    Nice job. You should try driving for hours in those drifting conditions. It's easy to become fixed on the blowing snow instead of the road.

    Good to see and hear from your flying adventure again! Moving seems to be a major event in everyone's life, from packing to unpacking and reorienting oneself in a place called, my home.
    It is on my travel list to visit and stay for a while in the Tyrol Region of Austria and Italy. So I am spending more time learning those dialects of German now.
    Maybe another interview with someone and you speaking in German would be helpful for those of us appreciating the variances of the German Language. Gute Reise nach Hause.

    2 questions: a) on such flights, do you turn TKS on as a cautionary measure, seeing as it's not easy to see the wings or windshield in this dark? b) currently, what route do ferries to Australia take? Pacific? Seeing as looking along the path from Austria to Australia eastbound, it seems to a number of countries along the route that you wouldn't want to land in - if you even can.

      @@dmnflights I actually show the flightplans in the beginning of the videos, did you spot them?

    • @dmnflights
      @dmnflights ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MickeLang In this one yes, there is a good clipping of the plans, but sadly it is not in every leg. Was the LOAN-ESTA something like GESG1A GESGI STO OKF VLM HDO M725 GERGA Y218 ALUKA VAVUN L996 ROE L617 NILEN NILE2G? That is what simbrief comes up with, but it could have been quite different. I'd really appreciate if you could copy-paste it from foreflight history, but it's not vital, so I can take a "no", no worries.

    Micke, I was wondering how well is this DA equipped against ice? Heated propellers as the big boys? Heated leading edge electronically? In case of icing mid flight, what would you do? Descent to warmer altitude? Or do you plan your route to avoid any ice? If it's even possible in winter times over Atlantic..thanks for your feedback! Loving your videos, you're doing fantastic.

    • @MickeLang
      @MickeLang  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi!
      Thanks for the comment!
      The DA62 is equipped with a de-ice system or the so called TKS system. TKS comes from the 3 companies which invented the system (Telcalemit-Kilfrost-Sheepbridge). They created a liquid which is out of glycol, alcohol and water and which got a freezing point of about -57°C, dependent on the proportion. This liquid then comes out on the leading edged and prevents ice from building up because of it’s low freezing point. On the propellers it works the same. There the liquid comes out from a nozzle which is located near to the propeller root and because of the centripetal force it covers the inner leading edge of the prop to prevent ice building up there. On the outer section of the propeller blade the force is too high for ice to build up.
      Important though is that you “wet your wing” before you enter possible icing conditions because if the ice is on there already, then the system won’t get it of. So you could actually call it an anti ice system and not a de-ice system. Nevertheless the DA62 is FIKI (flight into known icing) certified and I never felt unsafe when entering icing conditions when I have this system.
      Hope that was clear enough☺️
      BR Micke
