I think this style of music became popular because it sounded so different and futuristic. It kinda resonates with 80s synthpop, and how people thought that sounded futuristic.
I don't really miss my dubstep phase, but it's interesting to see the influence dubstep has had over the years. Overall, shit is much less grimy now, but there's a lot of "edm" and "trap" music going around that probably would qualify as dubstep if the term were still used as often.
Listening to this again reminded me why i loved dubstep so much. Not enough songs capture the feel like this anymore. So many subgenres now, but dubstep itself feels neglected.

This song is definitely ahead of its time. Best dubstep drop ever even after the drop the synths omg perfection! Knife Party added a basil leaf on top when they made this masterpiece of a song. Their production quality imho is way down and it definetly sounds like they're just hiring ghost producers to do all the actual music.
