I remember watching this on Sat mornings in my football kit, all ready to out onto ‘the green’ with my mates to practice what we had just seen . Great memories..👋😊⚽️…
I feel that George was a good combination of talent and practice. Yes he had a gift and things, don't forget he also had a lot of critical insight into the game and this advice is pretty darn valid and useful!!
Very early seventies my Father thought his son needed to this THE Best footballer. We didn't support them or anything . Took me to a Saturday match league up in Burnley. Man UTD were in yellow that day. My father told me halfway through the match to observe the crowd. Everyone was watching Best not the football. He didn't do much that day but I will never forget the magnetism of the whole crowd yes Burnley were simply watching Bests movements. It is very hard to explain but I guess as a kid it is the first time I'd witnessed such an aura .Many years later I came across it again with a deeply religious guy, the real deal. However when we left the ground my old man said take heed in life if you meet such people, be on your guard and be smart.. Now as a kid I had no idea what he was saying .Was that good or bad advice I've no idea but I will never forget that day at the football match.
George Best You are a Fantastic Football player You are the Best George Best Good bye the Belfast boy World legend Maradona Cruyff Pele George Best is the Best
Tavy@ first time i have seen george best look very tall on a field lol. At least the kids got a free pair of stylo boots. A should thinck so george's name sold about half a million pair of those boots in about a year. But this is great stuff here, a didnt expect this.
Tavy@ this wasnt 1968. This was 1970,71. George Best wasnt just the greatest player in the world between 1965 to 1972. He was also the greatest entertainer on tv during that time. And there was great entertainment in comedians, magicians, singers, tv shows like live at the london palliaduim, and alot of great acts too, but if man utd where on match of the day when George Best was playing for them all the men and boys and woman and girls and grannys would switch tv channels just to watch him becouse he was just fantastic in what he could do with the ball when he wanted to entertain the crowd with his tricks and even his dribbling was just brilliant to watch and hitting 60 yard passes with both feet right onto the players foot. There was so much he could do its hard to explain it all. people know magic at the palladium by magicians isnt real except for kids. But what george was doing was real. Thats the beauty of football it isnt rehearsed. So the tv crews knew a saturday night at the palliaduim just couldnt go on at the same time as match of the day! And when coloured tv came out in 1967 there was no competition! Looking at this old film here with george teaching the young boys its hard to believe he was finished only 3 years later at age 26. He was 24 here but by 26 he had lost that great ability, he could still do great stuff buts thats only becouse players like him never lose there skill they just get slower and slower... And to players like him that makes a huge diffrence !!!!!!!!! rip george and thancks
There's been much discussion to when this footage filmed. The VHS video release for the footage states during the 1968/69 season, which I don't believe it is. Elsewhere I've seen during the 1969/70 season and 1972 (BFI Website)?
Best was my fav for Utd ever. I remember these videos. I thought I was in heaven when this came on tv. Anybody know the exact year? Thanks so much for uploading. Your a legend just like best was !!
Did the youths in this video..get to keep the stylo boots...?..in 1970..even the word was probably not the used that much..this may just been referred to as a coaching film...
Filmed in the summer of 1971 at my old school, Frecheville Comprehensive, Sheffield. I knew many of the boys featured.
How lucky were they!!!
The summer of 71 ..

Ur 'Ol Man' was smart..I would imagine he was talking about idolizing someone too much& too close,it's easy to miss the flaws!
