You pronounced Emppu just fine. The u is pronounced as ou in you, so you were spot on. Tuomas is pronounced like Tou-oh-mas. And Kai is pronounced like Kye. The ai is the ye in bye. Hopefully this makes sense.

Floor song, Anette song, Tarja song, Floor takes them all in her stride to perfection. I’m certain you have a beautiful smile any day of the week, but Floor certainly seems to put your happiness quotient into overdrive. My own happiness quotient (and wife and daughter) will be in overdrive on Tuesday, 22nd when we see Nightwish and the Valkyrie goddess in Birmingham.
Oh, yes. Emppu is a great guitarist. Interesting fact, before playing the guitar, he practiced judo and wanted to devote his life to sport. He even seems to have a black belt in judo. But fate ordered otherwise. And became fond of music. By the way, Emppu is a nickname. His full name is Erno Matti Juhani Vuorinen. Emmpu comes from - imp - a small mischievous demon from fantasy) Small - because Emmpu's height is only 160 cm) My favorite of his solos in HIGH HOPES of Pink Floyd cover. He is amazing in this song!

What? I seriously doubt that because Emppu is one of the most common and oldest nicknames in Finland, it's boy/girl nickname and nowadays it has also been given as an official first name for boys and girls. I have never heard your fantasy&height explanation.

@@Selvetarm77 I think it's more like wordplay kinda thing, which is typical for Finns. It's really old nickname and very common, i'm guessing started in 1950s or maybe even earlier. It's a typical nickname for:
girls: Emilia, Emmi, Eveliina, Emma, Elisa...
boys: Erno, Erkki, Eemeli, Elmeri, Eemil...

I don't often comment on your videos as others are infinitely more knowledgeable than me, but I just wanted to say thank you for the way you share your Nightwish journey with us!
During Covid Nightwish's roadcrew made an CD with 5 alternative covers of Nightwish songs. Nightwish facilitated that and all royalties went to the crew. One of these covers is a Rammstein-version of Sleeping Sun and another one is a reggae version of Amaranth. Both are very cool and you know both songs. They call themselves Crewish and that CD is called Unemployed Blacksmiths.
And now they released a new cover of a song you know, Dark Chest Of Wonders. There's a guest role for Tarja. This song comes from their second CD, a full album with 13 songs, which will be released on 9 December. It's called Twice, referring to a Nightwish album called Once and it's their second CD. I can recommend you to check out their songs as they are a lot of fun and pretty good as well.

A few "fun facts"
1. This song is on Nightwish's second album "Oceanborn" and Tuomas was 21 years old when he wrote the album's songs!
2. Tarja Turunen sings on the album, but the background singers are Tuomas Holopainen and Jukka Nvalainen (drums)!
3. Those who are the studio technical people of the album are still with Nightwish in making the albums in the studio!
4. The album has several guest musicians on different instruments such as violin, cello, flute. One of the people playing the violin is the original Nightwish musicians childhood school music teacher (Plamen Dimov)!
The talents of Queen Floor are boundless. It is fantastic being able to listen to her with the greatest symphonic metal group, Nightwish. An amazing combination of talents and abilities. Thank You.

You asked about correct pronunciations... Bear in mind I know nothing of Finnish other than "kitos." 😄 But from listening to proper Finns pronounce them, here is my best interpretation of what they say using phonetic spelling that is most meaningful to we American English speakers. (I've been taught that the first syllable is almost always the accented one in Finnish.)

Another milestone in the musical journey of a lifetime. So glad to be on it with you. You bring such light and joy to every reaction. Emppu is just amazing in so many ways. He's the glue of this family, always walking around and checking on everybody. I've never seen anybody else in any band do that with such love and concern. When you get to The Poet and the Pendulum, you'll see him check on Tuomas several times, as does Marco. It's such a devastating song, to us, but also to the genius composer himself. At the end, both of them join him on the keyboards stand in support. That just doesn't happen anywhere else in the music world. Emppu, along with Tuomas, are the last remaining original members of the band. I can't imagine it without either of them, just love them to the moon. They've done very well with the replacements. I won't complain about "stretching it out" - the longer the journey, the more fun we can have together. I'm in for the whole thing! Another great one!!
Gethsemane perfectly embodies many of the special elements of the Nightwish sound. And those lyrics I just love!

Tonight Floor will appear on stage for the first time after her surgery. Wish I could be there at that very special concert in Antwerp, but Amsterdam Ziggo Dome will do. Only 7 days to the wolves now.. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
Song is great in places but there are several parts that make this one fall way outside my top-10, like the rather boring filler piece from 3:10 - 4:10 (part with Troy in particular feels out of place). Later on there's another part after 5:05 that is rescued by Emppu, though he might've come in way sooner. Song could've been shorter & punchier. Of course, Floor can make any good track sound great. And a good NW track is still way above most bands in the genre.

Very good point Brendon. This is really important point about their journey, in my opinion. Tuomas really improved how to do shorter songs. Oceanborn was kinda technical album and some of the songs are little bit too long or they lacked that heavy punch, like you said. Wishmaster was sequel to Oceanborn but it had much more feeling and less that technicality. Overall had more positive vibe, although that really doesn't matter if it's positive or not. To me Century Child is the first album where they found that right Nightwish style - that's why Marko's joining is such a big mark in their history. Of course, considering that they were just starting out, Oceanborn was a great album.
@@ValtteL Oh yes, Marko joining NW was pivotal in many respects. And indeed Century Child showcased the progress Tuomas had made from an already epic starting level.
Saw them with Floor's After Forever in 2002. They played a lot from their then most recent album CCh and also an Ozzy cover, which funny enough was sung by Bas Maas from After Forever. I recall someone saying that both bands could easily morph into one and while I didn't fully agree, I could see why the comment was made at the time. Cheers and as always thnx for the info!

Anyways, what i am gonna suggest are probably on your list anyway, but, I think you need to do these together in your 1 week schedule, totally contrasting songs, but takes you to the extremes of Tuomas writing, but mainly Floor's ability.... So, either 'Yours is an empty hope' OR 'Sacrament of Wilderness', .. and then away from Nightwish, 'Phantom of the Opera' the Beste Zangers version with Henk Poort... I understand you probably already have a set schedule, but believe me, putting these 2 (whichever you choose) into same week, well, gasms galore !!!.. i guarantee you a smile that needs to be surgically removed !!!... enjoy 🤘🤘🤘

So yesterday while I was enjoying my walk up to the grocery store I was listening to music... Nightwish of course... and as I'm listening to this one specific song I realize that I don't recall you reacting to it yet! So I went and looked at the list Gabriel gave you and noticed it's not on his list. It's a fantastic list, and I've seen this list given to dozens of reactors. It's a great list to work off of.
But when I noticed this song isn't on the list... and realistically, there are far too many songs, and really good songs, to cram all of the on a list... but when I noticed this one wasn't on the list, meaning you are not likely to react to it anytime soon, I felt the need to point this out, and I'm sure many other people will back me on this one...
You should react to "Yours is an Empty Hope". It's a fantastic song that you will enjoy a lot. It is probably one of their most reacted to songs, definitely in the top 5 most reacted to I'd say... and for good reason.
So, I HIGHLY suggest you react to "Yours is an Empty Hope" soon.
I'd recommend the "Nightwish - Yours Is An Empty Hope.Vehicle Of Spirit.Live at Wembley (2015)" version. It's the best version out there that I know of!

An old Nightwish song brought back for the Decades tour. A song of being tormented by a desire for someone, a longing for love. Equating it to being his own Garden of Gethsemane, a real garden that still exists in Jerusalem, where Christ was to have anguished in prayer the night before his crucifixion. Just a few short hours before Floor and Nightwish take the stage in Belgium!!

This song is one I play in my SUV when I am out and about...as I have the "Live Decades Tour" CD's that I listen to all the times. Tuomas also mentions this song in "Dead Boy's Poem"....

Gethsemane is the Garden in the front of the Mount of Olives where it is said in all 4 of the Gospels where Jesus prayed of was arrested by the Romans.
I enjoyed you reaction to the song...as it is an older one, but...yeah...Emppu and Marco had some killer riffs in this song...and Emppu's solos were awesome!
And yes, I have a lot of Bible knowledge... from my parents as they were both Missionary's to the large Hispanic population in our city, and I worked as a graphic artist and a Macintosh hardware and software trainer for their publishing house. My artistic background was also put to use as I did a lot of illustrations too! Then at night, I worked for a magazine publisher as their graphic artist, mainly doing all their Photoshop work, getting them prepared to be sent off to a local place to have the 4 color separations completed so they could be printed for the publication! I was used to getting 4 or 5 hours of sleep...on a good night!
No...I don't do it anymore...my herniated disc in my Lumbar region have me in bed 90% of the time. I can't walk more than a couple of steps without collapsing. My walker does help...but the pain is pretty intense even with my walker.

Your pronunciation of the names is trulybimpressive for a non-native speaker. Tuomas is a tricky one as u, o and a all are pronounced ("latin" pronunciation in all ). Very good vid and song, one that I had missed Thanks a lot =:-) 🇸🇪🇫🇮
You said Emppu and the rest correctly like Floor pronounces them anyway except Tuomas (Floor pronounces it like -2 Um Us) which is really difficult for us English primary speakers . This song is amongst my favorite 40 Nightwish songs, often overlooked, like Sahara, but a great quality song. 🤘🤘

Hey, wonderful reaction, and I agree with everything you feel about this performance, and the song itself 🙂
As a former guitar teacher myself, I can give you some advice on how to approach learning the guitar. The first thing is to not be intimidated by worrying about whether or not you'll do it "correctly". Don't think in those terms; you own the guitar, you can do what the heck you like with it. Pick it up, tune it, and then just place your fingers around the keyboard and make music however you want. Don't be afraid to experiment with it, with no rules.
Then, just watch and listen to other guitar players you admire and channel their attitude, and play around in a way that you think looks like the way they're playing, with the *attitude* that you feel they are playing with. Seriously. It sounds silly, but that's the way we learn when we're twelve and just thinking about getting a guitar to rock out to our favourite bands. That's the best way to get into the groove.
Do get with a good guitar teacher, and follow their lesson plan, but **never** forget that the instrument is entirely **yours**, and if you decide that you want to take what they've taught you and do something cool and innovative, just go for it.
As George Clinton once said, Free your mind and your ass will follow.
Oh, and one other thing that is perhaps more important than anything else - the groove! The rhythm! Just bang along to the groove and rhythm before you even know who to properly play anything - it's really like dancing with your instrument, your fingers dancing across the fretboard. Have fun!!!
Sorry, keep thinking of things to add here lol. Last thing, I promise: If you are playing something in front of people, and you screw up and it sounds horribly off-key and off-time, just tell them it's experimental jazz. Trust me, not even the hard-core jazzbos will know the difference.

This particular video from Buenos Aires is a little muffled and you can't hear all the little instrumental details in it as well as you can on the album version of the song. This is one of my favorite songs from Nightwish.

This is not one im very familiar with probably heard it 3 times but It sounded good anyway and Empuu did some shredding which was great. Stringing the big ones out a bit more, Want something a bit heavier? Master Passion Greed, its only a lyric video because it will never be played live and marko is the lead. Theres a story behind it but you can look that up or im sure someone will put it in the comments. In brazilian, but I believe your pronouncing is correct. As far as I know, in finnish, stress on the first sylab... EMppu, TUOmas, JUkka, MARko...

Ohhh this is a good one. I definitely prefer Tarja on this track cuz she sounds a little more sad and spooky but Floor is obviously fantastic!

That's a blast from the past. It's from Oceanborn, the same album that gave us Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean and Stargazers. Maybe now you can see why old Nightwish has its own fans, at least those who have very fond feelings towards that era and everything they did with Tarja. Especially the latest material is just different in spirit, this old school stuff was complex inside a different type of box that perhaps adhered more to melodic metal traditions in a way. It's difficult to quantify as Tuomas has sort of been redefining the symphonic metal genre with his work over the years more than followed preset genre guidelines.
Since you already enjoyed 3 old school songs from Oceanborn I can recommend another one that I like from the album, Sacrament of Wilderness. I'll even recommend two different versions:

I adore Floor's work, but this one... The original knocks this out of the park. Tarja might of been a bit of a one trick pony, but her version of this was her trick. Same as Everdream tbh.
