- The Dallas Mavericks hosted the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday night. The Mavericks lost the game by three after not being able to connect on a game tying shot while time expired. Mavs star Luka Dončić finished the game with 28 points. However, it was his comments about his conditioning level prior to the game that has everyone talking. Dončić said he needs to get his conditioning levels quote: 'back on track' following a busy off-season. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe weigh in on Luka's slow start to the NBA season.

Has anyone ever thought that Jason Kidd and his approach are to blame for Luka’s condition. Do you really believe that someone can carry their entire team for four seasons on their own, and you don’t bring him any help. If you had at least a little brain, we would come to the conclusion that something very serious is happening to Luka, something that puts him in a depressed state, something that takes away his will and wastes his talent. On top of all that, a great injustice happened to him, which is the fruit of your jealousy and fear that he will overthrow all your myths and stereotypes, so it would not surprise me that someone will earn a huge fortune if Luka just fails.

It astounds me how even simply doing cardio comes off as a mountain to climb for some of these stars when they play 40+ minutes a night. I’m not saying run a marathon but it’s not hard to keep up with things.
Not to defend Luka or any but we can only assume why he is not able to lose wheight.... we dont really know his metabloism which can be alternated by stress, fatigue and sleep deprivation... At this stage I just hope he is just lazy and not worn out to a point where he has some kind of serious mental overload.

There’s been many games, I’ll say this to Luka’s credit first, where our guys just keep missing open 3pt shots, very open shots… idk what the guys do in practice but they obviously know when and where Luka’ll set them up to get the best shots they can, but they simply don’t make them during games which really sucks. Now, onto Luka, he has his issues, probably due to his conditioning where when he doesn’t have the ball, it’s a Ben Simmons effect where the offense is stalled since he doesn’t move without the ball much at all. 4-on-5 for the guys on offense, and he continues to jaw out the refs. Luka also has a habit of stalling out possessions hero-ball style where it ends in a long step-back 3 that doesn’t go in and the defense concedes points right after. The main minuses to his game right there in a nutshell he has to improve on to elevate the TEAM PLAY of the Mavs. More important than ever to play and win as a team first and foremost.
@@vidalrodriguez2001 you can say that about a lot of players and a lot of teams, organization need to start recording their practices and leaking it to the public because I don’t understand how these so called “athletes” can get payed all this money and not work on their jump shots let alone their health.
@@jblack530 I’m not one to really go after players too much, but it’s just something that you observe as a fan of a team, me myself being a Mavs fan, they’re clearly aware of when they’re open have good looks all the time from what Lula dishes out, a competent roster with good shooting would have Luka averaging 10+ assists easy. Not to say assists are everything but at the very least it means a player got the ball to a guy and made a basket. If the Mavs players made shots at 36-38% as a team from 3, so many points are added on the board, they need to be better.

Almost every star player has seen their point totals drop. Luka's still averaging 25.5 8.5 Ast and 8 reb. His impact hasn't been there as much and sure he has stuff to work on and should be in better shape but we're talking as if he's completely fell off a cliff.

His drop off is because he's not new to the league any more. Opponents have had time to adapt to his style and can prepare better. Plus the rule changes that were introduced. There are many factors in this equation, not just being or not being in shape.

It’s a shame what luka is doing. He’s my fave player now but unfortunately he is coasting in what he did his first seasons. He has potential to average 30+ 8+ 8+ while being efficient. He got eliminated in the first round of the bubble which means he had a 4 month long off season. That’s about the same length of an off season that an NBA finalist deals with in a regular season. The way LeBron is glorified and everyone else is torn down is one aspect of watching these shows that is almost as annoying as constantly having to hear about the Lakers every single show. This has been a fantastic season to watch so far and so many players are doing great things, can we focus on them a bit more please!!!

To be fair he also played in the Olympics so his offseason of not working on his game isn’t that long. They said 3 weeks. That’s not too crazy
It all depends on how bad he was eating for those 3 weeks. These are big dudes I’m sure they can eat a ton, he needs to be eating veggies and lean protein tho lol

Luka has empty calorie stats. It's the same thing they say about Russ. You put up alot of numbers and get bounced in the first. The problem isn't that he's a bad player, it's the fact that you can't tell a player that everyone says is perfect anything to work on. People called him the MVP before the season started last year and they looked stupid at the end of the year. He didn't get a vote. He's a great but there's room for improvement and I'm sure Carlisle just didn't want to deal with the ego and the "Luka needs help" narrative. I'm sure Carlisle was like "Luka needs to improve"
