THE TRICK TO CUTTING A PERFECT CIRCLE EVERY TIME

  • In this video, I’m showing you how I use a circle burner to cut a perfect circle on any project. I’m Austin Ross of arosswelding and on this channel, I share my experiences as a rig welder and in my mobile welding business. Maybe you have seen me using my circle burner for torch before in a pipe fence video. Today I’m using the circle burner for straight torch to cut perfect circle in thin sheet metal. I love this circle cutting jig because it’s small and compact so I can try it in my welding rig toolboxes easily. After using the circle burner for pipe I’ve realized how handy the metal circle cutter is and how many times before it would have come in handy.
If you are searching for Circle burner for torch, circle cutting jig for torch, pipe fabrication tools, pipefitting tools and welding fabrication tricks you are in the right place. I’m also talking other welding tools I carry on my rig as essential tools for welding. Lately I’ve been home working for myself but for years I was a pipeline welder and pipe welder. This tools is great for pipe welding and pipe fabrication also! If you are doing pipe-fitting or a pipe fitter looking for pipefitter tools I would check these out. I'm a Texan; I weld in a tee-shirt.
My closet is divided with one good, clean Texas business suit (clean Levi's & a tee-shirt) on one side and everything else ( read that -- clothing that appears to be made of Swiss cheese) hanging on the other side. 😂

The thinner the material is you need to put just a little more angle on your torch. Like the old iron worker told me that makes you material thicker. Over the years I have got pretty good with a torch. Like you said getting good with a torch is a must. I got better with a torch when I found out it is a whole lot less grinding with a grinder if you can make real good cuts with a torch. I hate grinding.

Do you have a candle that smells like carburetor cleaner? You are right about cutting thin stuff with a torch! Every time I have to use a torch on it, I find it takes a couple of cuts to get back into it. Takes a lot steeper angle and a faster speed. Easy way is to use a plasma cutter and a guide or the circle burner I made for it. I hate using plasma for 5/8" and up. Too slow for my liking. Enjoyed the video!

A *trick* to not have to use a set of plyers is either *braze a little of the end of the bolt,* that touches steel. Or cut from a brass rod approx. dia .of the bolt, a small piece, to go between the end of the bolt, and the steel rod. Not recommended when your changing the rod from say a 18"inch rod down to a say 6" inch rod. Will just fall out on the floor, and of course you won't be luck enough to find it. That's when you should braze the end of the bolt. The reason for doing this, is because the brass is softer than the steel, will let you get a much tighter fit (because your collapsing the brass) and a secure fit, i.e., won't become undone / loose. Also get a Brass hammer, and or a Lead hammer to hit your punches with. Your'll stop peening over the top edges of the punch.
