It's a good thing to watch a review in kilometres and the right side steering wheel. Being in South Africa and Australia is a challenge for getting relevant car reviews on TH-cam.
Hey dude awesome video I’m picking up one of cars today I can’t wait to drive it. Thanks for the video it’s very informative and entertaining keep it up
Just over 1 year ago, I bought a new 2019 WRX Premium with some extras and CVT and it cost $56,000 on the road. Comprehensive insurance was $2000 extra. If you are going to give a price, make sure you tell the full story not just the RRP.
I've put 10k miles on my '19 WRX, it's an 80/20 split on highway/city. I get 28.2 MPG combined and around 420 miles on a tank. The one thing I have noticed is the power band is not linear, it has 2 power bands, one around the 4-5k mark and another around the 6-7k range.
I have a MY18 Premium model in automatic and have found it’s the best CVT I have driven and I love the car and all that it does and can do. I love a manual car but Subaru Manual Boxes have always had a very agricultural feel heavy clutch and are overall very clunky so I’ll continue to enjoy the brilliant 6 Speed Man in my MX5.
ive also heard great things about the subie cvt. theyve done theyre homework and leg work when they developed it. Its about time the stigma and hate around automatics comes to an end.
At first i hated it, but it's actually starting to grow on me. It seems to make shifting easy when shifting at higher revs and perfectly rev matches the next gear if I am fast enough. Where as letting it drop to idle would produce a big jerk when the engine needs to match wheel speed. I have only drivin 500 miles on mine so far, but definitely is taking some getting used to.
@@illustrated369…...thanks for the feedback....Once I've broken in the engine and change the oil, I'll see how the rev-hang issue behaves at higher revs.
@@jjlad5037 It really takes some practice in this car, just today I felt like I went backwards and jerking every shift, haha. I am still on the break in myself, to me higher revs is still about 3.8 to 4.2k. I feel like if I am going to baby it I need to really take my time with the clutch release and let that rev hand drop, and at the same time the throttle is really sensitive. I find keeping up one of the displays with the throttle/accel percentage helpful for giving me a feel just how sensitive it is. I like the one on the boost gauge myself. Good luck with the new car, it really is fun to drive!
@@illustrated369...after driving stick for over 40-years, 10-years of them competitively...one would think that I shouldn't need to learn how to do it properly again. The clutch/throttle design of the WRX is a design flaw. It will be noted to the Dealer on my first service.

bro the last thing that people are interested in are the heated seats, first thing people want to know is the performance you show them what the car can do then the nerdy boring AC and bluetooth come as bonuses because gauss what every body has a laptop, ac and couch at home.
alieninsurgent the Type R and RS are much closer to the price point, power, and performance of the STI and a Golf R. A WRX would be more comparable to a focus ST, Golf GTI, and Civic Si maybe for similar category (price, power, performance). Admittedly it’s the only one there with AWD but that doesn’t mean it necessarily takes the lead. I love my WRX but it’s not taking on an RS or Type R any day.
Just throwing my 2 cents in on the shorts. You look positively scrumptious in them hahah. Don't let the haters stop you from doing it again. You got the goods...show 'em off!
I was going to buy on at 39 but insurance was twice what I was paying monthly so I decided to buy a nicer truck and invest my money on principal vs insurance!
hey guys! i know this video is a bit old and im not expecting to many responses, but i just saved up a good amount for a downpayment on a car, im looking at a couple of 2015 wrx's. was just wondering if you guys could help me choose which one! 1: 2015 wrx. cvt sport tech package with 40,000kms (about) 2:2017 wrx 6spd manual, sport tech with 71,000 the 2017 is about 4,000$ more and has 30,000kms more then the cvt.. im still a student and commute about 30kms to and from school and work every day, but ive always been a fan of wrx's was just looking for some help choosing the car. i really enjoy driving standard but im kinda leaning towards the cvt based on ease of use and daily driver.. if any one has any experience with either of these cars feel free to reply!!
Subaru only sells around 2k WRX & STI’s a month here in the USA. The companies SUV’s keeps the factories humming and the lights on. From a business standpoint I can see why they are still using the antiquated 2.5l flat four and have not invested any money into the current platform. Let’s hope the next generation Subaru WRX has a hatchback option!
450km to fuel up is it possible? I love Subaru oil filter. Very accessible but not sure if this is effective in trapping particulates compare to the conventional location which is below the engine bay n inverted.
Not sure why your downing the CVTs. The newer models are doing a lot better in terms of reliability and can handle more torque, granted your want to grab a 2nd cooler and an upgraded torque converter, but overall they've been doing better then previous years. I my self am picking up a 2019 WRX Limited CVT here next month, looking forward to it since I am trading in a 2016 Focus SE Hatch with just over 20k miles lolz.
People ALWAYS zonk sports cars for being "TOO SMALL" for passengers...SMH. It's a shame how most sports car nowadays are becoming a YACHT-sized piece of trash. There's always public transportation if you're about serving passengers. P.S. Carry a man-purse if you need space.
Agree but I like the notchy shifting. I find it satisfying. The rev hang is terrible. Kills the driving experience for me. It's a great commuting car. Kills it in the mountains here in Colorado.
Those right hand drive cars are good for people who are left handed, I'm glad I was born in a country that has left hand drive cars because I'm right handed.
