I watched this two years ago before I stared to smith, it's only now after coming back to this video that I realize the level of genius at play here.

This is a dwarf level forge. Holy crap, I am in awe. I dont even want to go out to my shop and look at my little cobbled together rinky dink setup anymore. I have forge envy.

I just want to take the opportunity to sincerely thank you for being the embodiment of a true red-blood American Man. Your kind has been put to the chopping block and Americans have lost sight of what it means to be a free man with true soul. I enjoy immensely learning from your experiences and skill sets to build on my own. God bless

I was just thinking the same thing myself. His kind is being rapidly replaced by inexpensive immigrant labor. Moreover, he's my age and I can't help but wonder if he even realizes that his health insurance premiums will probably double in a few months. We're living in a far different era now, but I still enjoy watching his videos.

Matthew Jackson I would like to say that the inexpensive immigrant labor that keep these skills alive is good. That I find sad is the schools now days don’t teach shop so we have two generations of citizens who don’t know how to use machinery to make or even fix things. I try to teach my kids and his cousins and any of their friends how to do basic wood working, auto repair and just common home repairs. I hope they can continue learning.

Damn good sir NOW THAT IS A SUPER ULTRA ULTIMATE AWESOME FORGE MY FRIEND !!! What an outstanding and also hugely practical while remaining being completely functional, high efficiency, and not to mention too your swiveling design is brilliant !! Thank you so very much for sharing this video sir !!! I greatly appreciate seeing all your ingenuity, creative, and of course immensely insightful additions + features !! I'm soon building my 2nd forge shortly and this video has given me several severely critically crucial important things to think over and reconsider as to some designs that I've been considering going with and then naturally begin my build process !! Thanks so very much again !!!

Thanks for sharing this. My gas forge was built from an old Freon can and has run for many years very faithfully. However, it is nearing the end of its life. I have found that I am forging larger pieces than I ever thought I would and a forge design like this would definitely allow for those requirements. I can see that this plan is somewhat scalable since I don't require it to be quite as big as what yours is. Thanks again!

Hi, form Costa Rica. Ran into these videos and love the way you are doing them. I work and serve here as a missionary and you remind of another missionary that serves here as well, Brother Russel Turner.
I worked as a carpenter in Atlanta for enough years to learn it well but here in Costa Rica everything is metal and concert. So really wanting to get in to smiting and metal working. Not just for fun but to make a better living as I've been losing support every year from my churches. Not willing to leave the ministry I need to find ways to better support my self. Thank you for your videos.

Brother this is pure genius! Yet another paradigm shift, forges don't have to look like traditional setups, flexibility in construction allows on the fly modification to larger volume. Another setup I like is that crane location is perfectly placed to move heavy iron to your hammer.

I like it. Extending the tubes a bit higher up out of the forge for the air mix would allow the addition of fairly simple valves that would then allow it to vent the heat after being shut off without needing to disconnect the blowers on shutdown.

Love that forge. I have to watch this video every couple of months just to get a fix.
My majestic is on its last legs and I'm looking to replace it with something better -- which really wouldn't be that hard. The versatility of the EC design...
Makes me wish EC would offer a kit. Smaller, of course, way smaller. A line of forges like that, with the beautiful trusses, well, who wouldn't want that in their shop?

Hello, I was looking for a design for a clamshell forge, I knew this design from Ron Reil. Somebody has mentionned your video and I will definetly take some of your tips into consideration. I am planning a smaller, dome shaped version instead of a barrel-forge, and with 3 Smaller atmospheric burners. I wanted to say Thank you for this, I believe it is the best forge design there is for both knife making and for structural blacksmithing. It basically has no compromise for added features. Somebody told me that the area inside, being bigger, would mean a less efficient forge for small pieces such as knives, but you can always add ''filling'' refractory bricks inside, and have a very small heating area for an extreme efficiency.

  • @MegaZedlav
    @MegaZedlav 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

An E Stop would be great there is never to much safety in place. Also an automatic shutoff valve that fails in the close position just in case! Once again you are proving to be a resource in which we should all learn to appreciate. Especially in these homogenized times we live in...

Damn, thats a hell of a forge. $3 an hour to run that beast seems pretty amazing to me. I use a coal forge and I've also got a small single burner propane forge for smaller stuff. I bet I can spend more than $3 per hour in coal when I'm doing some heavy forging.
You mentioned the point where you were invested to the point where it had to work out... I'm curious what it cost you to put that together? I'm at the point where I could really use something like that as well.

Wow. Nice work on the refractory and combustion mechanism. I've seen a refractory in an industrial stream boiler, but don't know if there is wire mesh or rebar inside.

Ive heard u say you thought about making your own anvil. Id love to see a video of that process. Looks like you have the forge to do just that!
