Hey guys! Today we are kicking off our new DCS F-4E Phantom II Complete Tutorial Series by taking a look at Dive Toss.
We are tackling Dive Toss first in our DCS F-4E Phantom II tutorial series because it serves as both the easiest, most flexible and accurate way to deliver free fall munitions and it forms the building blocks and basis for all of the other weapon delivery methods such as Target Find for delivering LGB’s.
Dive Toss was used to great effect by American, Israeli and Iranian F-4E pilots in the later stages of the Vietnam War including Operations Linebacker I and II, The Yom Kippur War, the 1982 Lebanon War and the Iran-Iraq War…

While Dive Toss was the forefather of the highly accurate and computerized CCIP and CCRP systems of the F-Teen series and other fighters, in the F-4E it’s a very hands on system that requires good crew coordination and systems knowledge.

@@Spudknocker I hope the M2kC will still be around, it's one of my favourite planes in the sim. I'm assuming the Strike Eagle and Harrier may well be lost, but the Mirage, at least, is close to finished now. Fingers crossed there's a way through.
Love this tutorial, BTW. And its siblings. It's enabled me to get stuff done, I can now go back at my leisure and learn all the OCD IRL procedures when I want to. But it's nice to not have to learn all that stuff before shooting things down/blowing stuff up. In short, I'm loving the Phantom. The Mirage F1 is probably my actual favourite right now, (EDIT: the Phantom may unseat it from this position, though) so I love the 4th Gen stuff, but for the Phantom I was a little concerned about Jester. I have the Tomcat and the Apache but I've never really gelled with the AI WSO or CP/G. But for some reason, maybe it's the updated Jester 2.0, I'm finding the 'person' in the rear seat adds value rather than makes things more complex, for me anyway. Petrovich kinda works in the Hind, but largely because the CP/G has a simpler job, I reckon. But Jester in the Phantom actually makes me feel like I'm not flying solo.
Well you gave a lot of great information on this tutorial, like the bombing table page. I thought I had to fly on a specific dive angle and speed. But now I know that only the bomb type and delivery modes are important. That way the attack profile is more flexible, and the process is very similar to the A-4E bombing computer delivery. Thanks a lot!
No problem man! Keep in mind that is only for the DT DL and TGT Find as well as other DT derived methods, old fashioned direct bombing still needs all those inputs

I’ve never used the bombing table for Dive Toss and it’s been great. Didn’t even know I was supposed to. Seems redundant
Nice video! Small correction, the drag coefficient is dependent on altitude and speed, not just the weapon. If you adjust the values, you will see the drag coefficient changing. The changes are typically rather minor though, so it is likely that even if you do not fly your desired profile accurately, bombs will still hit somewhere around the target. It starts to matter on extreme values though, or if you really need pinpoint precision 🙂
Hey spud! Can you please to a tutorial for the RIO? My buddy hates piloting and we’re gonna be a duo in a single phantom and we can only find stuff for cold start and radar tutorials

what about the TL mode? For high level bomb run?
Tried this earlier today, regardless of my centre bomb target settings, my bombs are over shooting mostly. I've not had any accurate hits. Does this require anything else I'm missing? I'm doing either full or BATH alignment, have the navigation mode thingies set to computer. Yet to have any real accurate drops, at least compared to where the pipper starts. Going as smooth as possible on my pull
Kinda looks like as i'm on my dive, just before i'll drop - Jester is radaring another point on the ground past the target :S

Everything is so analog lol. Antiquated. Kinda similar to the F-5. Its actually pretty simple, just cant forget anything.
