Thanks for the detailed review of the UFO! Two questions (1) What bar is the guy using in the video? Do you find that Ozone style brake line is useful when flying the UFO or was he just using the bar he likes? (2) How does the UFO fly compared to the GHOST?
Hey Chris, I'll answer the easy one first... Got a haircut about a month ago but I like to leave it long. My kids do too, a lot of hair around our house. hahaha Sorry, I didn't have any good footage for this video since we had to rush it for the release. I was using a mouth mount and it was underwater during most of the relaunch. Basically, I let it drift downwind, pulled a centerline to turn the kite into the wind, made sure my lines were in decent layout (they were inverted but I can fly it like that). Allowed the kite to drift downwind slightly with some tension in the lines which allows the canopy to fill up and pull off the water. After that, just pull in an outside line and relaunch from the wingtip. Other relaunches were more difficult and required more skill/finesse. If you botch the wingtip relaunch and drop it trailing edge first in light winds, you need to pull the centerline to spin/flip to the leading edge. You can reverse relaunch if you are careful and try to flip it quickly after takeoff but if you pull too much or wait too long the canopy will collapse and fall. Relaunch becomes a lot easier in 12 knots+ with this kite, below that some special techniques are required. -Tucker
I mostly use 20m lines when freeride foiling. 23-25m for light winds. If you want to do around the worlds and those kind of tricks, 15-17m makes it easier. -Tucker
Hard to say without knowing the board, actual rider weight, skill, and what foil but I'd say something like 7-8 knots for a decent flier on an average-sized board. I've ridden it down to 6 knots on a wing board and I am 200 lbs. Was a ton of fun actually. -Tucker
@@MACkiteboarding I use a liquid force rocket 5.0 and a slingshot wake skate wing. I'm only 145. Normally in 6 knots I use a lf solo 15.5 but even that is tricky.
Great questions! The Slingshot UFO is similar to the cloud. Only more refined, more durable, and less flutter. Hard to beat Slingshot's customer service as well. I'd say the Peak4 is kind of apples and oranges type of comparison. The UFO will be superior in every aspect of flying and just a lot more reliable & fun to fly. The Peak will fly in less wind but won't necessarily give you the power you need in said wind. Not to mention the self-rescue situation and less bridle hassle. As a freeride foiler, foil kites have their place in my quiver but they are always larger, closed-cell, and only for sub 9-knot wind when that is the only option. Right now the Ozone Hyperlink 13m and Chrono LW 15m are my go-to for that purpose. -Tucker
I agree. You don’t need to buy a whole quiver to get a discount and don’t have to write an essay on how you are a experienced Kiter just to buy a kite.
@@MACkiteboarding I agreed with less flutter. If the UFO is more durable I can't answer. Time will learn. And yes there are many shops who sell Slingshot. But after comparing the 3 m UFO with the Cloud E2.8m, I can say the Cloud is much more refined than the UFO. The Cloud drift much better and react much faster when the lines are slack.
Huib Nederhof I’ve been shredding the ufo all week in hood river. It’s a proper cloud killer. I’ve been watching clouds pretzel, fold and death loop on the inside where the wind is up and down while I dance on ufo. So I would highly disagree that the cloud is more refined. Slingshot killed it with this kite and I’m stoked to get people riding it.
Yep, I've flown all the different versions of the Ultra in 7,9,12m. Great kite but a different type of kite than this. The Ultra is really meant for maximum power in light winds. That is great for low wind riding but it does make for more jolty power transmission and turning a bit less pivotal. The UFO, you trade a bit of grunt for a surfier and more reactive kite. -Tucker
Hello Tucker,
Tell me a bit about the bridle?
Hiw long is it compared to a Cloud?
Are there any pulleys?
Thanks
Régis
How much do the UFO's weigh?
Thanks for the detailed review of the UFO! Two questions (1) What bar is the guy using in the video? Do you find that Ozone style brake line is useful when flying the UFO or was he just using the bar he likes? (2) How does the UFO fly compared to the GHOST?
Ozone Contact V4 for the blue/black bar.
Is that ozone bar rigged back to front? Red line on the right?
Hahaha, yeah. Good catch. Must have rigged in a hurry. The Ozone bar is pretty symmetrical so no big deal.

2 questions:
Can you show the relaunch you did after the kite flip onto/over you?
My wife wants to know if you are ever going to get a haircut...?

What line length do you recommend?

I usually launch using an anchor at our beach. Will the UFO sit on its wingtip for that type of unassisted launch?
In decent winds, yes.
I’m assuming you’re using the ozone bar and lines? Cannot wait for SS to redesign their chicken release.
Yeah, I'm still working remotely and I didn't have a Slingshot bar with me. Very similar bars though.
-Tucker
Have a look a Chris Bobryk's IG, new bar on show.
Stephen Cooper thanks man. I just saw his video he posted. Nice bar. Cannot wait to. Get my hands on one.
What's the low wind limit on the 9 with a lite rider and a big surf foil wing?
Hard to say without knowing the board, actual rider weight, skill, and what foil but I'd say something like 7-8 knots for a decent flier on an average-sized board. I've ridden it down to 6 knots on a wing board and I am 200 lbs. Was a ton of fun actually.

Is that an Ozone bar?
Good catch Andrew. Sure is. Didn't have a Slingshot bar with me. They work nearly identical anyway.

hi guys! why no links in description? great video!
when will this kite be on sale?
We have stock right now.

Nice but you really have to try the Airush Ultra, light and strong (load frame) and a lot of drag
