Wiley Is Like The Dr Dre Of Grime Because Of Certain Similarity’s... They Have Both Been In Their Genre For A Long Time And Still Managed To Go With The Times...
He is such a breath of fresh air. Intellectually in his narrative about his art, life and the progression of grime. A true player of grime, the 'Godfather' of this explosive creation of expression and lyrics. Wiley is someone I can listen to with massive interest and I love his creative musical art.
ShackZone TV loads of time for him being humble, he was younger than me shotting at raves, thought he'd got arrogant till I see him when he was performing and spoke as he is now. Like seeing his influence hopefully on the generation under us, spoken real truth
For all those asking why he mentions Dizzee, this is an interview. Interviews consist of questions. Wiley was asked a question regarding Dizzee, which he answers as he should. If he were to refuse to answer it he would come across like he still has a problem. He gives him his credits and not act like the man never existed or contributed to grime, that is maturity.
Would just like to say that teenagers in England in the 1990s were making music in their bedrooms on computers and releasing it on their own labels which spawned the jungle and drum n bass scene which is now known worldwide. Andy C one of the biggest names in drum n bass in the world started off as a 15 year old making music in his bedroom on a computer in the early 90s and he started his own label called Ram by himself in the 90s. Labels like Moving Shadow, Suburban Base, Production House, Brain Records, Strictly Underground were all started by teenagers in the 90s before Grime. Major labels were shunned back then. The grime lot wasn't the first to do this
Yep . why don't you just say 'hardcore' ? Led to drum n bass ? What . you trying to be generic as poss to keep the confusion at bay ? My mate from Bedford had friends who were huge in the hardcore scene - criminal mindz i think .

Wiley knows his music that's what I love about him hes very clued up with other genres that's what makes him a bad man! He just dont listen or surround himself with his own culture he researches and even sees that other styles have that connection with him!!
Great Interview from Both Wiley and the interviewer well worth a listen and to get some inside knowledge on what is going on not just about Grime but life in general 10/10!
The grime scene blew up because of the shift in the club scene circa 2012. During this time there was a demand for double time music. Bass and house music was being played and DJs would drop old school grime tunes in their mixes. The genres mixed seamlessly during raves etc. The people who grew up listening to grime finally had a chance to comfortably enjoy the music in a club/party setting. Historically, nights that played grime would get shut down (circa 2004). This audience was also now old enough to get into clubs/raves without trouble and had money to spend during these nights out. 2012 also saw the rise of the DJProducer. They would incorporate Grime elements in their own music which brought the sound to a new and wider audience. As there was now a spotlight on Grime, producers began finding ways to polish the original rough and unprofessional sound. This gave it better presence in clubs and on the radio. In my opinion, lead artists need to give more credit to the Grime producers and DJs.
Wiley is influential without a doubt in the starting of the grime scene, but he has to still pay homage to jungle, drum n bass, and garage mcs then niche that paved the the way for what we know as UK grime today, we had general levy, mc gq, the ganja crew, mo fire crew, etc... And then the transition to grime... Never forget the roots of where it all started coz they were all as influential although niche areas that helped to mould the grime scene..
In music everything is a gamble. There it is. No one knows if it's gonna work, and when it doesnt work people give up so easily. Nah man! Keep going! Big up Wiley

It is almost like an enormous mistake, that happened on purpose because of his passion and love for Grime music.
