    thanks for this - been waiting for review of this bike. Shame it wasn't unlocked as I'd like to see what it's real top speed is.
    looked like it had a fair bit more to offer if it was hitting the limit up a hill

      I think it would fly along if unlocked. It felt like it wanted to go but was electronically held back. Great fun and agile bike. Ride safe! Please sub/like 👍🏼

    on paper this is the perfect bike for me but the high price and the average components (why not a Bafang motor? why not hydraulic brakes?) plus the stories on the Mate user groups of poor reliability put me off. I might have to go to London and view/test one.

      It is really good. It felt solid and there isn’t much too go wrong. Not sure why a different motor but it looks solid, felt nice to ride it with great power delivery. Power came in strong but maybe a setting could be changed as it did feel slightly like it wanted to run away with me on it! But, brakes can be changed if you wish, hydraulic could be done later but the regular brakes felt enough for now as they have discs. I think hybrid would be great such as zoom brakes. They’re both in one and would be cheap easy fix. Like £50 total I think . Go and try it at PET if you are able. The link is in the description. Ride safe! Please sub/like

    Where can I find this 500w version to buy? Can't find it anywhere, just the 250w

      I’m not sure, where are you based. I deal with PET in London

      @@SuperMet Thanks for your answer! I'm in Barcelona, but even PET only sells the 250W version :/
      My guess is that Mate discontinued the 500W version because of the e-bike laws :(
      As a 100Kg person, I would benefit from the 500W, it's not a speed thing, those laws are silly.

      I think I'll go with the Zooz 750, I'm just a bit concerned about lower back pain due to the BMX posture for longer rides.. the Mate X could be an option but I HATE those Fat Tires :D

      Go for another bike not electric. Then add a hub motor and battery. 500/1000w. You’ll save a fortune and have exactly what you want. I think it maybe better for you and give a cool unique ebike. Ride safe!

      @@SuperMet thanks that’s a great option actually! Do you recommend any good online stores for motors and parts?

    Costs too much. There are multiple bikes that look exactly the same with similar specs that are much much cheaper

      Agreed. There are cheaper options but over 60% of this type of bike are £1200 upwards and the Mate City isn’t far off that price. It does feel very sturdy as well. Ride safe and please sub/like

    Riding in traffic with no helmet??

    • @SuperMet
      @SuperMet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I know it was totally my mistake! I forgot it as I usually always use helmets for safety. Idiot on this occasion!

      that's the least of his worries!- in the eyes of the (stupid) law he was technically riding an uninsured, unregistered and untaxed moped with no crash helmet ;) (as I do everyday)
