love your vlog! i just started uni last month too,, and yeppp it's very hard to adapt with the new environment sobsss it's not easy to make friends but pretty sure it will slowly get better andd good luck for your studies!
i’m wrapping up my studies rn and applied for UM too! same course as you (i think) but i’m so scared that my pointer is not enough to get accepted there TT
Nooo don’t la be negative! I’m a firm believer that the world will put you to where you fit best so naturally you don’t have to worry about the things you can’t control 🤗
Hi, would you recommend um to an international student? Or do you think going to a private uni would be better despite the much higher fees? Or any other unis you’d suggest? I’ve been thinking of applying to um for a while now, but still unsure. I’m worried about being unable to fit it and make friends. Also, from what I’ve seen the dorms are pretty worn out and apparently there’s monkeys and lizards around campus?? 😭 PS. Sorry for all the questions 😅 I’m trying to hear as many opinions possible before making the final decision
Hi I'm a foundation student from UM. As far as I know, there are quite many international students here. Also, here, there are many students from other races such as Chinese, Indian and others as Malaysia is a multiracial country. You can say that everyone here can speak fluent English. About the dormitory, there are many dormitories here and usually international students get to live in KK12, the biggest dorm as shown in the video. I live in KK12 and it's comfortable, unlike other dorms. There may be monkeys around here but mainly at few spots only as the campus is pretty huge covered by forests. I think studying here is not bad. The quality of the university is the best but I would say it's a bit hard as people expect you to be high achieving here
@@izzahzhm thank you for the info!! I’ve been to Malaysia multiple times on holiday so I’m aware of the general atmosphere in the country but obviously living there would be different. In private unis there’s a lot of students from my country, not the case in public unis like UM, but I guess that could actually be a good thing lol. Saw some people say the uni ranking is misleading and the quality isn’t as good as they claim so it’s good to hear from someone actually studying there. Deciding on a uni is so hard but I’m leaning more and more towards UM at this point
@@El-yo5zk hi , are you applying for the year 2023/2024 ? , I’ve been thinking about it too but the fees are killing me and I know no one there 😢it’s so hard being eldest in my family , may I ask if you have someone to answer your queries ..I tried emailing the uni but I’d like to receive answers before that thanks in advance, sorry for writing a lot 😊
@@Anonymous-yq9hb hi, yes I’m planning to apply for October this year. Sorry, I don’t have anyone to answer my questions either. I’ve just been finding more info about the uni on the internet. What exactly are the queries you have?

Hi there!! it's initially hard for me to make friends here too because I'm a first-year student. Making friends could be challenging but its not impossible! Malaysians generally are very friendly and open to everyone. There's a community for Arab students, so maybe you can get more personal help from the seniors there if you need any assistance. I can say 90% of the students speak English very well. So No worries hehe. Goodluck :)
