    If you ever do a Blood Sorcery or other appropriate discipline breakdown, I’d love to hear your thoughts on how Koldunism could be brought into V5. Specifically fire, water, earth, air paths.
    I always felt like its more spirit magic and tied to their ownership of the land than blood magic. So I feel like giving or having a Tzimisce learn Blood Sorcery and then homebrewing rituals just doesn’t quite fit as the blood based main powers don’t quite feel right to me. But for the life of me I can’t really think of other amalgams besides that Protean 5 + Animalism one which is basically the path of spirit. I think Auspex would be a fitting component of Koldunism though.

      I completely agree. Koldunism fits closer in with the Hecata's Oblivion discipline and it's rituals but tied more to land wights or spirits rather than wraiths. I will have to do a videoon that for sure.

    Interesting video. Auspex is my favorite discipline even though it proves much less deadly early on. But knowledge and information are power. Mind and senses I think at higher levels trump physical disciplines.

      I completely agree. Auspex is a highly underrated power.

      Auspex is also the most "logical" one to wrap a new player's head around.. Because animals have all KINDS of crazy senses (and ways of communicating) that humans don't...It's a nice "ease into" the whole "you are a supernatural predator of the night" ability. (that is also EXTREMELY useful, plus it keeps GROWING with the vamp)

    One thing you can always do with Auspex is have a character that RELIES on it, keep rolling humanity.. Because if they are using Auspex all the time, on everything ,then they are relying on NOT being human.. They are basically listening more and MORE to the Beast (at least that's how I took it)..
    Heightened Senses is easy to get characters to keep it OFF.. Eyes? well, they can't walk with their head down if every fissure is magnified to a chasm... And if they come in out of the dark, a house with a lamp is BLINDING... a person with a flashlight is ABSOLUTELY distracting and disorienting, a MIRROR? terrifying and fascinating, a city is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to navigate alone... Ears? Someone "listening to" a conversation that's being said a ways away, or quietly spoken is going to be absolutely DEAFENED by someone with a different-pitch voice, or a loud car that went down the street, 2-3 streets over...It's not so much the vamps CAN'T get used to the stimuli, its the fact that their once human brains, their "consciousness" cannot "keep the feed up" 24/7... It has to be "shut down" when not in use actively.. Just while "on", it remains on without any effort.
    "scanning a crowd" was a level 6 auspex power called "Sense Emotion"... Until VTM:R and fully added/worked into Aura Sight in V20 (DA, I think.)

      @VoivodeMekhet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do like that idea, for rolling humanity due to auspex but I think that would depend on the chronicle/character tenets. If they had the "Do not become a monster" thing going for them I might have that come up at times. I think that v5 got it right with auspex, it almost feels like you could run a Necromancer of Auspex alone. So much intrigue without the need of involving outside parties.

      @@VoivodeMekhet With the new way of auspex always seeing ghosts(with sense the unseen)... It's possible.. But Auspex has always been RULER of the "investigation" type story.. I mean Spirit's Touch, Aura Sight and some of the others alone can make a forensic lab look kind of primitive in comparison. With Possession and maybe even a little obfuscate any vamp can "simulate" a haunting to people quite EASILY also. Anyway, thank you for responding.

    As someone that studied mental illnesses, I disagree with your interpretation of obeah. Sometimes a patient need to be soothed before they can work « their shit » out. Either with hypnosis, medication or Obeah. Salubris would not use this power to create a sociopath. As you said, intention is key to determined if a power is evil.

    I really enjoy hearing you talk about specific powers and how they can be used. Helps me when thinking about character concepts. I would appreciate if you could add timestamps for specific powers because it helps when I want to quickly look up your thoughts on it.

      That is an awesome idea, I will work on learning how to do that.

    I allow bonus to my players using "Premonition" before combat just like a Memoriam flashback!

    You know....some of these powers should be something synonymous with Protean, especially heightened sense and Sense the unseen. It sucks that a Gangrel would have to get these separate powers to truly have 'heightened senses'.
    Also, VM, from listening to you speak on this video, I know for a fact that you could do a dead ringer impersonation of Patton Oswald, especially for his character Eugene in Bob's Burgers.

      Completely agree with you on the Gangrel thing. Never been compared to Patton Oswald, lol.

    Yeah that was definitely the best sequence in the Twilight Saga. Even though it’s not my favorite, I do appreciate your willingness to cite it as an example

    • @VoivodeMekhet
      @VoivodeMekhet  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol, thanks. As much as the material is not my cup of tea I do acknowledge the Twilight Saga is roughly based off Masquerade so most of the powers, if not all of them are based on Masquerade Disciplines.

    Heh you’re a nice st. I’ve seen sts consider auspex a way to look outside yourself, and begin to reach out. One of my previous st’s made telepathy risky by treating exposure to minds with derangements like the mental version of frenzying with gangrel clan bane at the time. Take a mental dive into a mind is like diving into a canal during an algae bloom. You know it’s gonna be slimy but you never know what comes back out with you. Coincidentally if a malkavian spc happens to have secret manchurian candidate ghouls with fragments of their clan bane scattered throughout the city well…
    Add that to banes specters and wraiths as antagonists that may see you looking back. Or attaching themselves to an auspex user because the resonance/emotions/events are fresh to their minds…

    I once had a Malkavian named Apollo St. Claire, he was a young 19-year-old actor, recently out of university who have immense academic knowledge in Drama, Acting, and Classics (Greek Study), his knowledge led to his sire embracing him, and his sire believing himself to be Zeus, Apollo's curse manifested the same as his sire's making Apollo believe he was actually Apollo the Greek God of Prophecies, initially, he and his sire was Anarchs believing the entire WOD was Olympus and Kindred were all Gods in their own right with the multitude of Kindred Faiths, they eventually joined the Camarilla to influence the Kindred Politics to align with their fantasy.
    Apollo for his auspex would carry around stuffed animals, and bears and would slice them open and place his rouse check of blood inside the stuffed teddy animals to call upon a Premonition being highly powerful in Auspex, he also was a great storyteller for Kindred entertainment in Elysium, telling Greek Stories he made up or were influenced by a premonition he had received, he would then believe his own fake stories to be fact and this led to his premonitions being cryptic and dramatized to those who would receive his oracular ability translation.
    He Became Keeper Of The Elysium, and was really sociable and charming, often making friends despite his condition however, there was a dark-side to him.

      That is really cool. I love the idea of vampires acting as if they were a pantheon. I had a Malkavian who also had a derangement that went from sire to childe. Mine was afflicted with the idea that he was Malkav, that when a member of that line embraced they believed they were passing the clan founder through the blood.

    Man just the first 15 minutes of this, the way you express yourself, the feelings behind what some may just call abilities, this is phenomenal. Your descriptions of the addictive nature of not only disciplines but hightened senses struck a major chord with me. So happy to have found this channel.

    It's interesting that they don't have Astral Projection in V5, which is Auspex 5 in V20 and Vampire the Requiem. That seems like a great way to spy on the Second Inquisition.

      You know I didn't even notice. You're completely right though. In everyother system I've seen that I can think of Astral Projection or it's Dark Age equivolent Spirit Walk is right there at number 5. Weird.

    As a player who always likes to be the one to know what's going on in the world around them, Auspex is 100% necessary to get an upper hand. The best discipline to avoid an ambush.
