I feel like these won’t be actual Mayan ruins. I think this island will be one of the other 5 deaths that InGen had purchased and began construction of a new resort on just before the Jurassic world incident. The Mayan architecture is just the theming they chose for this resort.
People thinking that this film will be a prequel of such seems to forget or didn’t know that there was a JWR set photo of a head maquette (or possibly animatronic) of the Dominion Parasaurolophus, and we know these Parasaur variants only existed after 2018, so this is definitely post-dominion. More than anything Kongo-related, let's remember the Pre-Columbian ruins were a part of the Jurassic Park Trespasser video game, and often mentioned in some of the extended lore pre-Jurassic World. David Koepp might have borrowed stuff from this pre-established canon. As for the ruins suggesting in-canon dinosaur/human interaction BEFORE they were even resurrected by DNA meddling, I hope that's not true because it verges on stupidity, in my humble opinion. The point of the Jurassic franchise is less about dinosaurs and more on the folly of neo-capitalism messing with technology it doesn't fully control. If we introduce creationist-level of idiocy with late surviving non-mutant dinosaurs, the franchise muddies its own focus even further than it already did. Pre-Columbian cultures had many reptile-like Gods including Quetzalcoatl which gives its name to the giant pterosaur. So I just hope it's a sort of aesthetic link, not a narrative one.
My theory is that they are on Site C which is where InGen discovered lost civilization and evolved dinosaurs which they tried to reverse engineer for Jurassic Park. The Amber story was “just something for the tourists”.
@@cuttothechase6855 that is the worst case scenario, as it retcons everything. Also Ingen already had established amber mines, just like the one in the beginning of the first movie.
