  • The HK P7 was a blowback-operated semi-automatic pistol designed and manufactured by German gun manufacturer Heckler & Koch (H&K) from 1978 to 2008, chambered in 9mm (9×19mm Parabellum).
It featured a unique gas-delayed blowback system, which used gas pressures from the ignited cartridge and fed them through a small port in the barrel (in front of the chamber) to retard the rearward motion of the slide. This was accomplished by a piston contained inside a cylinder under the barrel.
The grip featured a built-in cocking lever located at the front of the grip. Squeezing the cocking lever cocked the firing pin. If the lever was released, the weapon was de-cocked.

In meinen Augen, die beste jemals konstruierte Polizeipistole.

I have wanted one of these since I was a kid. The coolest looking pistol back in the early 80's for me. Wonderful animation as usual!

@@risitasgg3465 it is not a game. I'm not sure what you mean. This is an animation of the engineering and functioning of a mechanical machine.

What a great video. Thank you for sharing! I can tell you first hand how great the functionality of this pistol is, I have a II date code. Very accurate for the short length of the barrel. That extracted cartridge goes quite a distance. Always get others shooters coming over to ask questions about it

Awesome rig and model! is there a chance you can show how the topology for the backend of the slide looks like?
i'm practicing 3d modeling and i would love to get some examples from professionals on how they manage the topology. Cheers :)

What a beautiful piece of German engineering! The example you have shown was fired at the Ulm Proof House in 1987 ... you can tell by the stag antler symbol next to the year code IH … many thanks for your very interesting video

Thank you very much for such an excellent video, graphics at a very high professional level. I would like to know how long it took you to rise to that level?

I still have no idea how the piston works. Shouldn't it be pushed forward instead of backwards by the gas?

    • @AE_Giant

Forgotten weapons has a really good video on this but yes you're completely correct. The Piston does not push the action open that still done by The Recoil, what it does is make it where it can't we open until the gas pressure is lower when the bullet leaves the barrel, hence why it's called a delayed gas blowback.

Unfortunately, it kills the cartridge case through the relief grooves in the chamber, not good for reloaders.

I think it would be too expensive for today’s marketplace. Everybody wants HK quality for Taurus prices.
