Bought one at 4WP and had them install. Lots of compliments! Very stable, no noise, no shaking. I worried about the CB/GMRS cables since the usual grommet is covered up, but I ended up fishing them through the vents. Easy peasy. Very happy! BTW there are antenna mounts on both sides of the carrier. Sweet!
From 13:57-14:03 you open and slam the tailgate. I notice a wobble on the tire itself. Is that okay? I just purchased and had this kit installed. When I’m going over bumps it shakes and makes a noise from it rocking back and forth. Does your do the same and is it noisy when you go over bumps?
I have the same and it does the same, I would not recommend this tire carrier. It literally shakes and flexes the entire door. I have video of how loud it is too. It seems like it needs the RUBBER BACK STOP which I couldn't see in this video - I had 4WP install mine I was the first one they did - it took them 3 tries just to get the door LEVEL when it closes.
@@macgyvsahr387 Thanks - I just received a reply from Smittybilt when 4WP installed it they didn't put the tire bump stop back on the left side - they said that could be the cause. I will post an update once its corrected!
@Joe Kolon its helped but I went back a few times for them to adjust it right - on normal streets it fine on crazy rough offroad trails it still makes noise - I sold my Jeep btw lol
Thank you for the video. Due to poor instruction I had to rely on your video. Once again thank you. I do have 2 questions. Does your tail gate rattle on bumps? I have been trying to adjust to remove the rattle but no luck. Also the hardware that came with my carrier is extremely low quality steal, all my bolts are rusting. On a garage kept Jeep.
So I have this on my JL also. The tailgate door closes just fine, but as I’m driving it does rattle quit a bit. I noticed you all relocated the door latch for the tailgate. Does yours rattle at all when driving? Suggestions are welcomed!!!!!!
Thanks for posting this video. Looks like the best option amongst all the reinforcement kits. I have the same Sting-gray JLU Rubicon with stock wheels and tires and it wobbles when I slam the door shut. Didn’t see the 3rd brake light on there. Is it mounted behind the tire?
@@macgyvsahr387 I just bought this product, it came with the brake light relocation kit. I have a 2021 JLUR, stock wheels/tires. The product is very rugged and well designed. When I close the tailgate, I get no shake at all. I have stock steel bumpers, so not planning on relocating the license plate. Definitely recommend this bad boy!
Anyone get this with a part called "limit arm bumper"? And has no step showing how and where this is installed? Its called out on front of my instructions as part "13".

Finally someone did this on a JL thank you guys so much!
is there a license plate relocation kit for this?

Sorry for the late response, if you adjust the latch catch it helps alot. Just wheeled it on the Rubicon and it was stable and held up great.

How long did it take
Never loosen bolts with a torque wrench, it will put it out of calibration spec.
Great video! What did you use to relocate your license plate on the spare?

No, we did not have the optional bracket. It is now installed in the center of the tire.
Sorry for the late response. It is now the option bracket had not com in as of the video.

Great job on the video. Appreciate it.
Tail gate sag? That doesn't sound good.
I hope that wasn’t a torque wrench used as a ratchet.
