- AD Make ANY Microphone Sound Professional in Elgato Wave Link - VST Plugins & Filters
Elgato Wave Link is a powerful audio software that can work with Elgato Wave 3 USB Mics and their Wave XLR interface.
However if you've never used it before or don't even know what VST plugins are, it can see overwhelming and confusing to setup.
In this Wavelink tutorial I'm going to be walking you through the Best Microphone settings and show you how I setup my Noise Gate, Noise Suppression, Equalizer, Compressor & Limiter using free VST Plugins available on the Elgato marketplace

I’ve been looking for a video like this for almost a MONTH!!! Thank you!!
My pleasure!
I'm suprised there isn't more info out there about wavelink...
So I'm just glad it was helpful 🔥
Important note: your sample rate does not matter. Higher doesn’t mean “better.” Not in a streaming/content creation sense. You need to make sure your sample rate matches your computer’s/audio interface’s sample rate. If you have 2 different sample rates It’ll create clocking issues or stop working entirely.
That is true!!
(Probably should have added that caveat)
I mostly do it, cause I record a lot of my audio in Premiere pro for my videos
So while 96khz isn't necessarily "better" Quality it may help avoid audio distortions and issues
Especially if I manipulate my audio a lot in editing
Plus because its divisible by 48/24 it also means it shouldn't "shift" or drift away from the video over longer takes
I've defo made the mistake of recording in 44.1hz before and had to resync the audio every couple of mins 😅
I'm so glad I found your channel from twitter by random! I've been dealing with mic issues for a bit now and everything is sounding so much better!
I'm so glad I could help!!!
I've had so many people ask me questions about my setup recently,
So I thought making a FULL walkthrough of everything would be useful for everyone haha
Thank you so much! This was a life saver. I looked at several videos before I found yours that was so much more helpful.
Thank you so much!!
I'm glad you found the video helpful 🔥
I’ve been thinking about getting the wave DX and now I’m pretty much sold! Sounds amazing!!!!!!
Great choice tbh!! 🔥
(Especially the new white one 👀)
I've been really impressed with it so far... even comparing it to my SM7B it holds up at 3X cheaper
Excelent video and impressive presence on the videos. Underrated for sure. Good luck, mate.
Can't wait to fix my mic WOO!! Great video and great content as always
Thank you so much! 🥰
These videos take forever to put together, so I'm glad I can help a BUNCH of people ^_^
Great video. Informative and good flow.
Thank you so much!!
It was a BIG vid to put together but I'm hoping it helps a bunch of people out 🔥
Your editing is very impressive, I am sure your channel will grow, I admire you very much.
Thank you so much!!
.
Doing my best 🔥
Thank you for this! Its incredibly helpful 😁😁
I'm so glad people are enjoying this video and actually finding it useful!!
It took forever to make so that's nice to see haha!
Great video!
Thank you!!!
Its been on my todo list for aaages, so I'm glad I finally found the time to get it made! 🙃
Your videos are always so helpful! Bought a rode podmic (white version🔥) after seeing your video. Excited to rewatch this video once it arrives!
Great choice tbh!!
I really like the Podmic, they sound awesome and are built like a tank!
Did you see the new Coloured Pop filters RODE just announced?
@@ajsarsfield I didn’t! I’ll go take a look at that announcement!
I dont have any of this rig, but it was good info anyway. thanks
Thank you!! 🥰
VSTs csn actuslly be installed into OBS studio too
So you could technically have the same setup with any mic in obs
I was going to lurk this for the support but now I’m cutting hubby n my tv time short so I can go upstairs to go play with audio. What have you done?! 🤩
Also love your editing style! 😍
HAHA!
You're poor Hubby!
I hope you make it up to him once you've returned 😅
Awesome - I need to figure out the Rode Caster duo now, maybe set all this up in OBS instead
I actually have the same guide but for OBS too in a different video ;)
You would be better setting it up all in the Rodecaster though if you can figure it out
and then JUST setup the limiter/Loudmax in OBS etc
thx u so much. Helped a lot. What are ur settings for discord please ? have same mic, Wave XLR and all the plugins. Thanks !
Great informative video. My only problem is I extract and put rough rider in my vst 3 folder. When I go to scan for vst plugins every vst you recommended will show up but rought rider 3
I think for Rough Rider (at least the file I downloaded) had an installer rather than having to manually copy the files to my VST3 folder..
Once id ran the installer and restarted wavelink Rough rider just appeared in my Filter options 🤔
Under "audio damage, inc"
Please make a video about the Elgato stream deck plus. Please
I'll add it to the list!!
Anything specific you want to know about it?? 🤔
Hey brother thank you for replying and thank you for your work.and I got a stream deck plus and I want to learn how to set up my sounds with it like game, stream, discord and like Spotify.theres a lot of people making videos on how but they don’t go into detail and I like what you just did in that video the went into detail and broke it down perfectly

Does "until you're hitting around -12 or so" mean peaking at -12db or having your overall voice consistently stay at -12db?
11:16
Same thing here. Should we be peaking between -5 and -10 or having our overall voice consistently stay in that range?
PS: Thank you for this tutorial, these plugins are really helpful :)
Nightow1 comming in with a BANGER!
Question though: i set my audio to 96hz and now everything seems really choppy?
96khz isnt 100% Necessary for most people..
Especially if its just for live streaming, it helps a bit with recording but if you don't "Edit" your audio much in post then you probably wont even notice much of a difference...
Something to check though is in OBS go to settings > Audio > General > and make sure your "Sample Rate" is set to 48khz.
if its at 44.1khz that'll be lower quality and the Rates wont match so that might cause audio issues as well as potentially lose "sync" with cameras..
@@ajsarsfield as always thank you for answering ! Much appreciated ^^ and explaing the loud max. I had kinda guessed around but this helped dial me in
Anytime!!
I'm just glad I can help..🔥
I dont know EVERYTHING yet
But I spent a good portion of last year trying to learn and perfect most of my audio settings etc
so I thought the least I could do is try and help others improve theirs without wasting Months of research and making mistakes like i did😅
mine just sounds hallow abd even after suppression, static is heard
Question?
What microphone are you using?
Same as me or a different one?
I have a wave 3 mic and installed all the plugin's and followed all the steps. In the end you can still hear my mouse clicking when I speak (not when I don't speak) and the OBS meter still comes in the red when i talk loudly even though i have set the LoudMax... how can I fix this? Especially the mouse clicking/keyboard sound. It's very annoying if that comes through while talking.
In OBS make sure your mic is set to microphoneFX and not the normal microphone
@KB-rx2wp No that's not correct. To work with Wave Link you have to set the Wave Link Stream as your microphone source. Your mic input will transfer through MicrophoneFX
@Lindastyle You can set each wave link channel up as individual audio sources. If you want all of your sounds to go through the stream output, then yes. I prefer to separate each track in obs to apply duckers and other effects. Also makes it easier for troubleshooting sound issues.
"ANY Microphone" ? In my experience Elgato Wave Link requires an Elgato microphone.
not specifically an elgato microphone
but You do need some form of elgato hardware..
The Stream deck + and the Wave XLR interface both unlock Wavelink which can be used with ANY microphone after that
I have an SM7B & a Rode Podmic and use these settings in wavelink
