    In the old days while working in the shipyard we used large wood "sweeps" for the curved linework (which I still have). Extreme care was required when using the ink filled pens, which we had to fill and adjust the thickness by hand, to ensure the India ink did not run under the wood sweep. Some of the plastic set squares had bevelled edges which made it easier to lay down a line, that was a relief. I still have a couple of old sets of Thornton and Reifler tools which I would not dare to attempt using now. The tools available now are far more easier to use and your continued support and demonstrations are a great benefit to the community. Hoping to buy one of your finished pieces from Inktober

    It's great to know you will be participating in Inktober, purely for selfish reasons. Those reasons being that I want to see more of your amazing work!! I love your mechs especially..

    I have been looking to buy these sweeps 6:35 but couldn't find them anywhere on the internet. Please sell me some or let me know where I can purchase them.

    I'm currently doing a "draw through" of the "How To Draw" book. It could be a textbook for designers.

    What's a suitable pen body for the B-BR-6A-H-BK refill?
    The Zebra 0.7mm F301 and the modern 0.7mm Jimnie Rollerball Gel do not chamber the refill properly. Supposedly a "Jimnie RB-100" will chamber it, but they're not easy to find online.
    Ended up grabbing some Uni Powertanks and they're great. Thanks for the recommendation Scott.

    mr scott are there any books you recommend for practicing cross-sectioning and inter-sectioning, i already read your book how to draw is amazing, but was wondering if there are more basic books talking about that matter from roots which was important to study at the early years at art center before you had moved on to advanced level with industrial designs? thx

    Will definitely do inktober this year again!
    I want to ask tho, how do you deal with the ink drops that form up on the tip of the pen? Cuz I had to wipe it every 2 minutes otherwise the sketch would have a nasty ink stain

      Sebas Design He uses a cotton pad, paper towel or tissue to dab his pen frequently and avoid ink globs. This is mentioned in How To Draw.

      By doing what Thorology says in reply.

    Does the cottonwood sketchbook bleed through?

    • @scottrobertsondesign
      @scottrobertsondesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not bad at all. I usually just move a blotter sheet of paper behind each page as I work through a sketchbook just in case.

    Thank you Scott. Which particular Copic marker colour are you using for your grey initial strokes?

    • @scottrobertsondesign
      @scottrobertsondesign  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not picky, whatever is at hand. Whatever the color I tend to start with a "0" or "1" value though.
