Malaysia and Indonesia have so many similar foods. Also very common in Dutch food (Indonesia being a former colony). Sorry about my ancestors, very happy with the food influences, it's delicious!

As an esteemed connoisseur of international cuisine, via the uber eats app in my city... Malaysian is my absolute favourite. Ayam Goreng, aka Malaysian fried chicken, is the single best fried chicken on earth. Combine with curry sauce and sambal, on rice or roti? Just the best bite you can have anywhere.
yo im so glad you came to malaysia man, even though i dont live there anymore, nor do i plan to go back, im glad you got to taste the food i grew up eating

JO FRIES, I was thinking of the jo seasoning I use to steam blue crabs with. Crab fries (french fries with crab seasoning) are great. Here in Pennsylvania, Chickie's & pete's is famous for their crab fries.
I think I might like the garlic fried shrimp with that kimchi fried rice. Unagi is sooooooo good though. I have a western palette and we really only have one kind of spicy. I'd like to try different kinds of spicy though.

Hope you had a great trip and enjoyed KL, Guga! 10:49 Well, it’s eye-wateringly expensive to have a business premises in Pavilion, being a highly prestigious location in KL. 1-Utama would have been a better long term sustainable choice. Been there just after new year. Good experience. Nice store 👌 Ordered chilli crab 🦀 pasta was really good. The fried rice was below average expected more definitely not the best fried rice i ate. I have eaten better fried rice back home in South Africa 🇿🇦
It depends dear, as we Malaysian didnt measure our ingredients, ex. For me i like my food a little bit sour, so my cooking would be sour on mostly everything, and some of my friends like it sweet, so when i go to his place, I'm not too keen on their cooked meals. So.. that is why in Malaysia we have 1 type of meal that some of it represents our race... Like fried rice.. we have 'cina fried rice', 'kampung fried rice', 'mamak fried rice', 'salted fish fried rice', But for all I've been observing, yall go to touristy places like jalan alur, bukit bintang, petaling street.. where they tend to make everything milder than what we local eats, including uncle roger restorant. And many locals complain that his fried rice is not good enough for our taste.
4:28 you should've told uncle roger we have those in brazil, they are called pastel(not in the french way), they are delicious and those would be categorized as "pastel de camarão"
i think it's more of a respect thing. If you go to someone else's country and eat a version of their food you don't want a "we already have this where i'm from". It comes off as "my country's food is better than yours" and because they might not be the same. It's more of a this is their thing, their dish from their country, while in their country. You can make that comparison in your head but to say it out loud is a different thing,
@@AjitAdonisManilal I don't think this is true, not at least in the my mentality, we usually have versions of everything, and while some may joke with that, I feel more like an curiosity rather than disrespect, I feel that cultures once they get accustomed to something, they usually do an version of that thing with local touch(examples are usually chinese or italian dishes, who usually have local versions of their foods around the wolrd, like the west in relation to italy and the rest of asia in relation to china, even if the original owners get mad with some igredients who are alien to the original culture, it happens)
Uncle Roger is wrong about his ma la popcorn chicken dish. I love eating those dried sichuan peppers, especially if they're fried enough. They're crispy and delicious with just a little heat.
