Train hard and have fun (and look good too) in OCR Kings merch: teespring.com/...
I started at 350 pounds. I’m currently at 318 and am working to do a spartan race!
U got this!!
Keep at it! Its a mararhon, not a sprint for sure!
Lets go! You got this man
Don't try it at your weight, no offence but you wont make it, try to het your weight down to the mid 200s then you could probably do it
Benjamin Gibson oh I’m not delusional lol. I’m not going to try it anytime soon. Like I said... I’m working towards it.
My girlfriend and I have our first Spartan race next week in Charlotte, wish us luck!
ill be there too!
Good luck, have a great race!!!
Good luck, have a great race!!!
Glhf!!
good luck bro!You both must win!
My friend talked me into doing spartan for this coming October. I should have watched this video before I agreed and signed up.
You'll do great, it's a fun time! Do your thing, be safe, and enjoy.
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
It's an addiction. They only seem scary from far away. Once you do it you are hooked. So my question is
Are you hooked now? Do you have your trifecta? Lol
Seeing shoes and socks fully submerged in mud gives me anxiety, damn.
Yup, it makes a huge mess and gets everywhere
How close this guy always is to the border of the race gives me anxiety
That's why I always buy the Reebok trail runners... they were designed by Spartan racers and drain water extremely well. I used to be all Solomon all the time, but the first time I did a river crossing in training and then had to run another 6km with lead(water) weights on my feet I looked elsewhere.
Oh yeah you go in clean come out muddy 😂
oohh... ive signed up to do a spartan race in a couple months and this video has made me realise... I really need to start training... properly!
Good luck your race! Be safe out there and have fun!
Barnaby Kilby-Pollard have you had your first race since than?
My eyes had a workout while my ass is sitting on the couch. Wow
Love it!
hahaha best comment I have ever seen on my lifeeee
😂😂😂
It looks so easy while sitting on the couch...😂
:-)
My husband finished spartan race 2019 today in Dubai.. im feeling so proud . Love from Tamilnadu
Awesome, congrats to him and thanks for sharing!!!
I can feel the pain of my muscles from watching this. If I'll ever do any Spartan races, I have to train my body to be physically strong and also handle all the cardio.
Right on!
I started spartan races last year; 2018, in Taiwan, I completed the competitive Super and the Beast, but didn’t get the Sprint done. This will be the year of the Trifacta, thanks for the great video, very inspiring!
Awesome! Thanks for watching, and good luck this year with your Trifecta! AROO!
This is probably harder than it looks.
This was a fun one. Flat, warm, and just a good time. There are harder venues out there though.
@@OCRKings Yea ima watch for the mountain treks coming up. I think they are at one in May?
Train hard before.
It's hard, but so much fun.😀👍🏃♂️🏋️♂️
Its honestly not as hard as to looks. I did a super after a lot of rain and 75% of the race was mud and still not as hard as I expected.
I’ll never be able to put into words what this organization has done for my life.
Right on!
Made me dizzy! This looked like nice a fun course. Love mud and 2ft elevation lol.
Yes, this was a good one! Super flat, super fun, and nice weather (at least for us). We had left 25 degree winter, landed, and started running in 80 degree summer!
This was sick! I’m running my first race in Big Bear on May 19th... Now I know what I’m in for... Thanks for sharing, I appreciate the content. 👊🏻💯
THANK YOU! And good luck at your race. Have fun and be safe. Check back in after if you can and let us know how it went.
I’d like to watch someone doing these obstacles for the first time. Clearly this super human has done them before, cause DAYUM! 💪👍🏻😱🤯
You are too kind!
Can't wait to run one of these, it looks awesome - great video guys
Tons of fun... and addictive! Just finished a 10k and 5k weekend and already excited for the next race. Thanks!
Thank you for uploading this video. Signing up for a Spartan Race right now !!!!!
Awesome! Hope to see you out there!
Be aware... once you start, never can stop😉
Elements of Strongman + Ninja Warrior + Good ol Fun This is Awesome!!!
Absolutely!
This looks dope and like loads of fun. Really a test of both physical and mental strength. Definitely going to see what’s in my area
Great! Hope you find one near by. Spartan Sprints are fun. Good luck in your endeavors and if you sign up, maybe we'll see you out there on the course.
My sister and I just did our first two mud runs this year and in May 2020 we are doing our first Spartan! Training starts now! I’m exhausted just watching you guys!
Excellent! Congrats on your first two mud runs, and good luck next year at Spartan! Aroo!
That looks so fun, Been working out for the past 6 months, just needed some goals... Found it, thanks.
Awesome!!! Right on!
Cannot wait to do one of these with my husband 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏾♂️ we weight train but are incorporating more cardio into our routine
Excellent! You will do great with the strength stuff (the lifting, carrying, climbing, and pulling). Good luck out there and maybe we'll see you on the course one day!
Thanks for this video. I'm doing the Jacksonville Sprint in 2020 so it's nice to know what I need to work towards! :)
Awesome! Good luck at your race, be safe and have fun. Jacksonville is a great venue. Aroo!
How did it go this weekend?
Actually going to sign up for one of these! Absolutely stoked for it!
Update: Ran the sprint at Spartan Ohio and had an absolute blast! Will definitely do another! Maybe even a go after the trifecta next year!
Excellent! Have fun out there and be safe!
I’ve done 2 Savage Blitz and I’m doing the full race in November. I’m gonna add this to my list of races to do!
:-)
Helix looked fun and new (to me). Hope spartan keeps revamping some of their ancient obstacles.
Agreed. New stuff at Spartan would be great. They had a few other new ones at the Super the day before our race, but they removed that part of the course and the obstacles with it for the Sprint. We are looking fwd to the 8' Box and Beater, both of which present their own unique challenges. Helix was new for us, as was the Tire Flip. We've seen those in videos from out West, but this was a first for us on the East Coast. Hope they have the Tire Flip for all races this year, it's a great strength obstacle. The thing weighs 400 lbs.
@@OCRKings 8ft box and Beater were killers for me at the Az races earlier. Love the tire, I train with one that is around 350 but I flip it the length of my yard about 15 flips then do 30 burpees then flip it back. Train harder then what you have at the race then it is fun and you know you can do it at the race. My plate drag is about 100 pounds so the one at the race is cake. Will be in Atlanta next weekend.
Did this in Spartan Race Dubai in 2018. It was fun and tough at the same time. Got qualified for the trifecta but didn't bother to try to as my body had given up 😂😂.
Very cool, congrats on doing the race in Dubai!
Doing my first Spartan race this August and I'm so excited
Awesome! Be safe out there and have a great time!
@@OCRKings thank you!
I’m 5’11 and like 197, moderately athletic and this specific venue looks fun because it’s an excuse to get dirty
Right on!
did last Weekend a BEAST @ Oberndorf Austria, but i know, you guys did a great Job to, and thanks for this nice Vid
AROOO !
Aroo!! Congrats on your Beast my friend nice job!
Planning on doing my first Spartan race this fall!
Excellent! Have a great race, be safe and have fun!
I feel so encouraged by this video and all the positive comments! I’m signed up for Austin, TX 2022! I’ve lost a 100 LBS but still have some
Weight on me! I have a plan and I’m excited to push my own limits! Appreciate you guys! Tony
This is awesome Tony! 100 pounds off is a monster challenge in itself. Bravo Zulu to you. Give everything a try and do what you can - its all fun! Got a bunch of other videos published with some obstacle tips and tricks. We always try to complete obstacles smarter, not harder. Have a great race and keep up that awesome work!
honestly the rolling under the wire gets me every time😂 but very efficient
Hard to watch, I know. It does work tho. Usually spin 6 times, then stop, pivot legs in the other direction and spin 6 more times. It helps keep you from getting dizzy.
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to do it!
Thanks for watching!!
working out trying to gain some more muscle gonna do one next June hopefully with my buddy this video was really well put together thank-you for sharing
Thank you! And good luck at your next race! Be safe and have fun!
I just did my first adult race and I loved it !!!
Awesome! Congratulations!
We have so much of this races in Germany...from 6 miles to 24h
Braveheart Battle, Strongman Run, Tough Mudder aso
Excellent!
Going to attempt this next year here in Illinois. Gonna start training for it in December, want to give 110% when I go in
Right on! And good luck at your race, be safe and have fun!
Thank you for this I doing the San Antonio one in three weeks
Right on! Good luck at your race! Be sae and have fun. Check back in if you can and let us know how it went. AROO!
Someone mentioned to look into this. And I'm definitely interested. I wanna get in shape enough to do this. Looks incredibly tough but fun. Ive been trying as hard as I can to get in shape. That's my goal NOW. Train for this .
Awesome!! You got this! Put your mind to it and get after it - you'll do great!!
Thanks, this is really going to help me prepare. I appreciate it!
Excellent! And thanks for watching!
Nice one, quality footage. Been doing OCR for a season or two, 15:01 beer made me laugh... Yeah. such a culture we live. Alcohol LOL
Thanks!
Nice!! The more I watch new videos of Spartan race this year, the closer I get to getting ready for the new jersey ultra and beast, way to go guys! 👍
Awesome!! We'll see you out there in NJ for the Ultra!
And the image stabilization on those GoPros is amazing!
The GP Hero 7' Hypersmooth is awesome, I must say. Totally worth the upgrade.
When ur tired to crawl under 4:06
Heh-heh-heh, yes. Looks silly, but it's actually faster than crawling.
Thank you for sharing this, I had no idea. Super Pumped to shoot for this.
Thanks for watching! Hopefully races will resume soon. Right now we're all in a holding pattern due to coronavirus. Stay safe out there!
AHHH LOVE IT MAN THIS RACE WAS AMAZING
Right on!! It was a good time out there!
So the sprint race is the 3ish miles race right? And it has all of these obstacles? I'm planning on doing my first spartan in October in san diego
I am going to do my first race in April ! loved this video ! thank you
Thanks for watching, and good luck at your race in April!
I was at 340 I'm now at 308 at 6'4 I've always wanted to do one of these.. I want to continue to lose weight and train to do a Spartan race
Outstanding! You can do it!! Keep up the great work and perhaps we'll see you out there on the course!
Thank you for making this video. My first Spartan is in a few months. Wasn't sure what to expect. Of course there had to be a rope climb, always been my nemesis since Basic Training lol. AROO!
Good luck at your spartan. Welcome to the tribe! Jacksonville or another venue? The rope climb has become a staple obstacle and they always put it right where all the spectators can watch the fails! Ugh. They modified the Olympus obstacle too. Steeper angle and a slick surface - now its probably the hardest obstacle. Will have it in our 2020 SoCal Super video going live very soon.
@@OCRKings thank you! It's the Garretsville, Ohio trail. I'm a northerner. The dilemma I come across is really no way of practicing the rope climb. I have 4 months to figure something out lol.
Lol at that elevation gain
Ha, right?! I couldn't believe the Garmin when I looked at the data. There were a few hills which were packed dirt on the race track, but I guess the exchange over all was not enough to register. It was a nice flat course, I have to say.
@@OCRKings nice. My first spartan race with 3 buddies is Saturday in lawrenceburg Indiana, on a ski slope. Should be crazy hard, and with the heat and humidity we have this weekend! Lol
Cody Meyers Good luck out there! Stay hydrated, be safe, and have a great race!
@@themeyersfam I was there on the slopes with you for my first race! It's now Sunday night and I'm feeling it everywhere lol.. hope you had fun!
@@OCRKings It'd be great for a first timer to the Spartan Race
I'm running my first OCR in November this year at the gulf and I appreciate you giving me ideas for training!
Also any tips on shoes?
Excellent!!! Good luck at your first race in November! Be safe out there and have fun!
Yes - just recently I got a pair of Altra Lone Peak Mid Mesh 4.0. LOVE them! Altra makes some great shoes. That is a good place to start looking.
You guys are lit..
love your videos
THANK YOU!!!
This was is the race i need to run. I did three years at blue mountain pa and thought I’d die every time just from climbing ski slopes then they threw in the obstacles on the way down... I did lots of burpees ...😅 . great job guys, you look like pros!
Thanks! And, yes Jacksonville is flat and easy. Definitely a fun time!
Yoo that's awesome!😍 (I love how he's reading comments and replying to everyone in a kind way, we should have more of this content on TH-cam)
THANK YOU!! We're trying to keep it positive, but also sincere. Kind of "say what you mean, mean what you say." We like talking to people and are genuinely stoked that people are watching the videos and communicating with us, and each other. TH-cam is cool like that sometimes. Thank you for watching and for commenting here my friend!
Looks like lots of fun. :) Recently I fell in love with these OCR.
Awesome! Thank you!
Have my first one coming up in June, on a ski hill here in Minnesota 👊
See you there 💪🏻
Excellent, have a great race!!
Hey, I live in MN as well, where is it?
@@liamd6238 Its in Welch Village, at the ski resort.
@@Joshs.Journey thanks
San Jose had many hills and it was super sunny ☀️. Less wet/muddy. So cool to see the different landscapes in Spartan’s elsewhere! We had barbed wire going up a steep dry hill instead. Everyone was struuuuuuugggggling there. Hahaha! Such a sight. Aw, so sore today. Feels great
Awesome! Thanks for the info! Uphill barbed wire sounds challenging. We have to get out there one day. Next season!
Fun, flat and muddy. Keep the videos coming.
Absolutely, that sums up the JAX course to a T! Thanks, more to come!
Such a great video. Thanks for sharing. So excited for my 1st spartan race!!
Thank you! And good luck at your first Spartan, be safe and have a great race!
oh I always wear Choresaver gloves for my grip on bars, I get them at a Job lot next to the Planet fitness workout Center.
Very good, we might have to try those perhaps
@@OCRKings I can only imagine how many of You get calluses ripped off. Triple antibiotic ointment is the best.
Stability looks really nice on the new cameras
Thank you very much. GP 7 Hero Black w/hypersmooth
I haven't done a Spartan since 2014 and I impulsively agreed to do the Sprint in a month with a guy I really like... 😂 the shit we do to impress those we like! Thankfully I feel my newfound love for bouldering and rock climbing is going to come in handy for me... still sure I'll be burpeeing past that fucking rope climb though 😠
You will do great! If you're climbing and bouldering, you will kill it out there, no worries! And tell Mr Man over there that he better appreciate you being out there - Spartan Women kick ass!
My boyfriend signed us up for a Sprint in October and I will most likely fail monkey bars and rope climb but me finishing is an accomplishment in itself 😂
Tayler Tovar what happens if you can’t pass one of the obstacles (ie monkey bars)?
@@Speakoutloud807 I believe it's 30 burpees or a time penalty. So, if you, like me, might die doing multiple sets of 30 burpees you can get a time penalty instead. That's what was told from someone who ran a race previously.
Tayler Tovar I’ll be doing burpees all the way 😂
Cool - good POV of a Spartan Sprint
Thanks!
I'm doing my third Spartan next weekend and I'm hoping for another win in the 2mile race
Very good - hope your race(s) went well!!
@@OCRKings I walk 9 miles in my hometown once in a while, making sure my cardio is in good shape.
Thanks 🙏🏽 for sharing! I’m running the one this Saturday at Fort McDowell AZ 🏃🏽♀️💨 Feb 2020
Awesome! Have a great race. Aroo!
Im doin my first one in Chicago June 2nd. Holy balls this is gunna take some doin!

Have a great race!
@Rachel Finney Very good!
Awesome vid, can’t wait to do this race!
Excellent, thank you! And good luck to you at your race! Have fun and be safe.
I'm training for this; so EXCITING!!!😃😃😃 ALTHOUGH, I'll have to wait until this Covid challenge is met.😡
Awesome! Happy training! Hang in there, we all hope covid quiets down and we can race again in 2021. Until then train hard and have fun!
Spartan races are awsome
Totally agree with you!
Got my race in 2 days in Mobile, AL. I’ve done a sprint and a super before but this year trying to get that trifecta. Worried about the bucket brigade. Embarrassed myself last two races with those 😂
How did your race go?? Hope things went well, especially with the bucket brigade. Check back in and let us know when you can. AROO!
As a smaller guy, the bucket brigade is always the most difficult obstacle for me. I'll have to drop the bucket 2-3 times usually
Bucket Brigade is a slog. We end up putting the bucket down at least once too. We sit right on it some times to let the arm burn subside.
My first race was a Beast last weekend in Mulberry Florida I plan on doing the super in Jacksonville in a few months.
Excellent! Good luck at Jacksonville, be safe and have a great race!
*4:50** Lol...*
They see me rolling 😂
HAHAHAHAH! Now I have that song stuck in my head.
Great. Nauseous a second time. Lol
Love the video! Been awhile since I emailed you guys, need to catch you up on last season. I am doing Greek Peak next Saturday. And it looks like we are getting snow for it! Should be awesome!!!
Thanks!! Wow, snow next week?? Yikes! Dress WARM and BE SAFE out there. Please hit us up and let us know how it went. Wondering if some of the new obstacles are going to be there. Either way, have a great race, and email when you can.
Oof that's the same day as my birthday. Good luck dude.
@@OCRKings I will definitely let you know how it goes! I don't think I emailed you since Palmerton. I did Killington's Beast to finish my first trifecta...kicked my butt, but pleased to do it 6h44m. I will catch up with you by email soon! Awesome videos is always guys!
That dunk wall terrifies me! How much space was there in between the wall and the floor?
The dunk wall freaks out A LOT of people. The water's edge was flush with the bottom of the wood for this one, maybe even an inch or so over it. The base of the water pit was no more than 3 feet I'd say. Think of it as waist deep water. The easiest was to defeat the dunk wall is to place one hand palm up under the wall's edge. and grip it. That's your guide. You then hold the wall and go to your hand when you dip your head under. It's safe, and it's FAST. If you look at that part in the video, we both do it, and we're only under the water for a split second.
@@OCRKings yeah, I don't mind burpees but I can't swim :-(
purplerox1313 all obstacle equipment looks dangerous!
@@OCRKings what about for people with glasses?
Yeah I know what you mean, me and my friends are preparing for a race later this year and my stomach sunk a bit when I saw that obstacle. I have to wear ear plugs in the shower to avoid getting ear infections, so I'm currently thinking up work-arounds for this annoyance.
Well done. I have mine this Saturday. Wish me a luck y'all
Excellent! Good luck at your race, have fun and be safe!
@@OCRKings Thank you, I will
I’m doing two tmrw on the Sunshine Coast (australia) (equals 21km) My muscles are gonna be dying for the next 2-3 days
Good luck!! Be safe and have a great time!
Damn that looked fun. Started runnig these kind of races but many injurys stoped my progression but this made me damn motivated. There was some things (4-5) i cant do but i am working on them.
Excellent - keep working! Be safe though, watch out for re-injury. Be safe, and keep training!
Great video. Wow, it looks inviting. Is there an age limit?
Thanks! And I think the age limit on the Spartan site is 98 (no joke). The oldest I've seen and run with was mid 70's.
@@OCRKings Ok then, thanks. Well, you never know...you might just see me out there. Yeah!!👊
Aroo!
I was at this one!!! I love seeing your videos before I do a obstacle course so when I volunteered at the rope climb and saw you guys, I had a bit of a fan girl moment lol. Great job!!!
Awesome!! Thank you so much for watching, and thank you for volunteering! Sorry we didn't connect there at the rope climb. If we run into each other on the course in the future, don't hesitate to say hi! Even if were on the rope itself, it would have been great to talk with you!
SHOUT OUT TO MY LADIES 💃🏿💃🏿yall handling it babies 💕💕💕💕
Right on!
Great video, doing my first Spartan race in Big Bear this weekend, the Sprint.....I am hoping a lot of these obstacles will be in the Big Bear race, I like that Atlas carry and bucket brigade!
Excellent! Good luck at your race, be safe and have fun! And Yes, most, if not all of the obstacles in the video will be there. Maybe not the tire flip, but definitely the bucket carry, spear, etc.
@@OCRKings Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.....as I sit here watching the video again.....and I'll be watching it again tonight so I can dream about flying through the course like you guys do....haha
The chick on the z wall made it all worth it, oh and the beer
:-)
Great video, thanks for posting this
Thank you!
So if you don't hit a cow bell at the end of an obstacle do you have to start that obstacle over? I haven't done one so I'm curious
You have to do 30 burpees
Right on
At Spartan Races if you don't complete the obstacle, you do a penalty of 30 burpees, rather than trying a second pass. I guess you could go back after your penalty and try it again, but if you don't complete the obstacle you have to do 30 more burpees. Most people do their penalty and then move on.
looks so cool! i will be signing up!
Excellent!!
I'm curious, I've never heard of Spartan Race, is it similar to Tough Mudder? From this one video they look similar, except Tough Mudder seems to focus more on working together and helping each other while Spartan is more individual
Pretty much! Tough Mudder is more military based while Spartan is more of a athletic/competition endeavor
That is a good way to sum it up. Tough Mudder is a "mud run" - usually not timed, and cooperative in nature. There are no penalties for skipping failing obstacles (usually). Spartan is an "obstacle race" - it is timed, there are elite and competitive waves, and penalties for missing obstacles. Tough Mudder is fun based, Spartan is more competitive. Both are fun, both are worth doing.
Right on
Most people I talk to about obstacle races respond with "Oh, is that like Tough Mudder?" Was that like the first one or something? Not sure why it's so well known, I've found it to be the most underwhelming course D:
@@grayatreides7327 Personally I find Tough Mudder is just really well advertised. They have a lot of TH-cam ads and it seems like a lot of people who run it post to TH-cam as well. It was the first one I heard about and I only found out about races like Spartan from recommendeds off of Tough Mudder videos.
I have my first Spartan Race this Sunday in West Palm Beach.
Awesome! Good luck at your first Spartan, be safe and have fun!
Oh? Mines tomorrow. Its an ultra at mountain creek NJ.
I'm about to run a super with my husband. He's been training all yr and the only training I get is working at costco lol. I hope I'm not completely out of my mind. He will do great, but I'm scared
Which Super? Hope all goes/went well!!
Awesome video! That was such a fun event! You should have added that huge MTX hill in. That is an obstacle all in its own for people down here in Florida.
Right on! I'm surprised the Garmin didn't register that higher on the elevation exchange. It looked huge too from the parking lot!
My Garmin didn't either. Maybe we were just running too fast for it to record! 🤣🤣
What Garmin do you guys run with? I am on the cheap with a Forerunner 25, and it is a little too easy to bump the buttons on obstacles and get it to stop recording. I need something better.
@@Nefariousrouge We've got Forerunners 225 and 235 going. The 235 was the one with the elevation data (or lack thereof)
Great video. Quality is superb. See you at the next one! Are you going to do a Sit Rep on JAX?
THANKS!! And yes, we will be doing a Sitrep :-) See you out there on the course my friend!
Z wall is a nice looking obstacle. ;)
Will be doing Spartan in May, feeling my usual excitement and dread that comes with each OCR. Anyway, this gives me a rough idea what to expect, though I imagine they switch things up location to location. Thanks for posting!
I'm doing one in may too, although mine is 21kms (13 miles long). Can't wait!
Thank you for watching!! Have a great race, have fun and be safe!
Excellent! are you doing a Spartan Beast?
@@OCRKings thanks!
@@OCRKings Yep, that's the one.
AROO! from Mexico

I miss going to these races next year I will be back for sure
Excellent! Good luck at your races, be safe and have fun!
Go pro seven footage so smooth!!! Seems like massive difference, is it just me?
No, you're right, it's WAY smoother! It's almost like having a mechanical gimbal. Really happy with the ole Hypersmooth.
Did a spartan last year in Illinois, about the same obstacles. The atlas carry is definitely a tricky one. Ball destroys ground so you are picking up ball from underneath ground level. A lot harder than what it seems.
Right on, totally true. The bomb holes the atlas stones create get deeper the longer the race goes on too.
Damn that flat of a race? Come to VA most of the races here don't have any flat surfaces at all lol
Awesome! We might have to check out VA. Now don't get me wrong, that flatness was really enjoyable. It just was very different from what we're used to. For a first race off of a little winter down time, it was perfect!
Budds creek one is all up and down terrains mainly in the woods
@@tjr622 Nice, that sounds cool and more like what we're used to.
