Hey Luke 😀 Thank you for visiting Singapore! 🇸🇬 You showed me Smith Marine Floating Restaurant which local like me was unaware of!? 🙌 Glad you enjoyed the local makan (Malay word for eat) Please return soon! 🇸🇬🤗
I remember Luke from when he was a baby travel vlogger all those years ago when he visited Singapore. Now he’s a grizzled veteran. 😂 And he knows his stuff too (to be fair he knew and did his homework even then, when he was just starting out)-he ably identified the steamed fish as “Cantonese style” which is not a level of knowledge you get from most food vloggers! And that link to chee cheong fun sauce is something I’ve made myself. Not exactly the same but quite similar! It really brings out the natural sweetness of the fish. Dude knows his food man. “I prefer the fish curry” 😂 - that’s (I think) the Singaporean consensus too. The fish curry’s slight tanginess and lightness cuts through the prata’s butteriness so we generally prefer it to the heavy mutton curry.
Welcome back to Singapore 🇸🇬 27:00 They smash the Prata so that it remains crispy without becoming harden while you’re eating it. Thee gravy variety-from fish curry or dahl curry or mixed meat curry, etc.
The dessert you had was made with “Chinese almonds” which are actually apricot kernels, that’s why it tastes different from the common almonds. Chinese almonds consist of 2 types which are named as northern (bitter) and southern (sweet) almonds. Popular as a food medicine for treatment of cough. Hope you had a wonderful time here!
Not only the first tourist video I've come across that went to a kelong restaurant, but also the first who actually showed the cooking process of the chilli crab. Amazing stuff.
I hope that you ordered premium char siew with your wantan noodles. Their premium char siew is made from the arm pits of the pig, which you'll get intermittent layers of chewy fats with lean meats.. the texture of the premium char siew is out of this world!! I sincerely hope you had tried that and not the regular char siew.
That’s interesting.. Roast Paradise also has a premium cut version which is unique and very good balance of lean meat to fat ratio .. maybe it’s from the arm pits too
@meat_loves_wasabi go try this outlet at Tiong Bahru hawker and you'll know what I mean. There are limited supply of this cut everyday and sometimes, it's sold out by 12.30pm, so be early.
that’s kelong you went , not a floating boat. A traditional floating fish farm to be exact. They used to provide karaoke and over night accommodation as well.
I would have enjoyed all those dishes! Go to little India. You can order idli sambar Of course MASALA DOSA Or you can order Thali in a banana leaf they refill rice sambar pickle you both will enjoy the food at little India When we were there we tried the pepper crabs at a restaurant by the beach don’t know the name of it want to visit again FROM USA 🇺🇸 PARK RIDGE IL I LOVE SINGAPORE BUT VERY EXPENSIVE & very hot && humid rains all the time as well
the fish curry is a default firm favorite of most locals, so what u had was the default set prata, ur guide is my neighbour haha, hardly will u find fish curry in Malaysia with prata, u didn't try the Malay and indian foods enough tho, there's so much more to Singapore than Chinese stuff
Surprised a tourist will know about kelong... The muscles look like there's alot guts/sand tho... Nani?? 400??!! No wonder nobody goes there anymore. Same amt could have a kukop trip in msia with seafood meals too.
Extremely Racist country Singapore. Trump should put 1,000% Tariff on Chinese and South East Asian food coming to Western countries because our food fail to sell in South East Asia and in West the don’t eat burgers, curries, African and Caribbean food. How much noodles can a west eat which they do.
dude you are so right... a great steamed fish is hard to beat
One thing I’ve noticed, your pronunciation of local food/places is spot-on ….. tau suan, you tiao, char siew, wanton, Tiong Bahru, etc.
I’ve been practicing 😅 thank you!
Yes
Luke, you're the 0nly 0ne (Tourist) visited the floating restaurant here, hearty, organic, rare, rustic and unique. Wow! Thanks ❣
Welcome back to Singapore again Luke and it is always a pleasure to see your video :)

Wow! You explored a floating restaurant that even locals do not know. Really interesting! ❤🎉
That chwee kway packaging got upgraded, in the past its served in paper and 2 sticks for you eat.
The dessert you had was made with “Chinese almonds” which are actually apricot kernels, that’s why it tastes different from the common almonds. They were sold out 😭
@LukeMartin such a pity 😢

He did say Kelong.

Singapore's food scene is so diverse! I'll definitely try more Malay and Indian food next time.
U shocked me with the 100% accurate pronunciation of Chee Chong Fun 😳
Did you finish all those dishes?
"Cleanly"
It seems you picked up some Singlish 😀
OMG!! The seafood was too ex! Don think is worth it. 😅 Anyway welcome back Luke 🙂
It’s definitely a splurge but a delicious one 😂
Chilli crab is not street food. It’s expensive restaurant food.😊👍
Wow are you still in Singapore Luke ?
usually the prata's curry will choose fish curry😊
No prices shown for the various menu items? 😮
Mink was almost in the drink!
Poor Mink, glad she is ok!
13:04 As Indonesian, i'm happy and sad at the same time
What has that got to do with Indonesia?
Surprised a tourist will know about kelong...
The muscles look like there's alot guts/sand tho...
Nani?? 400??!! No wonder nobody goes there anymore. Same amt could have a kukop trip in msia with seafood meals too.
😋👍
My good friend restaurant
.ok
ya SG's seafood is always expensive esp d crab
Tau suan is mung bean
Hope your ok Mink after that little mishap through the floor. Be careful!
Luke, i think you can sue that establishment for that rotten boardwalk that claimed Ming's leg.
That's not necessary
Mink you shouldn't be falling for other men whilst the poor man is working 😂
it's yellow beans not green bean
Its split green beans. The skin is removed, that why it looks yellow.
😂😂😂😂
that's only 12 n change in us money
Floating restaurant should not be a thing, think about inefficiency of transportation and potential contamination to the environment.
😦 I still can’t believe there are people like you who can be so nonsensical 😂😂
@kaiyin3842 oh the irony is so strong on this one..
Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Totally the right platform and content
Free yourself,not Palestine
Free your mind from Islamic 🇵🇸propaganda and lies
What a fake he is
What an attention seeker u are
I don't like you, your videos and the way you speak and that's my friend, is not a fact.
lol what drugs are you on?

What the fuck are you on about😂
$400+ for 5 dishes and no liquor? What a rip-off!!! (50% likely went to the guide)
