BRILLIANCE. Still remember listening to this song on repeat walking at the beach on a cold, crisp, sunny November day back in '98 with no one else in sight.
I've been coming back to this song on TH-cam for the last month and always see your comment. Every time I imagined that you were walking somewhere, like a scene from “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. In fact, I feel the whole moment, but sometimes I can’t compare it with 1998, because I was born only in 2000. But I have a different solution: you wrote this comment 12 years ago, it's like when you felt like you were on the beach in the late 90's. For me it would be November 2010 and I remember it. And it's crazy, just to realize that at that time it was the same segment as it is for me now. And now it's doubled for you. Life is mercilessly fast.
This is one of my favourite songs.. Not only is it a perfect representation of Post de-tox drug addiction and lost love but it also perfectly shows off the awesome range and creativity of one of the greatest vocalists ever known.. Top tier. Miss Halliday was incredible. An absolute prodigy. I only wished she went on to do more like this.
One of their very best tracks. The original version on the "Pink Girl..." single is my favourite. I was visiting my hometown in the north of England at the time, bored out my brains, when I picked up the NME one day with the news that they were back together. Was utterly ecstatic. Bought the 7" and CD.
no one mentioned that the song had been produced by Tim Simenon (Bomb The Bass) - actually Tim Simenon produced all songs exept three: Chinese burn, Coming up roses and Dog bone - also before Come Clean he produced "Ultra" (1997) for Depeche Mode and "Shag Tobacco" (1995) for Gavin Friday. that's the range of work!
Yeah, I think this was the ultimate winner on Come Clean. The original version on the B side of Pink Girl With The Blues was also amazing. Its just a complete work of brilliance...
This, Unreadable Communication, and Horror Head are the Holy Trinity of Curve for me. Nothing else from them hits me quite the same way these three songs do. They just push you way out of this world. The cover of I Feel Love on Way of Curve is pretty fucking amazing too.
I remember this track came out after they split for the 1st time. When I found out that they released this on the Pink Girl with the Blue EPI was happier than a pig in shit!
Yes, and they recorded at the Church, Dave & Annie's studio at the time. I think a lot of Dean's musical inventiveness came from working with them, Dave in particular.
hey deadlyelixire I love that movie razor blade smile.....awsome to know of someone else who loves it too!!! cult classic and yes I agree Lilith Silver can bite me too...mmmm "you're a real vampire lover"..HOT!

I love Curve...BTW this song is in the movie Razorblade Smile .played during the incredibly hot lesbian scene. I would let Lillith Silver bite me any day.
When I interviewed her for this album backstage at their tour. Toni said this was about her addiction to cocaine. This is her talking to her addiction.
I don't think, Come Clean has a different sound then the previous Curve albums, more industrial, influenced by electronic, samples and dance music. People didn't appreciate their change of style and this came out after their first split and reformation anticipated by their first single Pink girl with the blues
Similarities with Curve can be found only in the first Garbage album . Songs like Recovery are only Curve, not Garbage. Garbage never made albums like Come Clean, New adventures of Curve, Gift, Open day at the hate fest, even Cuckoo. Version 2.0, Beautifulgarbage, Bleed like me are very different . I stil love both bands. And Strange Little Birds is a true gem.
This might be the best song by Curve, it's perfect😊
My favorite is The Colour Hurts, but this is definitely right up there
BRILLIANCE. Still remember listening to this song on repeat walking at the beach on a cold, crisp, sunny November day back in '98 with no one else in sight.
Yeah i reckon its their best!

I’ve repeated this track a million times. It’s my favourite from them. Gold.
I heard this track in the movie Razor Blade Smile, I watched the credits to see who the artist was. What a great track. A new Curve fan.
Wow... This song still stirs my insides every time I hear it - and I've heard it a lot!! Brilliance of epic proportions.

this song makes me close my eyes and travel in time
One of CURVE'S best songs!
Over 20 years later and still goosebumps
Brilliant and sadly underappreciated song.
I remember listening to the CD in prague 1999 - completed stranded. Surreal.
Such an amazing song. I currently listen to Come Clean at least once a day (before that it was Cuckoo) and this is a perfect way to end the album.

Underrated as hell!

One of my all time favourite bands...

On the Wheel will blow your mind too.
I love Garbage, but Curve is oustanding
Yes.
I mentioned elsewhere, "Curve were Bjork BEFORE Bjork was Bjork." That goes DOUBLE for Shirley, Butch, Duke & Steve ;-)
Great memories of watching curve play this at the Shepard’s bush empire when the album came out and of course razor blade smile with Eileen daly
Saw Curve 3 times and to this day nobody will ever match how fuckin amazing they were..!
Perfection
it's so good it makes me cry

Aaaaah. Pure bliss.

@@75claymont They split from 1994-1996 and from 2005-present
Pure klass, evri recording a true wall of sound, beautiful. Always top entertainment. Wa ahead oft curve.
Love❤❤❤❤
The Best Curve track ....the original version of this on the pink girl with the blues ep
best song on the album
it's my favourite, too :)
recovery is one my favourites "come clean"'s songs! thank you for your comment :)
Interesting... the phrase "razor blade smile" comes from a line in Eurythmics 1983 song "Regrets."
interesting, because I was just thinking about the eurythimics
+Harris runner Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics introduced Dean Garcia and Toni Halliday to each other.
Yes, and they recorded at the Church, Dave & Annie's studio at the time. I think a lot of Dean's musical inventiveness came from working with them, Dave in particular.
No words. Mesmerized.
This song is still one of their best. Goddamn.
Dean Garcia is a genius. 440

The months go by
I don't think of you
The signal is frail
An imprint of what you do
So I turn up the sound
And you are nowhere
I have learnt this to my cost
But I maintain
In the slow lane
I maintain
In the slow lane
The scent goes by
Still I smell of you
You say I cry
At the merest thought of you
So you let me down
To laugh at nothing
I have learnt this for myself
But I maintain
In the slow lane
I maintain
In the slow lane

Watch out for Lilith!
@DavidMGettis you have a wonderful memory of this song :-)
I love Curve...BTW this song is in the movie Razorblade Smile .played during the incredibly hot lesbian scene. I would let Lillith Silver bite me any day.
--- the full movie is on TH-cam now, where is the scene? th-cam.com/video/8g_CkLFGWb4/w-d-xo.html --- 06MAR22
perhaps you'll like crystal method's keep coming back. It kind of reminds me of recovery
But I maintain, in the slow lane
@MsShadowbite ..................NICE!
who's recovering and from what?
When I interviewed her for this album backstage at their tour. Toni said this was about her addiction to cocaine. This is her talking to her addiction.
dope
yes I know that song and it's similar :)
Pretty fucking heavy. Dig it.
I agree with you :)
mmmm god
Always end the album with something beefy.
Radicull
@DavidMGettis POORMAN
Garbage stole their style, 100%
I don't think, Come Clean has a different sound then the previous Curve albums, more industrial, influenced by electronic, samples and dance music.

@@felix85g Doesn't change that fact that Garbage sounds/sounded exactly like Curve.

@@felix85g It's all of it. Garbage changed it up a bit to try to remove the taint, but Curve sticks as their basis.
remix ... nothing like the original
