You know, I saw that fish trying to jump the waterfall! At first that’s what I thought it was, but after I watched it several times, I came to think that it was just an illusion or something. We did pass a guy who was fishing in the creek at one spot, and he said he had caught one or two small fish. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! I appreciate it.
This canyon is a real spectacular one to hike through. There are abandoned minds further up the canyon that we weren’t able to get to but hope to on a future trip.
Thanks, Eric! Yes, a video like this one where there’s so much sunshine, greenery, and open air is quite a change from the usual dark, underground fare here on my channel.
What a gorgeous view! Looking at all those creaks and going through those windy corridors just seems like such a blast. I would love to visit those places. Soggy socks are nothing to having such an adventure. Hope you all had extra socks to change into, though. Thanks for the lovely hike, Frank ❤❤
Yes, it was nice to change into dry socks and shoes at the end of the day. But you’re right - enduring soggy socks was definitely worth it for such a great hike! Glad you enjoyed the footage. Thank you for watching and commenting!

The water was your typical mountain stream water. Kind of cold but not too bad. The drillbit was interesting. Apparently at one point there was some kind of crude roadway that made its way up the canyon. There were bridges in certain spots, so that drillbit may be left over from something like that. Good hearing from you again, Doug!
Thank you so much! Yes, I’ve been on here for quite a long time. I think I was the first TH-camr to start posting videos of abandoned mine explorations back in the day. Anyway, I’m glad you’re here, and thank you very much for your interest and support. I’ll have new videos coming soon!
So gorgeous man. What feeds the creek upstream? That's a lot of water for the desert man! I love this! Literal wind tunnel there too, hah! The shaded spots are my favorite.
Hey, Jude! I’m not sure what feeds the creek. I do know that it basically flows year-round. When Todd and I were hiking in another canyon where the Dumas Mine was, there was a small creek flowing through it. At one point as we were making our way down the canyon, the creek literally disappeared into the ground! Yeah, the shaded spots provide a nice respite from the spots that are in full sunlight.
@AnthraciteHorrorStories It might be worth going back to this creek and hiking it all the way up to its origins. Now you’ve got me intrigued! Yeah, there are some slot canyons in the deserts east of San Diego. You definitely always want to check the weather forecast before going into one of those. Don’t want to be in one of them when a thunderstorm occurs! There are also some rare mud caves in the same area that are only found in a couple other spots on the entire planet. Lots to see and explorer all over the place!
There were several such crossings. Good hike to wear an old pair of boots that you don’t care about getting trashed. Thanks for checking out the video, man!
From what I’ve seen, the creek has water in it year-round. Probably a little bit more during the spring months like we saw in this video, but it has a pretty steady flow year-round. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@AbandonedMines11 It is a beautiful creek in what seems like a fairly dry area, that is why I was wondering there would still be water running by summers end. Glad to hear it still flows as I am sure it is a watering hole for many a creature there. Just a gorgeous little creek, reminds me of the little creeks I would happen upon hiking as a kid. Thank you!
Yeah, sometimes these random things that seem out of place are intriguing. From what little I was able to read about this creek’s history, at one time in the late 1800s there used to be some sort of roadway that went up the canyon that horse and wagons used. Some of these drillbits and other things we saw in the canyon are leftover remnants of that elevated bridge system and things like that. Unfortunately, there seems to be no pictures of this “road“ through the canyon. Would’ve been something to see!
@@AbandonedMines11 Right? It's such a trippy thing. I remember finding old steam donkeys well out into the Sierras with no visible roads beyond a narrow foot trail. It's so wild to find something so massive and complex out in the middle of nowhere.
What an amazing place with pink and blue rocks... and only you could find a drill bit nowhere near an actual mine haha (relative to your other videos at least)
Definitely up the creek without a paddle. LOL Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Probably will be heading back to this creek to film the upper reaches that we did not get to this first time around. The canyon gets extremely narrow and very overgrown with trees, bushes, boulders, and stuff like that. That’s about where we turned around in this video.
According to topographic maps, this creek, like many others, goes up into the hills via a ravine and basically just starts near the top. There are several intermittent creeks that do contribute to this one which probably helps. Out of all of them, though, this creek is the only one that flows year around.

Ah, yes - the hike to the Bridge to Nowhere. I never did that hike although I was in the area checking out those two abandoned highway tunnels that are nearby. I think I remember seeing some videos showing some small abandoned mines that are along that creek as one makes their way up to the Bridge to Nowhere. Thanks, Drew!
@@AbandonedMines11 Yes, just did a quick glance on Minedat and found a few. The girl I was with that day got injured, so I didn't have a lot of time to explore.
Beautiful. Did you notice at about 2:52 a little fish trying to jump the falls? What state is this in? Reminds me of a stream where I grew up.

Pretty amazing place! Was it hard to get there?
Hey, Paulo! Pretty easy to get to the trailhead. The hike itself, though, can be challenging due to the many unavoidable creek crossings.
Hi Frank, how's the water, cold? Interesting place for a drill bit? Have a great rest of your week!
