great video.. i would like to ask is it ok to connect the power source directly to camera through the power adapter ..? what i mean i have black magic 6k pro and its coming along with power adapter which you can charge your battery through..so can i use the camera while the battery charging at same time ???
maybe possible with some gimbals but not a good idea sharing that much power. cross pollution problems with frequencies and battery wont last. for my gimble I power it with the handle like normal and have a belt clip Vmount battery attached to my waist, to keep the weight down. especially if youre using a follow focus being powered by the gimble
The RavPower NP 550 does fit in the 6K Pro, that's what I used in this video for that section. Think the supply chain issues are hitting a bunch of these sellers on Amazon, so I updated description to have directly from RavPower's site if that's a route you want to go.
I bought the belt clip V lock plate to lighten my load for ultimate run n gun rig. use a light monopod with a ulanzi quick release claw. I use only stabilized lenses for that work.. but even regular lenses hold well on the monopod. for locked down shots, I built a small rig with the Vmount mini battery pack and a manual follow focus. oh, and then theres the NP battery mount for those runs where I dont want to deal with Vmounts at all. grabbed some super cheap NP "fat bricks" and they run about 3 hours. just attach the plate to my cold shoe mount. love that thing
Great test! Can you put off-brand batteries like the ravpower you showed in the BM 6K PRO battery grip? Will that function or hurt the grip or camera? Thinking of getting a handful of ravpowers for back-up/hotswapping.
Thanks! This is exactly what I plan on doing on days I want to run just the grip, I tested it and it worked, just ran for slightly less time than Sony batteries (they are slightly less capacity). Should be good to go!
@@georgemichaelofficial Awesome thanks! Can't wait till mine arrives. Btw, with the BM batteries (1 in camera, 2 in battery grip- 3 total running) shouldn't the runtime be 3 hrs total? That's what I've seen online but you've tested the 3 batts only last 2 hrs in one go?
@@georgemichaelofficial Will the RavPower charger (one comes in amazon kit) charge theblackmagic/sony batteries as well? Would love to have another charger.
@@georgemichaelofficial I actually sent mine back. didnt like having to buy a cage made for the grip.plus NP batteries are so cheap I can quick swap if I run out for run n gun. bought one of those lion nanos and that thing rocks. bit expensive but then so was the 6kpro.
This was a top tier video, thank you for being concise and incredibly helpful
eyyy thanks! loved making this one
unbiased, no nonsense info video. very informative, thank you!
I myself am full of nonsense, but didn't put any here. Happy you enjoyed it!
Power. Now you’re speaking to my heart ❤️
Is it because you love the movie?
It’s cause I work for the Power Company!
oh this makes much more sense

Thanks for the great video! Do you know if this exact vmount to dtap combo works with the 6k FF?
nope as I don't have that camera - brain says yes
Is there a video about the 2 pin connector? Lord it’s hard to see and mine doesn’t seem to work anymore.. great video
You don’t need scripts
I've not made one, but agree it's annoying cable to deal with
What about power from the gimbal?
haven't used it with a gimbal yet so I don't have those numbers.
Ronin s and moza air 2 can power the camera from the gimbal,

NP-F550 doesn't fit in the 6k pro , does Rav Power have a NP-F570? I can't find one

@@georgemichaelofficial ahhh thank you so much
Thanks man!!! Can't find any BM batteries! The RavPower seems like a good alternative for now!
happy to help! Indeed they've been a good option for me as well.
How can conect the power bank to the Blackmagic ?
me from India, any external bank solution for 6k pro
all the ones I've recommended in this video! Not sure where you get your goods from but same basics apply
Precise. Great video. Thanks!
Thank YOU!

happy that works for ya! As someone who shoots with VMount compatible lights, it makes sense for me to stay in that ecosystem.
@@georgemichaelofficial most of my lights are the cheap ones that use NP batteries ha ha. they're also cheap so im good there

Yeah I didn't get a full three hours when testing, could be down to user error but it was more like 2 & change

Yup!
V lock all the way
My preference as well! But for those times where you just need to get a few shots, and maybe be a little clandestine, the grip is perfect.
