    Are you kidding me? I've always thought Dave Mustaine has a sort of Jazz Thrash style, but this is frickin' ridiculous how good it is. How did you even come up with the concept, let alone instrumentation?

    • @metaphump3846
      @metaphump3846  8 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      Oh thanks !! :)
      Well... I came up with this concept because I used to be a real metalhead before I set to practise Jazz and Funk. I wanted to set up this project with musicians that have nothing to do with metal ; and I wanted to make covers that have almost nothing to do with the originals.
      LP.

      Ravens Creek Studio Many Megadeth songs lend themselves to open interpretation naturally. Wether it be Mustaine learning some skills from Poland and Friedman or vice/versa ....Megadeth in my opinion has had the jazziest, funkiest sound structure of any metal band. Listen past the volume and distorted guitars and you will find many beautiful compositions in their catalogue.

    • @sethpeters7362
      @sethpeters7362 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      It makes sense too, considering that Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson were jazz fusion musicians before joining Megadeth. They undoubtedly had an influence on Mustaine.

      @Not_what_it_used_to_be 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Jazz is defined by the composition of the music and musical structure, not the vocal style. Everything about this is undeniably jazzy. If it was a guy doing death metal growls over the Giant Steps progression, it would STILL be jazz.

    • @brogoram
      @brogoram 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Off couse u can do that...but if wanna show 'a jazz way of certain music' (in this case, metal..), why dont sing in a true jazz style to show how the two genres crossing? Instead of ruining the transition of the two genre with a third genre vocal style..

    • @Not_what_it_used_to_be
      @Not_what_it_used_to_be 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The point of this isn't to translate a piece of music from one genre to another using tropes and standard practices within that genre. It's to create a unique and interesting piece of music with direct inspiration from another. It's within their creative license as artists to do whatever they want with their music, and that's what they've done. They're not "ruining" anything, they're only creating something new.

Don't listen to the narrow-minded comments about the "rapping"... clearly the vocalist is also very talented and versatile and the vocal choices fit perfectly the vibe you are creating for these songs. • @mejsjalv
    @mejsjalv 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Most guitarists and drummers in Megadeth played this kind of music at some point. Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson were already very good fusion players before Megadeth even formed. Kiko Loureiro does have some brazilian jazz/fusion solo records of his own. Pretty sure Al Pitrelli can play just about anything. Nick Menza had some jazz chops of his own. Even Vinnie Colaiuta ended up playing with Megadeth.
    Great cover and arrangement by the way. The half-rapping and half-singing work alright. It's a good equivalent of the half talking-half singing Dave Mustaine does.

    Overall awesome! I do think the rapper approach just not fit with the music. His voice was fine. But to hear Tornado end with a “check it out” and “a’ight” is just.... just, no. I’m all for jazz metal. Go listen to some Cynic, or Atheist. Brilliant. I’ve always wanted to hear South of Heaven done in a certain jazzy way. I just discovered this, so I’m eager to hear more. But if it’s rapper vocals, not so much.

      Erik Gruber when the title says jazz groove arrangement, people expect a jazz song. You get it and then the unnecessary addition of vocals slightly annoys you, then you find out that the vocals are fucking rapping. Thats just fucking retarded. Let us hear the fucking music. Heavy metal fans listen to heavy metal for the complexity of the music and to see it transposed into arguably the most complex genre is an impressive thing if done right. So what the fuck does that talentless hack think hes doing
