    Just discovered today my rocker panels, jack points are rusted bad surface rust in other places and god knows what else on my 96 coupe M3. 😔 I love the car but I don't have the skill set to do this myself. I'm sure a shop if they even would do a rust job it would cost so much money smh honestly don't even know what to do.

      Luis I felt the same exact way. I figured it’s too much to get it repaired (not cost effective). So if I don’t try I’ll drive it to the scrap yard. I was sick to my stomach. So I bought a welder and some sheet metal and gave it a try. This was my first time attempting anything like this. It worked great. Just go for it and drive the car and enjoy it! Let me know if you have any questions. Don’t be afraid to chop that car up, it’s the only thing that will keep it on the road.

    looks good, i have just gotten myself a regular e36 myself, and have some rust underneath, so great seeing how you fix holes and such for a newbie like me:)

      Just make sure all the surfaces are clean and chase the rust until you hit bare metal, it will always come back.

      @@114RIDES Will the rust come back even after getting to bare metal and sealing/painting?

      Juan Savinon sorry maybe my last reply was a bit confusing. As long as you expose the rust and get into good clean metal you should have no issues. It's when you leave a small amount or miss some that will blow the whole repair. Triple check don't worry about how large the area is to repair as long as you get all the rust out and off.

    great video man! about to do the same thing on my e36 this made me feel so much better about it lol

      Yeah my heart sunk when I starting getting into it. But I thought why not chop it up and see what happens. I might just learn something. Next time I would def go with a mig and some gas. The flux core just blows through sheet metal and made a lot more work. Good luck and stay tuned!

    The rear bulkhead is standard on sedans. Folding rear seats were optional on sedans. That bulkhead is what makes the sedans stiffer than the coupes.

    • @114RIDES
      @114RIDES  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome, thanks for the info, mine appears to be a base model.

    • @davidb3966
      @davidb3966 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The B pillar in the sedan is the big difference, not the fixed rear seat. The coupe has a smaller B pillar and big door opening.
      Your fixed rear seat is fairly rare, however. Especially if the car is a non-sunroof model.

      Awesome info guys, my car has a sunroof that is in need of repair we plan on tackling that in an upcoming video. I haven’t come across another M3 with this bulkhead pretty cool!

      @@114RIDES I've got a non-sunroof, fixed rear seat 328i in my garage awaiting an S52/ZF swap . . . and some rust repair. I'd suggest ditching the sunroof and getting a delete panel- that's what I did with my M3 coupe.

    The piece where the arm rest is was still in on mine . They are cut slightly so u can punch it out . I had to on mine . But I have rust on my Rocker panel going behind my front driver wheel . It goes from the rocker to the actual body about 3 inches . I hope I can cut it and weld a new piece but if u can take a look at a photo give me ur opinion. Can’t find anyone near me who has the knowledge of rust repair .
