    Thanks for the great video. I am a retired LEO and carried the P7 M13 from about 1992 until I retired in 2006. It is a great weapon and I bought one as soon as could find one afthe weapon from officers were unable to operate lop-ter retirement. For its time 13 rounds was a highcap mag. The squeeze cocker was extremely safe aspect of this. if youwere covering some one at gunpoint you could decock and cock in an instant, Each pull of the trigger is single action. it takes @ 15 lbs of pull to squeeze the cocker but only 2 or 3 to hold it cocked. the weapon is extremely safe around children and has saved officers lives when bad guys taking

    One of the greatest, most well-made guns in history. Totally under-rated.

    SIG brought back the P210, HK needs to bring back the P7 line. I would buy another one or two. Great shooter, even horrible pistol shots improve with this line.

    Hk needs to get these in production again. Or at least license them out to someone else. :/
    I love this design.

    I 'discovered' P7s a little over a year ago. Started by buying up M8s. After I had a few of those it occurred to me that I needed a couple M13s. I'm considering selling off a bunch of other pistols to fund more. Best pistol ever designed.

    My favorite handgun of all time. Sadly sold my P7M8 years ago, but made up for by purchasing the M13. His grin saying “... well I happen to have one.” says it all.

    Great review of one of the more unique guns ever. Wish I didn't have to sell mine in the 90's. One other thing. The 3 dot sights were unique at the time of production, and set the industry standard of today.

    Great review. My P7m13 is in pristine condition. In the box, papers, manual and tools. I wasn’t going to ever shot it, just loved the uniqueness of the design and history. I called HK to inquire on night sights and mags. The service rep asked, How do you like the way it shots and the accuracy!!! I said I haven’t shot it and had know intentions too. He laughed and replied, Brother thats sinful and kin to having a fine sports car and never driving it. You cant hurt it and its good for 80,000 rounds NO PROBLEM. Will to my delight IT IS ALL THAT!!! Only 300 rounds through it and it is a pleasure to shot. And boy can you fire it quickly.

    Normally, I don't enjoy reviews on "unusual" guns. I think that's because I'm more a "utilitarian" (ie "how is this useful?") rather than a lover of all guns ("look, you shoot this w/your toes in a sitting position"). But, I did enjoy this. It had alot of useful/interesting features. Thanks for the review.

  • @itsPossumTime

    Excellent review! You hit all the technical points that make the P7 pistols so interesting and so fabulous. I credit my P7 (PSP) with getting my wife over any fear she had of calibers larger than .22. It's the smoothest, and softest shooting pistol I own - including the massive chunk of steel known as my S&W 5906. One of the best guns ever made!

  • @Mrgunsngear
    @Mrgunsngear  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Upula will work wonders on the mags but the slide can be rough if you're not hitting the cocker.

  • @stevematz7354
    @stevematz7354 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The P7 was like what a Colt Python in price to other Wheel Guns as it was to 9MM SA Pistols. All your Superior 9mm's (i.e. Sig Sauer, Beretta, CZ, SA still use the familiar John Browning Tilt Barrel Lockup System. Because you have to use a loose fitting barrel bushing because of heat issues; your not going to have the accuracy that the P7 has with it's fixed Barrel. Lots of People in the Midwest had never heard about them or knew nothing about them. When I was working at a Firearms Store in the 80's about the only place I heard where the P7 was used in LE, was the East Coast. Places like New Jersey seem to have more LE Agencies using them. Like the Narrator said, they have never been an inexpensive Firearm to Buy. Police Agencies working on strict budgets may have wanted them for their Dept. but had to settle for another Mfger in what they could spend. The only drawback may be the Clip Capacity. Although 13rds should be more than sufficient, Now days since the advent of the Glock 17; customers want a 15to 17 rd firearm. I say if you can't accomplish in 13 rds from the accuracy of this Firearm then you probably shouldn't be carrying a FA to begin with.....Good Video !

    I have an old "west germany" labelled p7m8. I really hope HK takes this gun, figures out a way to lighten the package, and start making an updated version.

  • @Mrgunsngear

  • @Mrgunsngear

    It is a problem for all versions; I should have mentioned that. It's due to the gas system. It also prevents HK from offering it in a polymer framed version.

    This is a sweet pistol to shoot. I had a master marksmen shoot it the first time since he never shot one. The first shot scared him since the whole cycle time was so fast and the sights came back to it's original position quickly. After that it was one hole for the rest of the 12 shots at 25 yards. I was impressed with this marksmanship and he was impressed with the pistol.

    My favorite pistol. Two things Mr. GNG didn’t mention: (1) it gets very hot after relatively few rounds; and (2) it had a loaded chamber indicator way back when those were rarities. All in all a great gun, especially to carry because of size, capacity and if it got taken away by the bad guy, there's an excellent chance he wouldn’t know how to cock it so you’d have a fighting chance to take it back or at least run. But the P7M13 is worth about $5k now so…run?

  • @Mrgunsngear

Great review video! I have been slowly watching your videos little by little and have yet to watch this one!

  • @ratscoot
    @ratscoot 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The only negative thing about is that is has a stiff recoil spring due to the delayed blowback operation. The magazines also have strong springs so after a couple hours of IPSC training i have sore fingers from loading mags and racking the slide.

    I always liked these pistols but never bought one. In the back of my mind I was always concerned I would fail to squeeze clock it at the right time. These were tested by Marine Recon back in the late 80s, but they didn't care for them for cqb over the 1911s due to the constant pressure needed. I would still love to have one.

  • @darina4919
    @darina4919 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have had all versions of this gun including the K3 and M10 as far as the heat concern the worst for heat was the first model the PSP they changed that when the M8,M10and M13 were built by making the trigger guard larger it accomplished two things. first it was easier to use with gloves on and also let HK put a heat shield under the area where the gas would heat up the gun. don't get me wrong my M8 will still heat up but not as quick as the PSP. I still have 2 M8's and a PSP I sold my M13 because it was harder to conceal. these guns are like a work of art or a fine watch when you take the grip off they are truly impressive as far as the workmanship and design. and as far as ammo goes every one I have ever shot would shoot the best with 124gr. and for target ammo just plain old S&B would do the trick.

  • @gunrobot
    @gunrobot 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The gas is used to delay the slide from coming back until the round has left the barrel making the gun really accurate. Another negative is how quickly the gun heats up after firing 20-30 rounds.
