I happened upon this in my feed this morning and clicked because Billy Gray is such a touching and beautiful ballad. It is hard for me not to think of Darcy Farrow when I hear this song.
In general, I am a sucker for simple stripped down arrangements and this pushed all those buttons perfectly. The guitar accompaniment and the simple guitar lead fit the song so well.
And the harmonies ! Wow, they are so beautifully tasteful… It sent a chill up my back when I heard the perfectly intoned and blended “he was looking for Bill Gray…” Pure musical magic. I love how great musicians make things look so easy.
Thanks so much for recording this gem and putting it out into the ether for the world to enjoy.
Hey thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and especially for writing this thoughtful comment. All the best!
Jesus Kristin(and Korby) is this great.

Thank you!
Such a good song
It really is
@@KorbyLenker I showed the original song to my dad & I told him it was my favorite by them. He asked why, and I must admit that is a good question...
I said because it's just so sad and powerful.
@@ProjectRedfoot Yeah man its a great story song. the last first is the best.
Great cover!
Nice job.
thank ye pardner
can't listen to this version without crying wonder if the tall man Blake wrote about was Juan Largo (Patrick Floyd Garret)
Just read about Garret's colorful life. Thanks for that!
wow Great job.. excellent.. That guitar sounds huge with big bottom end.. You are tuned down 1 full step it sounds. what guitar is that? It looks like an early Martin D18V? What year is it? What strings are you using? Flat pick and thickness?
Thanks Bill. I think I answered your other questions on other posts but as to flat pick I use the Dunlop 2mm beveled edge. I've experimented with the $2 mandolin pick by I cant rememeber who but I lose too many of them to keep the habit.
Good stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Korby, tasty video .Are you playing the same D_18 V that you used back in your Bellingham days?
Indeed I am
good job1
Swueeet!
Great version but prefer Caleb Klauber and Reebs Willlms
Glad they exist!
