Just returned to Budapest after visiting Estergon and started listening to various versions of the march. Loved the city, so much history all around. My best regards to Hungarians.
Dear Everybody! thank You all for the nice comments! I would like to ask a turkish-speaking friend to write me down this lyrics please and I will attach to the description. Çok teşekkür ederim!
Osmanlı Devleti, ilk defa 1543’te o sırada Avusturyalılar’ın yönetiminde olan kaleyi fethetti. 1595 yılında Osmanlılar’ın kaleyi teslim etmek zorunda kalması türkülere konu olmuştur. 1605 yılında yeniden fethedilen kale, 1683’te kesin olarak Osmanlı yönetiminden çıkmıştır
OMG Turkish sounds alot like Hungarian when spoken with a Hungarian accent. Don't tell me that any language will sound like Hungarian when spoken with a Hungarian accent because it WON'T. Greetings from Turkey.
I agree both languages sound like each other. I would get confused for a moment if I spoke with a Hungarian because I would have the feeling that he's speaking Turkish.
Ty for posting this nice version. It is a sad "türkü" or "folk song" in Turkish. It is Estergon not Estergom though in Turkish. Greetings from Istanbul.
there is a big mistake in translation. "subaşı durak aman", subaşı literally means head of the water but specifically it means military major or head of a tribe. in this line the singer calls for his general to stop. Lets stop general, but "aman" adds a meaning that he has to stop and it sounds like he is helpless. so it actually means "general i'm begging stop!"
As a Turkish translator, I find the translation mistaken this way and I will prove it: "Subaşı" equally means "waterfront" in old Turkish, "durak" basicly means stop or station, like bus stop today, rather than "let's stop", which is a regional dialect to say so. So it is almost certain that it actually is: "Estergon castle is a waterfront station" which is consistent. Another fact that, all Turkish folk songs usually start with a starting line or two unrelated to the rest of the poem or song. It is usually about nature. For example: Kütahya'nın pınarları Akışır/Devriyeler kol kol olmuş bakışır Springs of Kütahya flow/Patrolling gendarmes assembled, looking at each other "Kayseri'den Karaman'dan Konya'dan Güzel seven mahrum kalmaz dünyadan Konyalım yürü, yürü yavrum yürü,fistanını sürü Aldattılar beni, vermediler seni" "From Kayseri, from Karaman, from Konya Those who love a beauty, will not be deprived of the fun of the world. Walk, my Konyavite darling, walk, my dear, brush the ground with your dress They deceived me and they did not let me get you" Another Ottoman folk song from Rumeli: "Beligrat Kalası, Zemlin Ovası, Atlısı geçemez, değil ki yayası" Belgrad Castle, the plain of Zemlin, Even a horse-man can't pass there, let alone a pedestrian" As you see, the first line is almost always a natural depiction, sometimes with a location, which in this case is "Estergon castle is a waterfront station" (the water is later identified in the song as Tuna river)
@@magyarharcos71 if you knew the lyrics and meaning of this song, you would not say that. It is still a popular song in turkey reflecting the soldiers feeling to estergon. "Destroy" - your prejudgement.
@@olcayozcan5910 of course they have good relationship to the fort, everyone would have if they would attack and own a castle. Ottomans killed thousands of Christian innocent people and ruled the castle for 140 years
@@magyarharcos71 why do you think ottomans killed thousands of innocent christian people? What makes you think that ottomans invaded to kill people? If they kill christians, what do you think they get in return? By only killing can an empire rule a foreign country for centuries? (I say this for whole balkans) Ottoman was an empire with many different people, cultures, religions where turks were minority. To survive and rule such an empire you must be clever, and just as well as strong. You must gain local people, need their cooperation. By just military force, destruction, killing you cannot do that. I only noticed "ı" (not i) is hard for some Hungarians, while it took me some time to get used to "gy" in Hungarian
@unpluggedbootlegged Yes we do like it mate, these songs are unforgettable for us, thanks for the upload. Btw, this anthem`s lyrics are about the defense of the castle against the siege of the Hapsburg army in 1594 AD. Most likely it`s been composed by the Janissary Mehter band at that time. @@omerfaruk6082 Yes you are right. It is used by this way. Because Estergon Castle is on the lines of Danub river.
In Turkish, the word "Sü" means soldier and "baş" means head. So it was actually "Sübaşı" in the beginning but it has evolved to "Subaşı" in time.
Sû means soldier, so subaşı does not literally mean head of the water but head of the soldiers, like an officer
a song full of emotion and love of ottoman soldiers to this castle.
Ottomans destroyed it as they could...

I think Hungarians are one of the few nations who can pronounce Turkish properly with Persians.
Persians often suck at ö, ü, j, and to some extent with ı. Most probably they weren't Persians but Iran Turks.
