I used to play with CV record all the time. Recently I almost sold my pair and had to back out after watching these demos. I've forgotten how amazing this module is and how much I've under utilized it.
:) yes it's so unique and cool to use. By the way, now the firmware is open source I think (not the hardware) so some users are customizing/adding features but I think they just started. I didn't look into firmware mods yet.
Thank you so very much! I’m getting my ER-101 in a month. I’ve been searching for a tutorial like this for so long! You don’t know how much I appreciate this and I’m sure a lot of users do! 🌀
Excellent intro to the 101/102. To access the S (Set) maths parameter, you need to first set G (Multiply) to 0. Then S appears as an option. If you want to revert a maths operation, pressing Invert on the 102 inverts ALL of the math settings.
Excellent, yes, thanks, as I was talking about the 101 I forgot to mention inverting Math from the 102 Invert button. If anyone is reading this, keep in mind you can only Invert 'Add' and 'Multiply' Math Transforms. Also, you can quickly apply an Inversion of your current Math Tranforms (Add and Multiply) without entering Math screen. For example, select the step or Pattern you want to modify and press Invert+Math and Release Math... quick Invert-Transform applied. In terms of Set or Assign, the way I do it is I Set G(multiply) to ZERO and set A to the Value I want. I will need to update the Firmware just to make sure I get everything right in the next videos. Thanks Mark!
Nice work! This video convinced me the ER-101/2 and my brain are non-compatible! I'm not being sarcastic or derisive. Your excellent demonstration and description of functions of this amazing module made it clear that the interface is not for me.
Thank you for watching :) The purpose of my videos is indeed to create unbiased reviews or demos that are true and through. My opinion is only there because we all have opinions, positive or negative, but I do try to get into details so if you invest time in watching my videos you will have an honest and well-informed idea about... is this module going to work for me or not? These are NOT sponsored videos where I MUST say 'it's great, buy it because I am getting paid to tell you so... ' It's my channel, my videos I speak my mind. I am no salesman :) If this video helped you and saved you from the trouble of buying the wrong module... Then I am happy, the video was useful! The same if it had been the other way around and it would have helped you decide this module was for you. Most modules are expensive (which is unrelated to the actual value for money on offer, I am just talking about the price of modules as an absolute monetary number). So the last thing I would want to do is be responsible for people spending money on the wrong items. Just facts, I am not trying to sell anything, and I really appreciate your comment. Thanks!
Exact opposite for me! I had been skeptical but this video convinced me that my brain and the ER-101/2 ARE compatible! Many thanks to SonicVoltage for these excellent (and much needed) videos on these somewhat obscure but very powerful modules.
as an owner of the er101/102, i thank you for these videos. it’s a wonderful sequencer, but it does take a little time to master. arguably the most powerful.
Actually, I do have a question because you nor the manual cover HOW to use the voltage scales. Yeah you can sort of browse scales in the upper screen, but how to APPLY them on a track ? No matter what I do or choose, the scale only remain for 12 semitones, very frustrating. How do you use that feature ?
Hi, set the TABLE switch (A-ref-B) to ref and browse to the scale/table you want. Press COPY (it will copy that table to clipboard)... then set TABLE switch to A or B and press INSERT (press Insert 1 or 2 times can't remember I am not close to the 101 right now)... and your chosen table is copied on A or B... then press COPY to exit the copy/paste function.
This was super insightful, now I just need to find the money to get one (hopefully Brian will make 102's soon as well) and the patience to wait 2-3 months for delivery...
Yes it has been like a secret device for too long :) Probably because not readily available from local shops... it was time for some video about it :) Thank you!
Nice review. Unfortunately it does not seem to cover bi-polar CV values… But from a melodic sequencer standpoint it looks great but cumbersome when using all the 4 tracks due. Possible improvements: 1. One CV and one MOD (with either scale, bipolar lfo options) per track 2. ER-102 could have at least benefit from a proper LCD screen with global overview and high level sequencing of the parts/patterns
Great video! I think it would be nice to control the voyager old school with this, it seems like the OS has a slightly below 1V/oct-"standard" so this would be a great way to get it perfectly in tune, all while sequencing 3 other voices in the eurorack :)
Yes, I didn't try this yet, I do not have the old school but I do have the minimoog voyager select series and I think there are difference in the v/oct standard, will try at one point :)
Thank you. I have just uploaded Part 4 which concludes the overall review look at all the features. With time, now and then, I can look into adding some add-on videos of specific uses not covered by the 4 main videos but I won't be able to say when right now :) Thanks for watching!
Very informative and at the same time funny video! Thanks. Btw. Are you by any chance related to Slavoj Žižek? Your accent and hand movements reminder me of him ;¬)
Hi, Thank you. About manipulating tracks' clock (Multiplier/Divider values), as far as I know, you cannot do that. Groups Modifiers currently only allow you to modify Math types of parameters.

You are welcome! Cool, I am sure you will enjoy the device. Thank you for your comment!
super video ! i didn't think i would end up watchin 1/3 already with not even having the er101 :)
:) Thank you! :)

I think your videos are the most honest reviews or demos out there. Love your channel!
Thank you, I appreciate your comment.

yes it's working ! Thank you, you might want to mentionned this trick in the next video as a PS :)
Good idea, sorry I missed it in this video, will do :)
useful video ! I've learn one or two things I did not know ! Looking forward for the 102 video as i think it's the hardest to undertsand :)
Cool. Glad to see the video is useful! Thanks
This was super insightful, now I just need to find the money to get one (hopefully Brian will make 102's soon as well) and the patience to wait 2-3 months for delivery...
WHOA!!!! This is super wonderfully incredible megafantastic delightful and amazing. Thanks you for such a comprehensive ER-101/102 series!!!
Thank you for your super kind words!
Damn, I learned like 10x more than I knew about my ER units watching this. You're awesome!
Thanks! :) Happy to hear you find this video useful. It does happen, I am sure I have modules I am under-using.
Thanks for a great overview of this sequencer. It's been a mystery to me until now. Excited to get my hands on one.
Yes it has been like a secret device for too long :) Probably because not readily available from local shops... it was time for some video about it :) Thank you!
Awesome explanations and your voice is very relaxing!
Brilliant! Lovely video showing the power of the ER101/102s
Thank you! I have just subscribed to your channel and started watching and enjoying your ER-101 ER-102 based performances. Others should do too :)
Great review by Slavoj Žižek here
Thanks (do you mean your name is Slavoj Zizek? I guess).
Thank you! Very well done!! (The time machine gag is priceless.)
It had to be done :) Thank you for watching :)
Excellent explainer, thanks for doing these videos.
Nice! Thank you so much for going through this module is such detail. This makes so much more sense.
Great! Nice to hear it was useful. Thank you. Yes, after spending some time with it, users should find the ER-101/102 setup very rewarding. 👍
Thanks for this! Really digging your channel!
Thank you for checking this out and for the comment, Cheers!
Not at all! I will probably binge watch all the others too!

As one of the first powerful sequencers from a bunch of years back it was probably ahead of its time. It has its own charisma :)
Finally .... a good tutorial. Thank you
Thank you!
Thank you, very informative video ! Looking forward to getting one :)
Thank you for your comment, appreciated.

hi, thank you for your comment, no I do not know the person you mention.
subscribed! well done!
Thank you!
Any similar module on the VCV or digital world?
I Just got the Er-102 to expand.
Is there a way to recall my saved patterns from the 101 ? thanks
If Marvin the Martian gave modular tutorials.
th-cam.com/video/NT5zcmLeRLo/w-d-xo.html Me trying to use the ER-101/102 in a different context ...LOL :)
Hello, is it possible to manipulate tracks clock using Groups of ER102? Very nice video, looking forward for part 2, 3, 4 and 5 ;))) +sub.
Hi, Thank you. About manipulating tracks' clock (Multiplier/Divider values), as far as I know, you cannot do that. Groups Modifiers currently only allow you to modify Math types of parameters.

Great, but you must be engineer to use this seq!!...if there was not Sonicvoltage.
Slavoj zizek about er 101 … 😂👀
The going back in time bit made me want to turn it off
