East Ridge is a city in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 20,979. East Ridge is bordered by Chattanooga to the west, north, and east, and the Georgia state line to the south. It is part of the Chattanooga, TN-GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name of the city comes from its location due east of Missionary Ridge. The Bachman Tubes beneath Missionary Ridge link East Ridge with downtown Chattanooga.

Born and raised here. I remember when Ringgold road was 2 lanes wide and built on a rounded hump. It went over the ridge. ( I played near the tunnel formes, in Ridgedale, for the Bachmann Tubes (the East Ridge tunnels) and the Brainerd Tunnels. They were 2 lanes wide, with a railed sidewalk.
East Ridge's tunnels were 1 1/2 lanes wide with a railed sidewalk. That was back in the early 1950's)
This was back before Food City was completed and before the new sewers and ditches and sidewalks went into construction, down Ringgold rd.
I VERY MUCH THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. You got extremely lucky on the red lights. I usually get hung by at leat half of them. They are all timed. If you do the speed limit all the way from the interstate to the tunnels, you're percentage of going all the way thru without stopping is comparable to winning the state lotto. Good Luck !!!

Wow, memory lane---I lived here during high school in the early 90's. I swear it hasn't changed much...just a whole lot more "buy here, pay here" car lots. LOL, can't believe the old one level motels are still there. Geez...time forgot ol East Ridge! Thanks for the drive!
Wish it didnt stop before the tunnels. I used to live here. And Ive even been homeless here. Still loved it.
