    This is great.
    I love hearing Rick speak on Floyd stuff. Such an underrated member of the Floyd.

    Thanks so much for this upload ! An absolutely fascinating historical document it is. What a timepiece. When does one ever hear such a rambling, easy going chat these days? And prophetic..."Roger could easily do some theater"...wow!

    It's interesting to know that, since 1974 or before, Rick had been interested in recording a solo album. I like "Wet Dream". He had already realized that some pieces of his music would never be used by the band, and that he could work it in a solo project. Rick also said in this interview something that he would repeat later: that "Wish You Were Here" was his favourite album.

      iirc according to nick's book pretty much all of the members were considering music careers beyond pf after the success of dsotm

      It already sounds like Wright's participation in the band is being minimized.

    Great stuff. I was slightly surprised and saddened to hear the negative comments about Syd. Rick seemed to speak higher of him years later. I wonder how popular the Syd albums were back in the day? Did they achieve a more legendary status over time?

      I read that the albums did poorly but still made a bit of cult success but little to no advertising and no tours made the albums fall into obscurity until the internet came along and brought them into light where now they’ve became legendary

    • @death__ray
      @death__ray 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Was surprised at that too. Syd trying to destroy the band? What, never heard that type of comment until now! If he had been trying to do so why would Rick help out on Barrett's albums? weird

      It became unpopular for Rick to speak ill of Syd, and so suddenly, he changed. But this interview is the truth. If you go chronologically (with many people) through their interviews, you can see how stories change to fit certain narratives, or if something is popular, verboten, etc.

    Wow basically at the time he was more excited about writing 2/3rds of Animals (You’ve Got To Be Crazy / Raving and Drooling) and Shine on you Crazy Diamond than he was when he was writing music during the Darkside of the Moon era.

    I heard a rare floyd song years ago,I 'm sure it was a few years before this interview. It sounded like it was sung by Richard and was around 6 minutes long. It had an upbeat Bach-like melody on the organ with a trippy middle 8 guitar solo. It's theme was of someone reminiscing about happier times and snippets of lyrics were;"AS WE SANCE"and"STILL WE DANCE"Does anyone know what song this may be?

    What really bothers me is the way Rick died. Because he cared for his family and was a family man shouldn't result in a major loss of someone who loved his family.

    Why do they always rag on the founders of these bands I will never understand. Because the music and success if always more important then losing close friends. I lost someone near to me so I'm a loser.

    No disrespect to this band but it seems like pre-pink floyd and they don't even know when Pink Floyd was created. Something wrong here. Or some missing dates.
