      good question - it's due to induction - can happen because of the wiring external to the cell or some phenomena inside the cell. @@roh4523

    It was a great introductory video! I had a few more questions to ask: 1) Is knowing the value of R the only purpose of performing EIS?
    2) What is the significance of the diameter of the semi-circle and its radius ("height")?
    3) Why do we apply just AC load to perform this experiment and not DC?
    4) Which parameter does the y-axis signify?

      1. No, 2. Magnitude of “capacitance” - I put it in quotes because it depends on the system you are studying as to what that means exactly, 3. Look at the equations.. the phase shift between incoming and outgoing AC signal is important + we are using it to look at super fast processes. 4. Imaginary impedance.

    I have two concerns.
    1)Can you explain me as of why in the y-axis, why there is a negative sign in the impedance (which is the imaginary part of the total impedance ) is plotted.
    2) What if we switch the real impedance to y axis and imaginary impedance to x-axis?

    Hi. Short and clear about a EIS. However, I would like to know if we fail to measure the impedance of the battery which is SOH, do we have any risk for safety point of view?

    Hi, im working on Silicon anodes for LIBs. I want to calculate diffusion coefficient from impedence. I just want to how to calculate lithium molar concentrstion C?? Pls explain?? Same problem with Randles sevick equation also. In both these cases i want know the concentration of Li. Iam using 1M LiPF6( EC: DEC:FEC) ELECTROLYE. thankyou

      I don’t know exactly what you’re asking. There’s lots of papers out there that describe measuring parameters like you are listing (diffusion coefficient, etc.). Look at those :)

    6:12 didn't you mean AC voltage? Since EIS is the measure of the current response of the system subjected to fixed voltage perturbation (mV) in a wide frequency range usually 100k-0.01Hz?

      Yes, AC voltage. Made that mistake, although technically there’s 2 types of EIS- GEIS and PEIS. Thanks for catching that!

      @@AcrosstheNanoverse Thanks, for your reply. On the other hand, do you know some kind of animation visual representation of how the capacitance behaves when it comes to testing coatings. Rp is easy as it is represented with the resistance of the pores, but I have had always a problem with how to imagine the Cc? Is that the charge that is stored inside the pores by a chance? For new undamaged coatings Cc is very low range 1*10-11, and with its degradation rises as more charge can be stored on its surface, Would that reflect that behaviour? Thanks, EIS lady :)

    It looks like you know a lot more about EIS than shown in the video. Do you mind sharing some more information on EIS, with some more detail? I am a Master's student working on EIS of a li-ion battery for my thesis. It would be really helpful if you could share some references specific to EIS of a li-ion battery or another video going into more detail about this process.

      Thank you for watching! I’m not sure what you’re asking specifically, but you do typically need a potentiostat for performing electrochemical techniques like EIS.     spectroscopy term is used for study of interaction of radiation with matter. So, in case of EIS,How is spectroscopy term is justified?

      Good question! Spectroscopy is often associated with measurements of the light spectrum (or electromagnetic radiation spectrum); however, there are other spectra too! For EIS the spectrum that is being referred to is the spectrum of AC signal frequencies (Hz) that is being applied to/measured from the sample

    Why charge transfer occur at only low frequency ?

      At high frequency because it is a fast process. Electron exchange is very fast compared to other processes like diffusion.

      I don't remember off the top of my head, but the study listed in the description below lists the electrolyte formulations studied. The conclusion should have the information you seek :)

    Well I have used EIS for impedance measurements of MOS capacitor on different temperatures (300 to 350K) and voltages (1 to 5V). It was a headache lol 😂

    my conclusion graduation paper (how do you call it in english?) will be about connect Impedance properties of an eletrolyte with optical properties. But I'm a chemical Engeneering student, so I haven't seen enough about eletricity in my graduation. Thanks for the video
