I met Pat a couple of years ago at an Exhorder show and talked to him about this song. Was telling him how its one of my favorite songs in general and thanked him for helping write it. I didn't bug him after that, just wanted to thank him personally for co-writing one of my favorite tunes and all the other sick songs he wrote. @@metalftw9652
Hands down their best composition ever. They were in a SERIOUS groove when they wrote this. If Gallery of Suicide was all this quality it would've been the greatest death metal album of all time.
Maybe you should listen to the album again, because Gallery Of Suicide is all of that quality, not just the song From Skin To Liquid. Stabbed In The Throat has some of the coolest vocal lines in Death Metal history, Gallery Of Suicide the song is great, Sentenced To Burn is killer. I could go on and on about that album, but you probably already know about it enough. There isn't a bad song in any Cannibal Corpse album in my opinion. They are all unique, even though they have the signature CC vibe, and style. What I love most about the Gallery Of Suicide album is that it has a very haunting quality with the guitar arrangements, even in the faster tempo banger type songs, not just the slower ones.
@@donavonhoward114totally agree one of my favorites. Whole album is a giant ass whoopin’. Been re-listening at work, and it’s so twisted and brutal yet so beautifully written
Groove was an accurate adjective to use for describing this performance. I don't usually find myself moving to a "Death Metal" band like I am listing to "Funk" or some other style that makes you move with a groove. Of course, this is just another reason Corpse is the best Death Metal band ever.
Please don't ever take this video down ♡ One of the best instrumental songs to have ever existed. Wish I could listen to this again for the first time!
@@Mateyhv1 Dude! Alex goes hard live. He's windmilling his hair almost as good as Corpsegrinder all while playing bass. And not sloppy either. He's plays as good live as he does on the albums. He's my all time favorite bass player hands down.
it's totally true to say that this CC classic from skin to liquid is as much a defining METAL CLASSIC as is Black Sabbaths into the void ...regarding originality of guitar sound and rythmn
I actually get a little scared when i listen to this song. Absolute masterpiece instrumental. I wish morbid angel's instrumentals were this brutal and not weird synth sounds
Me too. I think this was the first album that I heard by them that genuinely spooked me. The ones before (Barnes Era) were definitely sick&brutal but also kinda hilarious. That went away on Gallery, IMO. Pure Terror.
The entire Gallery Of Suicide album has a haunting quality to it, even in the faster songs. Cannibal Corpse is one of those bands where the music matches the tone each album cover. I always think about the Gallery Of Suicide album artwork when I listen to that album. I do the same with every other CC album as well. Their music probably matches their album cover art because the artist that creates their album art uses the actual music as inspiration for creating the album art. Some people mistake Cannibal Corpse for being run of the mill Death Metal, but when you look a bit deeper, they are actually one of the most intelligent, coolest bands of all time.
Man id turn from skin to liquid if i got to see this song live. What a killer song to hear live, plus a great album, blood drenched execution is a crushing tune, on a crushing album. Pat O brien, and Jack owen together is just unreal. man so great. That bass to what he plays under the guitars is deadly, and here live fuck it is crushingly tight. Drums are rock solid too. like fucking tight tight!! paul is the king. What that man does on the drums is inhuman!!
I remember seeing CC live in 2002 right after Gore Obsessed came out. They started the show the same way as in this video. It was pretty cool. I also love the lyrics to Savage Butchery. heh
hellhammer, trym torson, nicko mcbrain from Maiden, frost from satyricon, pete "the feet" sandoval, dave lombardo...at this level of playing they all are some of the best.
It's absolutely dark and sick. Evil through and through, cunning and hypnotizing, darkly sensual and deranged. Fuck. I have got chills when I heard it for the first time. It was some 20 years ago. I still have chills down my spine.
the performed it in der röhre too in suttgart, germany great place. i was there for symphony x and i go there really often a lot of death metal bands in there
@ElvisBluntman777 Well, being a fan of Death Metal (mostly CC and Deicide), I've come in contact with Morbid Angel, but never noted similarities or something like that. I'll listen to God of Emptiness, thanks for the input.
@darthfener2 Can't really pin point which song...but I'd say most of MA, the riffing on this song especially is very similar to Trey's...Just try to imagine Morbid Angel stuff with the tempo slowed down. You know what I'm saying. To me its like God of Emptiness.
That bass tone is crushing.
I was going to say the same but you beat me to it \m/
Bring back the Modulus Bass
slow death metal is so much more brutal, it's like Michael Myers casually walking in pursuit of his victims
So true
YES
From skin to liquid, best intstrumental song ever made
Composed by Pat O'Brien

it'd be soo damn awesome if Cannibal Corpse did an entire doom album..

Bro they'd moov in to some brutal demonic shit prolly lol

man I wish they would play from skin to liquid live more often!

One of the best instrumental songs to have ever existed.
Wish I could listen to this again for the first time!
what CC has is called "alex webster". one of the best bassists in metal
Webster and his hair is a legend

I believe you can safely take the "one of" out of your comment.
Doesn't need or use a pick because he knows what a bass guitar is. Alex is king of death metal bass
@@mattack6779 I was just thinking to myself, who is better than Alex ??
webster is crushing everything again! that bass tone is godly.
I'm so high, Webster's hair is tripping me out, lmfao
Yep, that hair has something demonic
It's 3d
How good baked?
Best metal instrumental song ever??? Probably. Masterpiece.
Dan R. Agreed. My favorite metal song period.
Sounds like a giant war ship crushing everything in sight
For sure!
tough competition though, id probably say to live is to die or orion
Dimmu Borgir: Perfection or Vanity is another one to respect.
Cannibal Corpse should make a Doom album inspired by this song
I fucking wish!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was in the very front row at this show, mind was fucking blown when they played this!
Damn this is fkn hot! I have never seen them play this live in person or a recording.
When the gas companies start turning us into fossil fuels, I'll be listening to this.
lol, underrated comment!
You should be listening now...
The evidence is in the fuel filter...
That instrumental IS perfect!!!!!!!!
This song tells a dark story with no lyrics. CC kicks ass.
That bass😍😍
it's totally true to say that this CC classic from skin to liquid is as much a defining METAL CLASSIC as is Black Sabbaths into the void ...regarding originality of guitar sound and rythmn
cannibal corpse should write more songs like this, like Festering in the Crypt, and Infinite Misery.
man i love this..metal doesnt get much better than this!
El
Absolute legends 🤟🏻
Just listen to that bass
Is so fucking badass
its a crushing ass

From Skin To Liquid is a real GIANT SONG.

I love the way Jack Owen leans to the side when playing guitar.
I LOVE this version of From Skin To Liquid, the added effects give that song so much more dynamic and Pat's solo is just fuckin killer!!!!
From skin to liquid is one of my favorite corpse songs. It's absolutely bad fucking ass!
One of CC's absolute best tracks, i never got this outta my mind its so well written!
15 years later, still slaps

George was like "hang on. concert." during the raid
this song is so underrated!!!

Best instrumental ever. Period.
nice shirt ,Alex !!!
2:29 FUUUUUCK THATS HEAVY MAN SOUNDS LIKE A FUCKING MACHINE GUN LMAO
I don't like their music to much, but from skin to liquid is the gnarliest, most heavy metal instrumetal ever made, I listen to it all the time :P \m/
Easily one of the top 3 instrumentals EVER!
alex a god of bass
They played a lot faster than album original.
yeah, this is a great fuckin' song, greetings from Peru!
SOME HORROR MUSIC RIGHT THERE
Cannibal corpse el mejor death metal de Barnnes y Fisher corpse grinder los mejores vocalistas de la banda
This music makes me visualise when monsters such as godzilla and rodan fights in the city in sydney australia
Sir, you just made my day. xD
I got a bon*r from imagining a hot woman playing a guitar and dancing provocatively to this music.
hellhammer, trym torson, nicko mcbrain from Maiden, frost from satyricon, pete "the feet" sandoval, dave lombardo...at this level of playing they all are some of the best.

aaah, i was needing the title of this song...
I've heard it the first time at the titles of the Live Cannibalism
same! thrilled to see this, one of my alltime faves.
that sogn should be the intro for all concerts
Jack always looks so disinterested lmao
this instrumental both with the istrumental of incantation in the last album ares the best.
does CC still give concerts?
Fisher and his whiplash-neck
Oh yeah but could Clapton play these riffs???
head bang while listening to this \m/
Para vos ruloooo
Ohhhh rulitoooo
For me the best Death metal drummers, had been on Death(the band), especially Gene Hoglan and Richard Christy
it's so much better with a change of about 30-40 bpm. they should always play it like this
i never noticed how fucken sick that first riff is!!
Yes of course there doing one soon
Brutal death metal 🤘😈
Corpsegrinder's neck looks like my thigh.
Amazing.
DAT bass
Excelente banda de death metal, nos visito en Venezuela no hace mucho.
also deicide's drummer is awesome; do you like hellhammer? (the drummer)
Festering in the Crypt is not an instrumental. it has lyrics
Awesome
yeah i know that, but what i meant was, instrumental or not, i think it would be kool if they wrote more slow songs like those.
AWESOME
why is it faster than he album version
frank riley - Adrenaline.
set playback speed to 0.95

anybody know where to get the drums for this in writing?
Seems like Jack doesn't really care if he's there or not in this vid, the rest of the guys look like they're enjoying themselves though.
this song has no vocals but its still one of their best
In my opinion, he's not the best but he still kicks asses for sure!!!;)
who is also responsible for putting this masterpiece together
why did they decided to speed up the tempo? I like the album version tempo better
