another feature that would be fantastic, one that lychee has, is vacuum/suction cup identification. Lychee will highlight areas in your hollowed model that would create a vacuum while printing so you can adjust your hole placement accordingly. its crazy useful and would be great to see here
@@UncleJessy It's been in Tango for a long time, along with all the other features you like so much here and more - this is just an Elegoo re-skin using the Tango SDK. With all due respect, do some basic research before making videos like these, you're supposed to be a "printing pro".
Account creation is odd, the fact that it can’t network send or monitor its own branded printers is a nonstarter for me. That is a huge telltale sign of a half baked product. The company built a printer specifically with cameras and wireless specifically for network sending and monitoring and their own software can’t use those features and requires a 3rd party software that they are now directly competing with. Bold strategy, cotton.
@@SeanMcClintic Chitu makes the Elegoo hardware (motherboard and firmware), Elegoo is just a name on a plastic shell that Elegoo designed, all the rest is Chitu. So, to "get all the features on an Elegoo printer", Chitubox slicer is the only game in town, unless or until Elegoo starts using non-Chitu motherboards.
This... naming embossing thing seems like it would be good combo with a rerf test. Put multiple models of a test print down, use the emboss tool to either name them 1-6 or just straight up emboss the settings on it you're planning to use.
Seems like a fantastic idea, having a slicer made by the people who also made the 3D printer. That they include settings for their resin is fantastic. I hope they get your rapid resin settings out soon.
It would be beyond amazing if a slicer could cut and key models. Its the part that I hate the most when sculpting pieces. I do it in zbrush currently and its just tedious.

Bravissimo!
I downloaded it yesterday to check it out. Two minutes to pick my printer and import my 3 different resins from the cloud and I was slicing a test print. Super easy to use. I noticed the percentage issue on the scaling too, and wondered if there was an option to fix it. I hope they do as that was about my only gripe. I'm going to be using it with my Saturn 4, which I bought last month thanks to your review convincing me that I need to try resin printing along with my FDM printing.
Glad to hear there is a new player in the slicer game, this being the last contact point of a user to the machine it's strange not more companies are interested in making things easier and potentially grow the market
Achievement unlocked! I learned my new printer (S4U) has a new, better model coming *less than 24 hours* after receiving it! This beats my previous record with the S3U where I learned about the S4U two weeks after I got it. Seriously though, it's about time we got viable competition with resin slicers. Chitu and Lychee haven't really been moving things forward much for years, and lots of the additions are... questionable (like Lychee's awful community resin feature).
This looks pretty nice. With all the recent UI changes in Chitubox, I hate the UI anymore. I look forward to giving this a try for my ancient Mars and Saturn where finding settings for resins can be difficult due to their age.
As a version one I hope they get a new version out soon I like the multi bill plate. Option definitely will help when I’m putting together 16 scale models that come in like 10 pieces and want to slice everything at once it’s the one thing I don’t like about lychee slicer I have to constantly open no one do it go through do it again do it again do it again wonder if I could just do them all at once and then I know I’m doing all the settings right and I haven’t screwed up. Proud Patreon member commenting to support the video and the crazy guy that thinks he’s magneto. Be well be you.
One thing I want them to add. That no one has that I now of. A combine option. There are a lot of times I will put two parts together to make one part. It needs this option
Elegoo slowly removing all my issues with resin printing. The S4U has had a very low failure rate, now a slicer to help minimize supports. Post processing is my biggest time hurdle.
SUPER timely! I was just talking to my filament printer friend about how his slicer supports multiple build plates, but my current slicer (Lychee) does not so...thanks for the heads up on this!
Having "forgotten from the start" Mars 4 I'd like to know this too. Or maybe it's just limited by F-upped firmware or cheapest available board selection 🤔
15:07 That's not how it is normally? That is how every slicer I have used been. Chitu, Lychee, and Tango. I've had to mirror across the x and y to get to work.
I wish Lychee had multiple build plate options. That's been my one want for it for a long time. Probably gonna still use Lychee just because it's easy to use LYS files that are presupported or ones i've saved in the past.
Hopefully it will actuality allow you to save in the file format supported by the printer selected soon. The Saturn 8k i bought in 2022 won't print from a .goo file.
I think an account is needed to allow you to store your settings/preferences/resin collection in the cloud to access them from any of your computers anytime anywhere.
Just wanted to warn anyone thinking about getting a Mars 5 Ultra. My printer arrived more or less broken, I’ve had it for less than a week and started getting a loud banging sound coming from it. Almost all prints have failed since that started. I cleaned the vat, build plate, reset it, and well anything else I could think of and no luck. My issue isn’t that it’s a faulty unit, my issue is that I’ve been back and forth with Elegoo, and still no luck on getting a replacement. If you have a Elegoo printer and it works great, that’s awesome, but if you get a lemon and if your experience is like mine, it will be a battle to get a replacement unit. Just a warning to anyone thinking about getting one. I wish everyone a wonderful new year.
One other question...using the Elegoo Cura version (on MAC), many recommend the zig-zag supports. However, they are hard to remove and stuck to an extensive 12-hour print I did of a fantasy 2-piece dagger. Which choice is the simple 'stick and branch' support and what is it named? Thanks!
Heres a suggestion: You had the boolean section and the slice section, why not have them combine hollowing, slicing and keying into one step, have the user setup the cut, then have the program do the rest and separate the model with the keys already applied, you can have the user add the needed parameters for the hollowing size and the shape of the key to fit the two pieces together.
I can see evo supports help me a lot. Standard supports are more vertical which makes them weak in X-Y direction and that makes large and thin prints warp a bit during printing and leads to inaccuracies.
Thank you so much for this very clear video. I have a question about the format of the file: does the extension of .goo can be changed or not? My Saturn 2 cannot take .goo file format.
Can you turn off the visibility of the supports once they've been created? I find that to be essential for adding critical supports after using auto-generate.
like to use for anycubic , but slice format is only for elegoo :( hope soon fix that options like the automatic evo support system, thanks for the video :)
Another very important feature which all slicers should have is checking for floating islands and errors...without this feature any slicer is irrelevant, in my opinion, as you might miss one which can cause print fail, screen damage etc.
Thanks for the upload :) is it faster than chitubox? I have slow times when prepping wicked prints. Hollowing and placing the holes even on a new laptop is very sluggish on these detailed prints. The actual slicing is faster after following one of your videos on changing the estimated resin used.
The new support looks alot like the supports tango slicer have been using behind a payed slicer. but multi plate is nice, and really something a person getting in to SLA fra FDM would appreciate :)
So does it generate the plugs for the holes?? if you wanted to close them em up..cause i wouldve done on top of spideys head so itll drain from there as it finished printed lol
I hope they add more resins from other manufacturers. I tried the software but couldn’t find any nylon-like resin profiles. Specifically I would like profiles for my Siraya Tech Blu and Tenacious resins.
While I agree, how hard is it, really, to input your own resin in the meantime? Not like that isn't how we were doing it before lychee/chitu started adding profiles
Great Video, Uncle Jessy! Did you have a link to the microphone setup, as I didn't see it in the description? PS - Also, would you classify what you do as a "Print Farm?"
