- The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 34-28, in their 2023 NFL season home opener.
QB Jalen Hurts, RB D'Andre Swift and WR DeVonta Smith all got into the endzone. The defense showed up and caused 4 turnovers, led by DE Josh Sweat. And K Jake Elliott showed off his leg with an impressive 61-yard field goal.

Jake Elliot is criminally underrated. He's never missed a kick in the playoffs. He's 6-7 this year and 3 of those kicks were from Pluto.

BRIAN JOHNSON IS NOT HIM! He needs to give up offensive coordinator responsibilities ASAP! He out there making Hurts look terrible, hell everything is terrible. Swift only did good cause that's Swift! Gainwell did not perform well and along with Scott are now injured!
Feel like we’ve already had more injuries this season than all of last season, the football gods are cruel but this team has the depth and the leadership to overcome them

Refs missing the clear hold on Sweat that led to the wide open TD for the Vikings drove me nuts.
They did not want to see it. That is why the dude was open. They were all waiting for the call. I know I was.

@@stevebabiak6997the wild part is they put in the highlight clear as day. The QB was about to get sacked or even stripped. That touchdown was not going to happen. Then later in the game call that weak hold on a penny to call back the AJ Brown TD.
The refs missed A LOT of calls last night. I felt it hit the eagles slightly harder than the Vikings, but not by enough to get me upset, and it’s not the reason the game was as close as it was.
Defense wins championships and man alive...the Eagles have a great one.

@@drakedawson3455 - Slay wasn’t on Jefferson on all plays. Sometimes the Eagles played zone, and Jefferson also lined up in the slot for some plays.
He had monster yardage, no disagreeing with that - just not all with Slay covering him.
As long as swift stays healthy
I am concerned that when the Eagles have a substantial lead, the defense takes the rest of the day OFF.

Great game! Only so much the defense could’ve done going up against the league’s best receiver in Jefferson and one of the top tight ends in Hockenson, with half our starting secondary out! Jake Elliott making it a 10 point swing from 61 at the end of the half was brilliant !
Not for nothing, thats a high powered Vikings offense going against a backup Eagles secondary and linebackers. Only starters they had were Evans and Slay. Maddox, Bradberry, Nakobe Dean, Blankenship are all hurt lol.

The redfs missed a lot of calls on both teams. I think it hit the eagles a bit harder than it hit the Vikings, but the balance of missed calls didn’t affect the overall score too much. Play calls and eagles injuries were the reason it was a close game.
We definitely played good. We didn’t even have James Bradberry and Avonte Maddox got hurt. So I think we played well without them

Great win defense looked great considering a lot of the secondary we’re back ups the running game looked great and what we could see downfield there some great plays once the passing game is figured out we will be a deadly team
Jalen Hurts is not the answer to the Philadelphia Eagles to win a Super Bowl. We play this game to win Super Bowls and for this team to accomplish anything this year, it’s no secret Hurts has to be special and so far he hasn’t. Hurts hasn’t been awful. But he hasn’t been the Jalen Hurts we’ve all expected this year, and It’s up to Nick Sirianni, Brian Johnson, Alex Tanney and Hurts himself to figure out why the consistency is missing and how to get it back. Consistency is the key to maintain focus.
Idk man seems pretty early for all that dialogue. Hurts will win us multiple super bowls. Don’t worry!

The two teams I see in the super bowl is Philly and Jacksonville if both teams don't have to many injuries. Both teams are stacked!

funny how other media is saying the Vikings turned the ball over but reality is Eagles D created the turnovers.
No kidding. I think that goes without saying, lol. And they were lucky to recover all four. Especially that JJ fumble in the end zone, (which they didn’t even recover). What a horse crap rule that is. A few inches less and that would’ve been Vikes ball on the one yard line. When a fumble goes out of bounds the ball should stay with the offense. The end zone shouldn’t make a difference. Where neither team recovers the ball should not be considered turned over. That touchback rule is the most unfair rule in the books. Eagles were lucky to win that game.
After Swift & Co put up 200+ im not concerned about the O going forward. It wont only be about stopping Hurts, everything should start to open up. The Defense is whats concerning. Specifically the secondary. Guys gotta get healthy, an the best guys need to be out there!

I am now 100% convinced, that the RPO is not a true RPO ... And that can be defended ...
They are pre-called pre-decided plays, and it is very obvious for anyone who knows football ...
New England defended it, now Minnesota defended it ...
If it is predetermined, it is NOT an RPO ... it just looks like one ...
Multiple plays of the first two games, Hurts could have pulled the ball and ran ...
He could have pulled the ball and threw it ... He could have handed the ball off
because the ends were split wide and holding their ground ...
If we do not run a true RPO, it will be very difficult if not impossible,
to repeat the performance offensively, from last season ...
AND, the drive to close out the game, that we wound up punting, I almost broke the TV ...

Penny got some touches, and didn’t net much yardage - yet Swift and Scott managed to net decent yardage. Penny will have to step it up to get playing time.

This offense found its identity last night. Brian Johnson didn’t call a great game in week 1, and the first half of week 2 was looking like more of the same. But something happened at halftime, and it dawned on him: This is a run first team. All the success this offense has had over the last 3 years springs from our ability to impose our will up front and run the ball with impunity. Once we can move the football on the ground, and the defense realizes they can’t stop us no matter what they do, our big play offense opens up and the top comes off any defense we face. Just when you think they’re gonna give it to Swift every play until they stop him, they take the top off with Davante and AJ.
And on a side note, AJ throwing a fit on the sideline because he wasn’t getting the ball was a little childish in that particular game situation. He had a beautiful TD called back, and Jalen went right back to him on the very next play trying to help him get it back. Unfortunately he was interfered with on a fast bang-bang type of play and the ref didn’t catch it. Tough break. But AJ and Jalen both did their job there, there was nothing to complain to each other about. Sometimes you get those big plays, sometimes you get unlucky and they don’t count. It’s not the end of the world. There will be plenty more opportunities for AJ to pad his stats this year. We’re only in week 2, and with the success Smith has had through two weeks, you know the safeties will be cheating toward his side in the next game.

Dallas was open on the interception and had room to run and probably could've gotten the first if not close to it at least, ughhhh. Hope they clean that up!
