I can't tell you how much I love your passion for taking care of these misunderstood creatures. I wish I could someday care for possums that aren't compatible for release and give them good lives. I'm not sure what the qualifications for that specifically are, I only looked into it a little. I used to see possums frequently in my area (West Seattle), but ever since a few coyotes suddenly migrated into the area, they seem to have disappeared. :( I bet I know why...
The Oregon law considers them a "Invasive Species" and will euthanize them . That is ridiculous. You can apply for a permit in Oregon and then it is approved on a case by case basis but most won't take that chance. Because it's one person. Then once you apply you risk it being euthanized for NO reason. There are a lot of what we call "Possum Whisperer's here.
Thank you again for another great video , this one is extra special by including your vet. visit . I wish we all could have a vet like this that knows about and will see a opossum . It looks like Pear is in very good care !
I hate that I'm only just now discovering this channel. I love everything about this woman and her opossums. I'm a vet tech that only does cats and dogs currently, but i love seeing how similarly and differently other types of animals are cared for!
i think you are wonderful in what you are doing for possums and other wildlife. i wish i was able to do as much as you do in the name of animals. if you wonder how georgette does it, think of all the money it takes to go to the vet, etc. buy her merch and get on patreon to support her and her efforts to save and rehab wildlife.
This is 2 year old girl, Mumu's issue. Her wrists began to turn inward as she got older. She can't feed herself with her paws/hands. I feed her myself. However, she also has a missing leg byt she can move just as fast as an opossum with all 4 feet.
What was this little guy's formative problem that required the vet's attention? Great to see the care and attention for him. Possums that I've had as visitors were only caged for short periods at the beginning then allowed access to the whole house as they became regular users of a litter box.
Metabolic bone disease. Bearded dragons can get it too. It's from an incorrect ratio of protein & calcium & is VERY painful & disfiguring if not caught early.
I dont like the way the vet is interested in the possum, a little too excited about the possums looks lol..... Like that neighbor that always wants to watch your kids but you know better bc hes a 60 yrs old man.
You are such a good mama, Georgette. Pear is a sweetie. Thank you for letting us tag along to the doctor's.

cars kill at least as many possums as coyotes. coyotes and possums still both live in north seattle.
What a wonderful man! I love Vets that really enjoy what they do. Such a cute Pear!
that possum looks like it has seen things that it can never forget
Love the swimming, it was adorable! There should be a whole episode for Proper Opossum Swimming Technique or maybe Proper Opossum Yoga.
Dr. was unaware of the term "randy"

They also say ferret food is good for their bones and has all the vitamins.

That's it! I'm subscribing; these videos are awesome.
Pear is so cute...Love it!
And all this time I thought MBD was for reptiles
She needs to write a book
Also the best milk is puppy milk in the begining.
As they get older mixing puppy formula with equal parts mixed vegetables and catfood in blender is good. I give mine marsupial dry food too.
