I was wearing a Greenday shirt that I got from my cousin as a gift. My brother was like "You don't listen to them" I said with sarcasm "no I actually don't" I listed 10 songs to him without thinking and stoping lol. I wouldn't wear a band shirt if I don't listen to them
I am middle aged junior high school teacher. For my first few years teaching, no kids seemed to like rock. I remember one kid asked what music I liked, and I said "rock", and he was like "oh, like Michael Jackson?" lol. Then there was a moment, after I guess Guitar Hero and Rock Band came out, when some kids seemed to discover rock, but that seems to have stopped. I used to ask kids who were wearing band shirts what songs they liked, but almost 100% of the time, they didn't know, so I learned to just leave the topic alone, lol. Now, when I was their age in the 80s? Tons of band shirts, and everyone wearing them knew what it was!
I was born in 86 but unfortunately by the time I got to high school everybody had switched from rock a few years earlier to rap. My first album I bought was nin downward spiral
Seems like older people love asking me about if I know songs from Queen cause I wear their shorts all the time... *Then they act shocked when I name literally every song from their albums.*
Try not to be too harsh on the older people, the only reason they are skeptical is because of how many young people in the current generation don't seem to be into the bands and think it's just a fashion trend lol.
I've never understood why they call him Eddie. Firstly the zombie creature looks like a female. Before I knew better I just thought that creature on the album covers was supposed to be the "Iron Maiden." I know what an iron maiden in real life was, but maybe this was a redefinition of the term. Seems more fitting to me still.
I dont own any maiden posters, but im getting one soon along with, acdc and probably ozzy osbourne too. Coz ozzy was my literal childhood artist and he was the only artist that i knew and love to this day.

Great videos 👌🏻👌🏻
I actually own the same tie-die Zeppelin shirt he posted in this video. I love that shirt. I love Zeppelin, and I loved the 70s hippie vibe even before I was into rock. All that psychedelic 70s Dr Who stuff was a good gateway into acid rock which was a gateway into (eventually) metal.
That image of that MTV shirt just reminded me that people also wear MTV shirts cause they look cool or whatever... not cause they used to or still watch MTV haha.

I’m a huge Beatlemaniac, and I saw one of my friends wearing a Beatles shirt, I was happy to see her wearing a Beatles shirt and I asked her, “What’s your favourite Beatles song?” she said, “oh i just like the design.” I started telling her to listen to The Beatles because their awesome.
The other day I saw a contestant on a game show asked a very, very easy question. "What famous group is George Harrison from?" The host was absolutely astonished (so was I) that the contestant was stumped. and it was multiple choice too.
The time I’ve bought a band shirt of a band I don’t know much about have been at festivals like Mayhem, Taste of Chaos, or Ozzfest. Where I’ll get introduced to a band on the bill and see their live show and not know a lot about them, but think their show was bad ass. I’ll buy a shirt then… usually begin to immerse myself with that band over time. An example of that was seeing Behemoth, White Chapel and Black Dahlia Murder at various shows and becoming a fan at that time. If you saw me with a Behemoth shirt in that first week or so, I’d probably not be able to name more than a song or two.
Yeah, I've never understood why someone would spend money, like actual, tangible, hard earned money, on a band tee, from a band they don't even like. Could you imagine Ozzy Osbourne or Necrobutcher wearing a Brittany Spears or Jojo Siwa tee? It would be hilarious.

Fast forward past high school and I hear more of their music and I got comfortable enough to get one. But yep, they are another one of those bands that got dealt the trend-hand of death as now a lot of younger people don't even know they're a band or if they do listen, they think their music is boring but yet still wear the shirt, like it's pretty depressing because their music is really nice to listen to on walks. ACDC I'm not that into but you're right, they are one of the early gateway rock bands that most of us back in the day got exposed to. I remember being 12 and starting to get more into Rock music and my friend had me listen to "Back in Black" and I thought it was the coolest thing ever LOL Personally "TNT" and "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" were the "that is so badass" songs to me back in the day (and they still kinda are when I'm in the "rock" mood haha) I don't really see many people wearing ACDC shirts as much as I see Led Zeppelin or Metallica but I do see their shirts in the usual stores so I'm not surprised it happened to them. It does feel surreal to hear a young person say they don't know they're a band though because of how generic and entry-level they are for the rock genre (if the kid is into rock anyway). Iron Maiden, Oi that's another bad one LOL I admit that I'm not a big Iron Maiden person. I only know a handful of songs, my favorite being "The Trooper" and I listened to their "A Real Dead One" album like once but yeah, can't say I'm a "fan" per say, just a casual who can dig them if they're played in a mix. But yeah that one confuses me too since Iron Maiden is another one of those "You've probably heard at least one song by them" bands and I'm more than sure that at least "Number of the Beast" or "Run to the Hills" still get played on the radio. I suppose some people just think that Iron Maiden is an edgy logo brand that make cool zombie rocker graphic shirts lol. And okay YES, The Misfits. Again I can admit that I didn't listen to them in high school, I only knew their song "Die Die My Darling" and I'll even admit that I actually did wear a Misfits shirt in middle school for a short while without even knowing their music, I just knew they were a band because one of my friends at the time was really into them. Thankfully I came to my senses and stopped wearing it as I got more into rock music and told myself that I would only wear shirts of bands that I at least like a few songs by. Fast forward to my early 20s, I finally take the plunge and listen to more of their music ("American Psycho", "Scream", & "Dig up her bones") and then I went all in last year listening to every single album on my drives to work. I ended up really liking their albums "Static Age" and "Famous Monsters" the most, though Project 1950 was also pretty good as well as I like Psychobilly music lol. So nowadays while even back then I felt annoyed that Misfits were turned into a trend shirt, this is like 3x harder to accept now that I know their music and find them to be a very enjoyable band and it makes me wonder if the people wearing them would even like their music. But yeah like I mentioned in the other video, The Misfits and somewhat The Ramones were the only band tees you really saw being worn as a trend before Metallica, Guns N' Roses, and the others caught up with them lol And yeah at the end of the day people will wear what they want but at the same time, they shouldn't be surprised if someone calls them a poser since that's essentially what they are partaking in. I do agree that if the person currently owns one of these shirts without knowing the band, they should give them a try because they may actually like them .
I think most likely what happens is you have major retailers knowing these are very well known, famous groups and therefore likely to sell so they buy them. People who are not into music or rock specifically see the shirts, and some percentage of that population buy the shirt and wear it. They don't realize what kind of a statement is implicitly made to other rock fans or music fans when you wear a band tee.
DUDE I LOVE YOUR PARAMORE SHIRT Also, I definitely agree that Famous Monsters is a fantastic album. The song that got me into Misfits was actually Helena and Nightmare On Elm Street
I have an Iron Maiden shirt and I'm still a teen and also a girl so I'm a little worried about getting called a poser one day while I actually like their music a lot
Im grateful my mother and grandparents raised me on great music all the bands i have in shirt form i listen too including Misfits and yet when you ask people most dont even know the band my generation is sad i actually one time wore a nirvana shirt in highschool and my vice principal asked me to name some songs and i just started listing he was shocked
Out of those three though, I feel like Tool will be the next one to become a trend-shirt. In fact, I feel like it's already kind of happened. But yeah Primus is way too obscure in the current day and I feel like Rush was one of those bands that gracefully stuck obscure into the 80s and onward.
I was wearing an AC/DC hoodie that I got from my aunt. When I was waiting for a few friends at the bus stop in front of our school I saw a guy with a Metallica shirt. I was like “Hey, nice shirt! What’s your favorite song?” He answered “Yea I don’t actually listen to the band”. That guy is now known to me as a poser and eboy
I have a wornout Hysteria shirt I bought in Prague in 1998. People spit on me wherever I wear it. But it's cool DL are still accepted in the US, haha! Pyromania is their best album though
Totally agree with your opinions. My partners best friend who is 63years old and is forever wearing band shirts of which she never heard of !!!!!!!!!!!!
Fellow Graves era fan as well. I do like some of Danzig era, especially the "Static Age" album but I found that Graves' vocals on "Famous Monsters" and "American Psycho" were really something. But then again I really do like most of Misfits stuff, even their last 2 albums :)
I saw a girl at school in the hallway and I asked her do you know The Beatles Abbey Road ( I love The Beatles) and she said I don’t know who that is and I thought it was cool. In my mind I was like *H U M A N S*!!!
My first metal concert was Paul Di Anno's Battlezone.....Di Anno was the original Iron Maiden vox.....i only wore a Misfits t shirt was after i saw the American Psycho tour 98....but im not a Misfits expert. Oh and Doyle live and Micheal Graves live as well...they hit Laredo TX more than once.
@@charlie7814 Right I forgot about Nirvana, I take that back, they are the common one today. Like the place I work at, I see so many people come in wearing Nirvana shirts and I'm more than confident that a lot of these people don't really listen to them, I know it's presumptuous on my end but... I've just seen how some younger people are with Nirvana after complimenting a few people on their shirts only to give me a weird look when I ask them what their favorite songs are. Not even a "Smells like Teen Spirit" and that is crazy to me lol
@@KaiDecadence That just goes to show the main point about band shits even more when someone wearing a Nirvana shirt cant even name there most famous song.
Derek Riggs, the graphic artist who basically created Iron Maiden's Eddie, also did other bands' covers. When I feel like it I plan on ordering a shirt with his artwork for Budgie's Nightflight album; stylistically it's similar to Iron Maiden's self titled debut and Killers. I don't care who wears whatever band shirts as I don't want to talk to them anyway.
i had a class mate who was into the shitty kind of rap like 6ix9ine and one day i saw him with a maiden shirt and i was like wait he wore a fear of the dark shirt and didnt know a single song also one of his friends had a cradle of filth shirt and that we the end line for me i mean you wear a black metal shirt and dont know the band
@@DanteD3ad NGL, I feel paranoid, because I'm a fan of all the bands you listed on both videos, but I'm worried of being labelled as a poser for wearing a band shirt, especially Nirvana and Misfits.
I’m guilty of the AC/DC one because my mother got it for me even though she knows I don’t listen to them and may be able to name one song but I listen to every other band shirt I own
There's Ozzfest, there's Hellfest, and there's Poserfest (aka, the graphic tee section at Target where you can the the most generic Metallica or Nirvana or Misfits shirt).
I personally would never wear a band shirt of a band I either didn’t know or didn’t like. I think it’s cool that young people may get exposed to a great band because of the shirt. I’m old enough 53 that I don’t really wear many band shirts anymore but man I have a huge storage bin full of them. I recently got an Iron Maiden shirt just because I got accused of wanting to have Iron Maiden playing at my wedding. Then I went out and bought the shirt so I could wear it anytime I thought that person was gonna be around. I love Iron Maiden though and was a fan since Killers. The Killers shirt is iconic. Probably the best shirt except maybe the Metallica Metal up your Ass shirt. I’d love to find that in a big enough size someday.....just because.
That's a real question. How can not you see why poeple love the t-shirts? Because Derek Riggs made a lot of cool Eddies. I can understand why poeple would like to have those Eddies on a shirt without knowing the band. When I was kid it was Eddie that made me interst in metal. I was like 4 or 5 years old, in the record store and I remember looking at those bad ass album covers. There was also covers from Meat Loaf that I thought were cool. Obviously when I listened to Meat Loaf years after.... yeah, I was confused ! Why, why ?? The cover had so much promises !
Yeah that is the point of cool artwork...makes you want to pick up the album. Back then you often didn't know the quality of a group if they weren't on the radio or you didn't see them live first. All you got is the artwork, so it better look cool.
I know you're joking, but it does suck seeing people wear band shirts, and they don't know who they are. Some of the biggest posers are my kids. Especially my 3 yr old. He doesn't know one song from the band shirts he wears. 😂
I dislike ppl that pose acdc. They are my favorite band!! I wear my shirts got 6 shirts!! Poser reported me at school cause they did not think hells bells was a song they thought i was freaking preaching about satan! Lol 😂
You know I used to think AC/DC were more about the big hits than maintaining that awesomeness for a whole album...but I recently relistened their latest release, Power Up, and almost all the songs were pretty badass. A couple sounded pretty generic AC/DC, but most felt unique and memorable. It's awesome that they still sound nearly unchanged since the 70s even with their age. I also had no idea originally that these were songs Malcolm helped write before he passed. Great rock album for sure.
Ive been wearing rock/metal t shirts since the early 1980s , way before social media obviously, back then when you wore a rock t shirt you were a real effing fan.......fast forward to 2021, some posers....
I actually only wear punk skull shirts because I like punk + alternative. Being a punk person should I stick with punk or I can listen to any music? Not trying to be mean or be a poser it's that I'm having trouble being true punk by listening to pop, country, hip hop & old rock
Listen to any music that you want to. Being a true punk means not giving a f what anyone else thinks. It's good to keep an open mind and explore and discover new stuff in life. I'm a metalhead but also love classical, punk, hardcore, rock, EDM. Be you and love what you love.🤘🤘

Black Flag also has quite a recognizable logo despite not having any huge hits.
I couldn't agree with you more. Those bands are part of my life and there are people who wear them for fashion. Drives me nuts.
DUDE I LOVE YOUR PARAMORE SHIRT
Also, I definitely agree that Famous Monsters is a fantastic album. The song that got me into Misfits was actually Helena and Nightmare On Elm Street
Yes! Graves era Misfits is absolutely underrated, there I said it

I have an Iron Maiden shirt and I'm still a teen and also a girl so I'm a little worried about getting called a poser one day while I actually like their music a lot
Dude I love ur Paramore shirt and poster
Thanks! I'm a huge paramore fan😅😂😁
Pedro 1op3z lol dude that’s my second favorite band. My first being LP
Pedro 1op3z and dude these videos are so relatable omg 😂
Well I'm glad you like them, more content coming tomorrow btw👍
Pedro 1op3z aight coolzees
"if you're not into AC/DC, what ARE you into?" words to live by
I have to agree with you some people who wear band shirts are trying to fit in and don’t know the bands who the are affiliated with
I have so many maiden shirts! I’m glad I’ve always talked to people who actually know them.
Motorhead? That's a big one
Love Motorhead 🤘🤘
cool posters
Im grateful my mother and grandparents raised me on great music all the bands i have in shirt form i listen too including Misfits and yet when you ask people most dont even know the band my generation is sad i actually one time wore a nirvana shirt in highschool and my vice principal asked me to name some songs and i just started listing he was shocked
Im glad that Rush, Tool, and Primus aren’t super popular.
True, some of my favorite bands as well
Out of those three though, I feel like Tool will be the next one to become a trend-shirt. In fact, I feel like it's already kind of happened. But yeah Primus is way too obscure in the current day and I feel like Rush was one of those bands that gracefully stuck obscure into the 80s and onward.
If seen a lot of rush shirts
Only real ones remember Green Jelly
Your paramore shirt is sick 😎
Glad you like it!
A lot of posers are starting to wear iconic Slipknot shirts. Me I just wear their self titled album shirt since it's also my favorite Slipknot album
been rockin the misfits merch since 2002
I am digging that paramore shirt so much
Glad you like it😂😁
I have a wornout Hysteria shirt I bought in Prague in 1998. People spit on me wherever I wear it. But it's cool DL are still accepted in the US, haha! Pyromania is their best album though
Totally agree with your opinions. My partners best friend who is 63years old and is forever wearing band shirts of which she never heard of !!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes! Paramore!🤘
I love paramore
I just noticed his Paramore shirt, now seeing this comment. Love them ❤️❤️
dust to dust is the best song on that album
No No hell to the No, if you want to dip your feet into the zeppelin pool then go with physical graffiti
After you've listened to I, II, III and IV.
My dad got me a def Leppard shirt and I was so confused and said "who dis?"
Until I listen to the band and now I really like them XD
Thanks for the vid 🙂 I love your Kurt Cobain poster, I used to have that one.
I mean I have a misfits hoodie but I genuinely love them
Lmao I wear misfits but I do like them ahaha I prefer graves era I got like 3 misfits shirts but do know who they are and listen to em.
Graves era is my favorite era as well 😁, although the danzig era has some good moments too
Danzig's vocals are famous with Misfits, but Michale Graves gave me my favorite Misfits album "Famous Monsters".
Also my favorite album😂
Fellow Graves era fan as well. I do like some of Danzig era, especially the "Static Age" album but I found that Graves' vocals on "Famous Monsters" and "American Psycho" were really something. But then again I really do like most of Misfits stuff, even their last 2 albums :)
I love misfits collection 2 had really good songs. Especially cool/cough. Og misfits. Such good song And album.
You this guy a fan when you see he’s happy for that fake shirt much love bro
Glad you loved the wholesome moment man✌👍☺
I have a lot of band shirts...but man... I'm no poser I only buy those shirts because I listened to them
I'm glad you listen to them👍
@@DanteD3ad thanks 🤟
My neighbor is a poser...he doesn't listen to Rock and Punk but he wears band shirts and listen to K-Pop
Big old my dude
*Oof
I saw a girl at school in the hallway and I asked her do you know The Beatles Abbey Road ( I love The Beatles) and she said I don’t know who that is and I thought it was cool. In my mind I was like *H U M A N S*!!!
Yeah Beatles posers are a thing apparently 💀💀
Pedro 1op3z beatles posers exists?!
I started buying the shirts then started listening to the music and discovered the fanbase
My favorite Iron Maiden song is Enter Sandman by Manowar
🤣
Written by Kurt cobain, panteras greatest drummer
My classmate who wears band-tee every frickin day... But doesn't listen to anyone of them
One shirt that's safe from posers is the Cannibal Corpse eaten back to life shirt
The misfits one pisses me of the most because they are my favorite band.
It doesn't help that it's also the MOST common one you'll see! Though Metallica is slowly catching up with that lol...
@@KaiDecadence For me the most common one is usually Nirvana or Metallica.
It be like that sometimes :/
I see people to that where band shirt and some I think they like the band but sometimes I don't
I feel that too sometimes😂😅
Yeah that's pretty screwed up💀💀
yikes
A girl at my school was wearing a misfits shirt and she didn’t even know that misfits is a band.
Big oof my dude💀💀
@@DanteD3ad NGL, I feel paranoid, because I'm a fan of all the bands you listed on both videos, but I'm worried of being labelled as a poser for wearing a band shirt, especially Nirvana and Misfits.
@@thomasmoriarty04 no don't worry! As long as you like these bands it's ok honestly, like what you like man
@@DanteD3ad thanks man, at least I know it's OK to wear band shirts in public as a teen.
@@thomasmoriarty04 it's ok to wear band t-shirts, period. Also I'm uploading part 3 of this series real soon!👍🤘
Joy division shirts are magnetic to posers
fr unknown pleasures i swear everyone has one
I’m guilty of the AC/DC one because my mother got it for me even though she knows I don’t listen to them and may be able to name one song but I listen to every other band shirt I own
Me who actually enjoys Iron Maiden and wants to wear their merch:
*Nervous sweating*
No need to be nervous, you like them so don't feel that way. If someone were to ask you what songs you like from them, you'd be able to answer
Killers is one of their best albums...hell one of the best 80s metal records period. I love the Paul Di Anno era
I know some people who wear Mayhem,LOG,Slipknot t shirts and don't even know that those are metal band's shirt.
That was lame they stole def leppard's front, they obviously have no talent
It's surprising on how many people stole both def leppards font and metallica's font
Dude, you give me Tom Araya vibes
I get that a lot😂😅
@@DanteD3ad 💖💖
At least posers don't wear Sex Pistols or Dead Kennedys shirts. That would be really ironic.
I know you're joking, but it does suck seeing people wear band shirts, and they don't know who they are. Some of the biggest posers are my kids. Especially my 3 yr old. He doesn't know one song from the band shirts he wears. 😂
So I’ve be listening to metal for a year now and my friend told me to name 3 Iron Maiden and named 2 went blank on the third and got called a poser
I love led zeppelin
I'm Australian.....It would be a crime if I didn't know ACCA DACCA. You could probably say I am a AC/DC connoisseur.
I have that Led Zeppelin shirt. Not a poser I promise
Yeah Greenday is my favorite Supermarket

How can someone not know what Led Zeppelin is ? It's a brad from Germany !
@Ashlin Williams Sarcasm,; get it right next time !
Dude...led Zeppelin is one of my favorite rock band... I'm no poser one of my favorite album is swan song and celebration day....the old LED ZEPPELIN
Mine too. Ever since I was 8.
As a huge maiden fan I hate when posers wear the shirts. I wore them in grade school and could tell you many of their songs and albums
I once saw a young teen wearing a Winger shirt. It's the same one I used to own in 88'. Obviously this girl had no clue who they were.
how do you know she didnt know them
Ive been wearing rock/metal t shirts since the early 1980s , way before social media obviously, back then when you wore a rock t shirt you were a real effing fan.......fast forward to 2021, some posers....
So many people were acdc shirts at my school and there like I only know back in black and thunderstuck
Doubt those kinds of people even know who Bon Scott is, only Brian Johnson
I actually only wear punk skull shirts because I like punk + alternative. Being a punk person should I stick with punk or I can listen to any music? Not trying to be mean or be a poser it's that I'm having trouble being true punk by listening to pop, country, hip hop & old rock
Listen to any music that you want to. Being a true punk means not giving a f what anyone else thinks. It's good to keep an open mind and explore and discover new stuff in life. I'm a metalhead but also love classical, punk, hardcore, rock, EDM. Be you and love what you love.🤘🤘
Hey i just wanna thank you man because im a poser/ "only know one song guy" and you've given me good suggestions for t-shirts to get.
