  • In this video, we install rear turn signals and brake light bulbs that will work for a 2016-2019 Toyota Tacoma. We also install a resistor to fix the hyper flash issue that is caused when the headlights are on and using the rear LED turn signals.
    We also show how to connect a resistor to the rear turn signal wires and where to mount the resistor.

    I installed today and WOW, what a transformation. I did not add the resistors to the front turns and am not experiencing any hyper flashing. Great MOD and thx again!

    Great video, it helped me a lot! I have a factory built 2008 Toyota Tacoma and I recently replaced my headlights with LED bulbs. I was getting the hyper-flashing across both front and rear turn signals. After purchasing LED Load Resistors from Napa Auto Parts and watching your video, the hyper-flashing was fixed to a normal flash. (I thought I was going to need to add resistors to all four corners of turn signals, but I only ended up having to add them to the rear (non LED bulbs; but it corrected the front LED bulbs as well). Thanks again!

    Firstly, I love this channel and it has helped me a lot throughout the years. I wanted to add something that I think might be helpful to some. I followed these instructions to the letter tonight.....but was still getting the hyper-flash. I found that I had to bridge the white/black wire WITH the yellow wire on the driver side and the white/black WITH the blue on the passenger side. The blue and the yellow wires are the ones you're supposed to ignore, per the video. Ones I switched the wires, no more hyper-flash. It may just be my model (2017 Sport), but I thought this might help some that would be scratching their heads when the resistors didn't work. (if someone already pointed this out, I apologize). Thanks for the content, this channel is a must for any Tacoma owner!

      Vladymier316 I have exactly what you are talking about. Followed this video to a T and still have hyperflash, but only when the lights are on. Lights off, no issues. What do you mean, "bridge" the wires together...?

    • @vladymier3162
      @vladymier3162 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertboydston3787 I shouldn't have said "bridge", I meant splice them together. Basically, splice the white/black wire to the yellow wire on the driver side and splice the white/black wire with the blue wire on the passenger side. The ones they say to ignore in the video are the exact ones you're supposed to use. Hopefully that clears it up a little?

    • @TheSecksBot
      @TheSecksBot ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can confirm this was the issue. Its might be only for 2017s. I had this exact issue. No hyper flash unless lowbeams are on. Change where the resistor clips connect based on this comment and it fixed it. I have a 2017 sr5.
      Thank you for commenting this on the video! saved me from having to google it and possibly not finding a solution.

    Thanks a lot and this is such a good video I’m going to be sure to subscribe! But I’m curious, if I am just looking to replace my high and low beams only on my 2019 Tacoma, will I still need a resistor? Also if that is the case, do you have a video that shows you how to install a resistor on the headlights?

    • @holafuckyou
      @holafuckyou 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I upgraded my lowbeams for my 16 tacoma a few years ago been meaning to get around to high beams but I don't use highs nearly enough to spend money on them right now. Either way to answer your question NO at least I didn't have to for the low beams I'd assume the same would go for the highs. I believe resistors are only needed when diving into led turn signals but for just the headlights I haven't has any issues for the past 2 years. BTW the led headlights I bought were auxbeam h11s from amazon.

    • @Runnin4Tacos
      @Runnin4Tacos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Lee I originally had problems with the headlights on, no longer though after the resistor. The yellow on the driver side and the blue on the passenger side I believe connects to the hazards which are pretty much the same thing so which is why the issue is resolved either way

      Kalman Zsamboki Jr. Good question, I don't think you will need it for the front once you have the rear resistors in. The reason why I think that is because after installing only 1 resistor to the rear turn signal, all of my hyper flash issues were fixed. So I didn't to use both resistors in the rear. I hope that helps

      It is kind of hard to say, The hyperflash occurs for any sequence of LED add on. So you kind of have to see which LED the truck is picky about and play with it from there.

    I have the same setup: truck, front bulbs, rear bulbs and resistors and this didn't work for me. Still getting hyperflashing with headlights on. The only thing I can think of is that I have HID headlights. Should I install resistors on both sides in the rear?

    • @Runnin4Tacos
      @Runnin4Tacos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      MatthieuS24 yeah definitely install the resistor in the rear to see if it fixes the issue. Your HIDs shouldn't cause this issue. Try a resistor in both rear signals and let me know

    • @Runnin4Tacos
      @Runnin4Tacos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MatthieuS24 that's strange, I do not have this issue. I used the signals with the car off in the video actually and nothing. Try putting your stock front bulbs in and see if it's normal. If it is you will have to install resistors in the front signals as well. Kind of a pain but it's that or don't use your signals when your car isn't off, most of us don't anyways
