7:25 A bad driver never misses their turn. A good driver will make the mistake of taking the turn, to prevent any accidents. To me, it should not have gone ahead, but it couldn't make the merge, so it took the turn. I would have done the same if I got blocked and wasn't allowed to merge into the proper lane.
That’s a good summary or bad and good drivers. I literally just saw a video on TikTok where some one in the straight-ahead lane cut across the people in the turn lane to make the missed turn… And got spotted by the cops and pulled over. But I’d take how the FSD here handled getting stuck in the wrong lane over that other video any day!

I live in the Bay Area and dread driving up to the city. I would also characterize my driving there as “ungraceful” (sometimes bordering on “disaster”). The whole city is an edge case with erratic cyclists and pedestrians, crazy ass traffic patterns and blind intersections and hill crests. V10 is indeed mind blowing.
To answer a couple of your questions: on the first corner @ 3:27, I suppose it was reasonably cautious; however, it was trying to execute a right turn on a red light when there is a sign strictly forbidding that. IMO that should be one of the signs that should be obeyed by FSD, even if it is customary for the locals to ignore the sign. The second question you had was regarding the view from the 360 deg camera when trying to leave the parallel parking spot and merge with traffic. I thought it was just like me shoulder checking for a gap, so I thought it was great. Please keep up the excellent content.
I found the narration, editing and production of this specific kind of video material to be setting the bar very high. I was very seriously impressed. What it feels like to me to be watching this? I feel as if I am witnessing a landmark advance in robotic capability, as well as a correspondingly impressive move forward in addressing the challenges of capturing the human experiences such novel capability can produce. Bravo!
One major plus i see is auto collision warning able to pick up a pedestrian mid turn when the pedestrian is basically way off to the right side. Some drivers cant even do that due to a pillars blocking visibly and them turning too fast without checking thoroughly.
Nice work! It really speaks volumes about the software when the only disengagements are accidental ones! It reminds me of the old joke about the 747 airplane's autopilot: "This airplane can be flown by a man and a dog!"..."What's the dog for?"..."It's there to stop the man from touching the controls!".
Amazing video! Thank you. Nice to see the improvement in decision making to be more 'humanlike'. What I really look forward to is when FSD starts anticipating other's actions; taking in position/speed/direction, turn signal use, upcoming merges/restrictions, etc. "The car ahead of me will likely want to merge, causing the truck beside it to slow and make room, which would cause this that and the next thing."
08:37 As a European who has never seen this kind of organized homelessness it is so insane that anybody renting/working/walking in this area is just fine with the way things are going?! Immediately caught my attention. Anyway, great vid on the new beta and good commentary. Very nice job on being patient enough to let FSD do it's thing unlike other demos we get to see :)
San Francisco also has open drug use and other similar problems. It’s really quite a mess. Most people in the Bay Area are used to it and don’t really get fazed by it anymore. :/
@@soryuushi Damn, that does sound like a mess. I guess if you're a single guy, mostly getting around by car then you can ignore it but clearly you can't have a family in a place like this. This is the type of video I’ve been waiting to see. A real world urban setting with lots of traffic and pedestrians. Other guys are posting videos testing at night or in small towns. Thanks for putting FSD to the test.
Very cool to see BETA 10 in SF, thanks for showing us! Even though I live here, every time you take it to the city I'm amazed at how many crazy things happen along the way that the car has to navigate on its own...
Nice video, I'm now driving a Kia eNiro and liking the lane keeping assist but this FSD is next level. Interesting to see how it develops over time. I liked and subbed, keep it up.
Nice video. Thanks for letting it do all that it could. I liked the re-routes when it could not safely merge. It’s interestingly see the cusp of aggressive and passive behavior.
Great view again. Just like the one for FSD 9. I love this style where you specifically point out situations where you personally felt a difference and explain it.
My 2021 Model 3 with 10.2 FSD is not handling driving in Reno very well. I wonder if this is due to less data in the system. My most concerning moment was when I had to take over when it tried to change lanes into an SUV to my left. I have watched the dash cam footage but can’t figure out why it did what it did. I am excited to try it out more today! ❤️
This is f'n incredible. As someone from Maine, imagining how stressful it would be to drive on these streets in these situations is terrifying. I know a lot of people who just would not be able to do it, and your car is able to process so much more information than humans. Like at the intersection when it was creeping forward, watching for pedestrians, bikers, and cars.... amazing. Even someone with ADHD would struggle to process that much information at once
Another great video. Thank you for your time. I noticed something at 12:47. There is a box truck in front of the pickup. You can’t see the box trucks brake lights, but the visualization shows them. Is this a view into “the mind of the car”? That struck me as a pretty amazing detail.
4:41 Have you seen situations where the camera system is good to the point of being able to see silhouettes of cars THROUGH the windows of cars that would otherwise be considered blocking its view? I end up doing things like that when driving in crowded streets to predict how crazy the upcoming traffic situation will be at a given intersection.
For your amusement and knowledge. There is a "secret" second crookedest street in the world in SF. 20th and Kansas Sts. I think the curves are a bit tighter than Lombard although having lived in SF from 1982 -2015, I've never been down that section of Lombard.
That "rearview mirror" view at 19:20 is useful once you explain it, but the fact that it's mirrored really confuses me and makes it hard to link the two views together mentally. It looks like you're parked on the left side of the road looking out your right side window, while in reality you're parked on the right side looking out your left side. The view at 22:03 on the other hand is easy to comprehend and very helpful, as it isn't mirrored. Thanks for making these videos, very insightful as always!
At 19:15 I think that the rotated top view is really good, but it confuses me because the cars are coming from the right. If you mirrored the video I think it would be substantially more useful for understanding what's going on.
It seems like testers in the Midwest and East are having a much rougher time with this version. I think it has more to do with mapping data than the AI. They NEED to fix the route planner for this to ever work, or make the AI able to override the planner by reading street name signs and all road markings.
Thank you for the reminder of why I hate driving in SF! 😂 Very impressive outing for autopilot and you did a great job showing off different traffic situations.
Awesome video, you are the most entertaining FSD TH-cam by far! I felt the “side view” at 19:00 needed to be actually flipped the other way? At 22:20 it feels a lot more natural and it’s the same view but not flipped.
AI DRIVR: thoughts for TH-cam video overlays: Not sure how this would look but top 1/3 being front view with the 360 camera. Bottom bar showing rear 360 view (to show traffic the autopilot is trying to merge into) Then in the middle have the steering wheel on the left. Then on the right show the full autopilot visualization. I don’t think we need the in camera front view, it’s just a duplicate of front 360. Maybe it gives us a sense of what a driver sees and a sense of where the front of the car is. Necessary?
At 3:30, you can see two "No right turn on red" signs. I presume AP can't read those signs, as it turned right on red anyway. This concerns me. AP shouldn't turn right on red where it's illegal to do so - unless I'm missing something?
8:00 There are many pedestrians like that in big cities, stepping down the curb like zombies. Human drivers have an advantage by recognizing their facial expressions.

I thought it was just like me shoulder checking for a gap, so I thought it was great. Please keep up the excellent content.
The best FSD beta videos out there! I don't form my opinion about a new version until I see your take on it.
This is fantastic! Love seeing how much FSD has improved.
Congrats on your first sponsorship! You deserve it. Thanks for the great content.
Thank you for all of your time spent on this. I value your honest opinion and trust what you say. Always a job well done!!!
one of the first person to test out and upload beta 10 video. I am glad you are now getting sponsorship, i will consider PIA!
This is great. Looking forward to more testing
So awesome!!! Excellent editing AI DRIVR. Thanks for making great videos showcasing pure magic!
Outstanding video, like you said, not the typical FSD beta but focused on those difficult and unique scenarios. Love it
08:37 As a European who has never seen this kind of organized homelessness it is so insane that anybody renting/working/walking in this area is just fine with the way things are going?!
I could never imagine letting a kid go to school in that kind of neighborhood where drug addicts and homeless people are living all over the sidewalk. Sounds like the city isn't doing a good job keeping their neighborhoods safe and in a livable condition. For me personally this whole surrounding area would be a total no-go zone..
@@GreenBrake there are also no public restrooms, because they don’t want people doing drugs in the stalls or something. So, theres poop everywhere. I just left the Bay Area, and it’s *amazing* how low of a standard of living you get used to.
Wow I didn't even see that it's crazy I am also grom Europe 😮
Murica.
Amazing video and progress! The commentary and choice of camera angles are incredible! Thank you!!
Absolutely great video as always! Loved the double-parked truck test. Autopilot did great.
This is by far the best Tesla autopilot channel on TH-cam. The commentary alone is great but efforts on understanding the context and put autopilot through the roughest tests is truly mind blowing.
Hands down best FSD video I’ve seen keep em coming. The commentary is vital.
Awesome video! FSD is definitely on the right track.
Its been less than a year! I mean this is just jaw dropping. The most impressive thing to me is how it deals with its mistakes.
Still my favorite FSD videos. The best commentary combined with the best visuals.
Many of the other comments here puts it so well, so I'm just commenting support you with the algorithm. Thanks for the awesome content!
Thanks Muskar, appreciated! :]
Fantastic summary of Beta 10 capabilities. Makes me more confident in Beta FSD release coming in not too distant future. Thanks.
Nice video. Thanks for letting it do all that it could. I liked the re-routes when it could not safely merge. It’s interestingly see the cusp of aggressive and passive behavior.
Thank you. I enjoyed the experience (3rd) very much. I'm a shares holder, but not yet an owner. Almost guaranteed to include FSD!
Thanks again ~
Great view again. Just like the one for FSD 9. I love this style where you specifically point out situations where you personally felt a difference and explain it.
You are the best tester. Fsd is no near to be ready but it is impressive.
In2/3 years it will be perfect
Great video. I think you are right, the way it recovers from errors is extraordinary.
Thank you for the hard work setting up everything and showing us this amazing autopilot system!
Folding the mirrors as it squeezes through a tight space. That's pretty cool and even superhuman!
we are almost finally in the movies we used to watch . great video cant wait for this to be available to the rest of us .
At 19:15 I think that the rotated top view is really good, but it confuses me because the cars are coming from the right. If you mirrored the video I think it would be substantially more useful for understanding what's going on.
19:13, Maybe adding a boarder colour on the side of the mirrior for the footage and/ or rounding the corners slightly for a visual difference
excellent job narrating and showing what autopilot is capable of! Keep up the great videos.
- Tesla engineer
It seems like testers in the Midwest and East are having a much rougher time with this version. I think it has more to do with mapping data than the AI. They NEED to fix the route planner for this to ever work, or make the AI able to override the planner by reading street name signs and all road markings.
Check out Tesla daily I think he's in Milwaukee, it drove pretty well there.
But yeah seems like it's better in the bay area
Watched dirty Tesla in Michigan seemed to work great. He said it’s the best version yet.
@@tylerw.1414 wait there’s a fsd Tesla driver in my town? Ima have to check his channel ouy
Yes they said they focused more on Cali compared to other states.
@@neeljavia2965 Makes sense to focus where theres less weather variation + a ton of buyers
Finally a beta tester letting the system/car figure it out! Great video. Looking forward to more from you.
AI DRIVR: thoughts for TH-cam video overlays:
Not sure how this would look but top 1/3 being front view with the 360 camera. Bottom bar showing rear 360 view (to show traffic the autopilot is trying to merge into)
Then in the middle have the steering wheel on the left.
I think you have such an enjoyable voice to listen to in these videos! Love your excitement when the car does something amazing 👍👍
looks like Nav needs a little help also, 3 Lefts would have been better than missing all those rights.
Imagine this, but with narrow streets, then you can imagine autopilot trying to drive in European cities.
多謝!
8:00 There are many pedestrians like that in big cities, stepping down the curb like zombies. Human drivers have an advantage by recognizing their facial expressions.
Always amazing how the following bird’s eye-view can be constructed from just the onboard cameras!
