    Hello Micke, it is FL024 since you were already above the transition altitude. According to SERA 3110, the flight level system applies to flights above the lowest usable flight level or, if applicable, above the transition altitude. Since you have already been above the transition altitude and the altimeter has been changed to QNE, the flight level is the flight level. In the UK, the transition altitude is defined at 3,000 Ft, except for some TMAs and CTRs around major airports. In those TMAs and CTRs, the transition altitude is defined at either 5,000 or 6,000 Ft. Where which applies can be found in the list of the AIP section ENR 1.7. Smart mode off!

    When finding the 180 degree opposite of a heading, I noticed you added 2 degrees to the final value, you actually only need to +2 to first value, -2 from second value and the last value stays the same. Im sure you knew, but in the moment may have made a silly mistake :)

      Isn't that wrong? You should -2 from the first and +2 to the second.
      360 -2 1st +2 from the second = 180

      I think sometimes it's easier to just read the tail of the RMI needle.

    It will be FL024 . Thats also what the Transponder indicates when set to ALT in this case.

      Transponder indicates pressure altitude, so when he was passing 030, it would indicate 024.

      Yes it indicates pressure altitude but it depends then on the QNH setting you have. So FL24 is correct then👍🏼

      Same concern on deciphering ) as i am not very experienced pilot either :-) but this video proves we should not be afraid and that this IS POSSIBLE to decipher all these crappy calls 😂 ))

    Hi Micke, tank you for more great videos. One question when atc tell you - report 8500 ft. Could you just say wilco? And not - will report 8500 ft? How is more right?

    Your face was priceless 😄 when you stated that the plane took off without lights. I think there was to mutch rush during the start. But it's good lesson for the future. 🙂 Micke your movie perfect like always.

    Wieder sehr schönes Video! Am Ende sieht man Vereisung - könnten Sie im Video einmal auf die Anti - Ice Mögichkeiten der DA82 eingehen? - very nice video, in the end you see icing - could you explain the deicing possibilities of the DA62 in next videos? Thanks!

    FL024 when the Baro set to standart. So the controller also notice, that your Baro ist already set to standart.

    I’ve read that the DA62 is pressurized, you are using supplemental oxygen?

    Not trying to be "that guy" but I'm making this comment because I got hung up at the 7:00 minute mark with the radial math and had to listen to that section a couple times because it didn't sound right. The inverse of 157° is 337° not 339°. Didn't' need to add the 2 to the 7. 😉

    Report 3,000 then QHN - that way everyone knows the height being reported at a transition level - Great video BTW!

    Answer. . .when you're on QNH, you report feet altitude. When you're on standard, you report Flight Level

    Hi, Micke, in case if you had to make an emergency landing on the icy mountain hill (luckly some flat spot) - how much do you think you could hold alive? Do you have a survival kit? How much time would it take for a typical search and rescue mission to find you and pick you up?

      Hi Pavel,
      That's a question which I can't answer properly. I always carry extra clothes which should keep me warm and yes I have survival equipment with me. I think it depends on where you are but I can't answer how long it would take until the SAR would find you out there.

    If you are on an IFR flight plan, why would they ask you what type of services you would like? Shouldn't they be controlling you fully?

      They are asking what service is wanted outside of controlled airspace. Once you enter controlled airspace you are under radar control by ATC and they will give you headings, speed, & levels etc, but in class G airspace you can do whatever you like.

    He said 3000ft not FL030 so you should have reported passing 3000 feet / FL024.

    5:30 hm how can be 10 hPa difference be ±500 ft when 1hPa is ±30ft (synthetic value)? prev. value of QNH was 1032 and ±19hPa difference is ± 500ft difference. ;)

    Dose the 62 have similar fuel system to the single engine DA’s, where picked up from left then unused heated fuel piped through the right and back in to the left?
    Is it mirrored for right engine, so that each side Pre warms opposing engine’s tanks

      Left engine takes from the left tank and vice versa. Return flow heats the tank from where it's taken. So like a 40 with just the left tank if you want to see it like that haha

    On the Flight Plan screen at the very top where it has FOD, LDG & ENR. I am guessing LDG is obviously the time of landing and ENR is time left to either the next waypoint on the flight plan.. What is FOD ? I cannot for the life of me figure it out on a Garmin 1000Nxi manual.

    Zur Höhenfrage: Bei Steigen wird die Transition Altitude angegeben, also bei 3000 m Höhe z.B., egal welchen FL das dann mit STD ergibt, beim Sinkflug die TRL, also unabhängig welche QNH es gibt bei FL 30 z.B. - if you climb you have a TA with a certain ASL respective to the local QNH, if you descend you have a TRL with a certain FL whatever this might result in QNH height. Right?

      Der Transition Level wird nach dem aktuellen Luftdruck so festgelegt, dass er oberhalb der Transition Altitude liegt.
      Was dann noch fehlt ist der Transition Layer.
      Der Transition Layer ist der Bereich zwischen Transition Altitude und Transition Level.
      Und um es sprachlich sauber zu haben : QNH Höhen werden altitude genannt. Standard baro Höhen nennt man Flight Level.
      Das ist in der ATC Sprache super wichtig. Z. B. Beim Flug über die Alpen, wo immer mit QNH und altitude geflogen wird, um sicher zu gehen die Berge nicht zu treffen.
      Wer da mit FL 080 ankommt kriegt von einem guten Controller den "reminder" :altitude 8000 feet at QNH Innsbruck 1004. Nur so ist der Controller sicher, dass man nicht gegen die Berge knallt.

    QNH and Transition question.. (Note: I am no pilot and have no education in this topic) My logic says, you always report from last QNH and not future. so if for local QNH you are level 3000, you report and then you continue climbing from std lvl2400 to 5000 and report with std lvl5000 again. etc.. just a guess. :)
