  • Curve - Unreadable Communication
When you hear the way the others talk,
it makes you wonder what they bothered for
When you see the way opinion swings,
it makes you strive strive strive for greater things
I wasn't born to be good enough for you
I am here to be nobody's fool
When you see the way that loose lips talk,
it makes you cry cry cry for it all to stop
I would like to invite you
    to my mother's house
    to my bedroom
    to play those old records
we know all the words to
and I would like you to kiss me
to crush me to lick me
till I beg you to stop
    till you drive me crazy
    That's all it take
    a subtle movement
    That's all it takes
    to make the programme
When you hear the way loose lips talk
it makes you wonder what you bothered for
When you see the way opinion swings
it makes you strive strive strive for greater things
    That's all it takes
    a subtle movement
    That's all it takes
    to make the programme

I dont know why this has always been one of my favorite songs. The dragging bass into the chorus transition gets me every time. I just read the lyrics for the first time ... well there is that!

Es un TEMAZO 🔥🎧👌 ( Shoegaze-industrial-TripHop) No se si se dan cuenta pero esta canción fácil podría entrar en el Mezzanine de Massive Attack.

I lent this new cd to my gf at the time. I was away for a few years and she either smashed it or threw it away. Learnt a very, very valuable lesson: there's a reason you only ever give em nothing more than mixtapes.

I don't care what anyone says, but I've been a fan for a long time, despite this album got little attention than what it really deserves, but still ranks as my all time favorites ever! That's what is called PROGRESSIVE.

    • @dreikaesehochkant
      @dreikaesehochkant 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Totally! It's a shame this didn't take off as it should have, to me Cuckoo is one of the most complete and lively albums of the 90's (and maybe of all time).
Also agreed on the progressive aspect, this still sounds visionary after 28 years!

    • @robertstarkey4900
      @robertstarkey4900 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@dreikaesehochkant thanks for the reply! 😊. But I myself had a retro-thougt to the Wax-Trax days if you do remember. Started mostly industrial, but evolved into lots of electronic. Hence, Autechre, Underworld, ect. The late 90's were definitely a turning point to where we all are now. Even with the Asralworks label. Humm???

I love Curve -- from their heaviest songs to their softest. Songs like this and "Horror Head" just put so many interesting visuals in my head. You just close your eyes and imagine so much darkness and beautiful images all in one big swoop. It's great when a band can give you all of those things along with great music all at the same time. Hats off to Curve and the music they created for us.

I lived in Whistler, BC back in 1989-90, then again in 1995-1995. This album was so amazing and ambient and vital to my musicology at that time. Everyone's right: 2:24 is listening to god.

+Philip Archer I could imagine how songs like "Crystal", "Superblaster" and this one could be influenced a little by some Depeche Mode. Songs of Faith and Devotion was definitely a pretty dark piece of work, and definitely fits with Cuckoo.
