I think Bullsquids are one of the missed opportunities in Half-Life 2, they would’ve been great in the Canal chapter (at least). Brilliant video though, carry on with these.
According to Valve they are still out there
somewhere...
I do wish they had followed through and put them in. I know they were originally meant to be in. Half-Life 2 was a perfect game for me, so the bullsquid being there would have been an additional bonus.

I wish most of the xen creatures from half life one were in half life 2
Originally bullsquids were going to return in Half-Life 2 along with houndeyes, However these creatures were cut for bullsquids thier sprites when they spit out acid could not working and can be pain when fighting in canals for houndeye the design was very weird and bulky and the enemy designer Ted Backman decided to scrap the enemy
It's unfortunate that they were cut from the final release, but they canonically still roam the wilds outside of the cities

They werent cut because of the sprite, that is an easy fix. The real reason why it was cut is because playtesters were afraid to get into the water because of it and they would avoid the water at all costs

No matter how advanced graphics are right now, these creatures still terrify me when I play HL1. Even the high pitch noise they make when you kill them is scary af.
They can live in toxic environments and yet they fall easily to the bullets, how ironic.
@@VuLinhAssassin Easily? They can take a fulll clip before succumbing to their wounds, even survive a direct hand grenade. Hit-point wise, they're on par with Alien Grunts.

I do find the new intro clip better, it's shorter, I love the fact that you go directly to the lore without any bs, but I really gonna miss the "the lore behind..." intro, it felt like a very warm "welcome" or like you were reading the title of an article, but, that's my personal point of view I guess, keep the great content coming! you really deserve much more subscribers

1:05 Usually predators have their eyes next to each other on the front of their heads, making it easier for them to estimate the distance to their prey, while prey animals usually have their eyes on the sides of their heads, making it easier to spot a charging predator from any direction

You left out the part where Eli lost his leg to a Bullsquid. (This was confirmed in Raising the Bar.) It seems like they and Houndeyes are still plentiful in Half-Life 2, but Gordon just happened to not come across them.
The best thing about bullsquids is the fact that hunt down and kill headcrabs.

3:38 the solution is take it out in Half Life you need 3-4 shots before they die. But if we're realistic it takes 2. Cause if we hide it'll still find us since its smelling is greater than any animal's.

They kill each other. Bullsquids are fiercely territorial, and they do maul each other to death.
