Wow, that's really inexpensive for the features. And it looks like you get a rebate or a coupon too? Did not expect that, I was assuming it would be up there for like $200
after longing for years for oldschool Wood Elf miniatures on Ebay (and the insane Ebay prices), I really can't wait for the Old World Relaunch. I'm gonna get so much stuff I couldn't get when I was younger or that I lost during the times - Forest Dragon!
I remember painting Orion many years ago. The figure was on display at my local gaming store and was stolen. When I painted him I had the leaves on the bottom of his cape look like fall leaves to show the passing of the seasons. This one blows my paint job out of the water, but I did love my cape. I also have Ariel somewhere if you want to get them together.
That model came out looking fantastic, Casey! Really glad that you should be able to utilize this model in multiple gaming systems too. Those conversion bases are great.
I've been filtering snd reusing my LA Totally Awesome. It's still concentrated soap just with paint and glue particles. It's as black as the abyss but still works in my sonic cleaner and jars. I've been reusing 4 bottles for about a year, I buy and sell on ebay so I strip often, and haven't had a problem. Food for though and money in the bank.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues it was ages ago now. Ive not painted a warhammer model in over 10 years. I managed to sustain myself through uni painting minis.
It is really impressive to see how well sculpted some older models were, but the more 'modern' miniatures painting techniques weren't there yet to really show them off. Orion still shows his age with the weird stipling fur, but overall he's a really impressive model for the era :o
Honestly, i feel the stretchy glue could actually be genius for metal models… instead of brittle joins which SNAP! under pressure they will BOING! Right back into position!
I got one of these briefcase for few bucks. There was differents tools for hoby and also a complete citadel airpistol. Still need the bottle to use it but it was a good deal!
i've seen that kind of glue before: it's a derivative of contact glue (the kind shoemakers use) used for large rasin surfaces that don't have to bear any load. It's garbage at glueing small surfaces, and once it fails to glue 2 surfaces, it taints the material (if it's resin or plastic i mean) making it almost impossible to glue with cyanoacryllate or plastic glue (depending on the material). I've never seen it used on metal minis.
the glue that it was stuck together with appears to be UHU glue, there was a period during the 90s where certain folks would swear by it as an alternative to superglue for metal minis, the only problem is, it degrades and goes like rubber. that said, it's great for scenery, just not so much for models.
Looks like UHU glue to me. A lot of people would have had that kicking around the house for crafts and it would be pretty natural to assume it would be good for this if you didn't really have any experience with more specialist glues for more niche hobby/crafting purposes (superglue wasn't always as ubiquitously used as it is now).
Ugh! There you are at Comic Kingdom AGAIN! It's fine, I only build to paint. I've never actually played a game. Always thought it looked like fun though.
haha, I'm in there every so often, mostly to look at their used minis. Brent from Goobertown and I were there for half a day a couple of months ago, that was a good time. I played some spearhead and he cheered me on. I don't play as much as I paint, but if I do it's at CK.
I'm too scared of how ham handed I still am (as of now) with the airbrush to paint something as small as that figure is--more work to be done there before I can tackle that. But he looks great, a proper creepy wood elf king indeed! How long is this Vevor discount sale lasting for?
You'll get there! Practice more and more and it will become second nature :) I didn't get a timeline for the discount, but I assume it will be there for a while. Even then, they seem like the kind of company that does deals pretty often, so hopefully, it will come back around quickly if it disappears.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues I have one of those little jewelry oriented sonic cleaners and it works well enough. But a larger and more powerful device may well be in my future! Counter space is lacking in my apartment, though, so I'll have to get clever with where I put it!
@@MaskedRiderChris Ahh yeah, I used one of those small ones for a long time, they definitely work well enough, but I hear ya. The ones I have now are decently large, but they could be worse. Specifically, this model is 12"X6.5"X11" so not too huge, more wide and tall, but pretty small width wise.
I got them on Amazon a while back. "Warmtree" realistic miniature leaves. They are on my Amazon affiliate list if you want to check them out. should be at the top. amzn.to/3UNUrWx
So I saw someone (maybe mediocre hoboes) do a green knight a while back with a pistachio paint as the brightest green and i think it could look really great as a slightly less yellow alternative to the bright green your using.
Pistachio would be a good alternative; it is much lighter and more desaturated. I painted a Warlord Titan with Duck Egg green, that's similar, very nice color.
hey i'm curious if you would be interested in rescuing an imperial knight for me i made it during an extreme low point in my life and i've come a long way since then and i would love for it to be fixed as like a mile stone to remind me how far i've come
Vevor Sonic Cleaner Discount! Not too bad at all:

I'm guessing they sold out. 😂
Glad they aren’t going to be fired now, so good of you from your first world country.

The lady from Vevor can feed her family tonight!
Gonna be bringing this up again in the next podcast...she sent me a fun email after this came out lol
Watching your skills grow over the years has been such a delight. Love this paintjob and you made an old metal model look incredible.
Wow congrats Casey, thats your best work by a lot so far... u gettin better and better... oh and we need more woodelves !
I'm glad that Vevor rep can eat finally!
I was looking for these comments!!! 😂
lol, she's so mad at me
That is really cool! Looking at Orion, I'm getting an idea to kitbash Wood Elves with Beastmen, to create Kurnothi from Warhammer Underworlds.
I have a 3D printed one of those. I really needed the inspiration to paint it.
This is such a cool model and you done it so much justice looks like it could be a newer model
Did a really excellent job honoring the original skin painting and the result looks fantastic.

This model brings back memories. I got my first highly commended at Golden Deamon in the late 90s with it.
Nice!

"Pull it out and swap however you want" that's the dream.
Great video as always, really cool model!
The flowers on the cloak are a really nice touch.
they are leafs.
@@jonathanekat3852 Ah, I see.

Great video, and vevor are a great company, I have their mini vortex mixer and it's a sweet piece of kit to have.
Very nice! This is one of the best looks for this old model that I've ever seen. Nice colours and execution!
Very cool paint job

It could be the perfect solution if you can get it to hold while also not being a large lump of clear goo. It definitely has some potential!
I really appreciate the music list! It's a real jam
Excellent video.. Your painting skill keeps getting better and it's fun to watch. This piece came out great
Thanks a bunch, I’m really happy with how this one turned out :)
Love those leaves on the cloak
The doctor pimple popper of the miniatures hobby, sometimes hard to watch but definitely satisfying
I’d almost want to leave the polished metal unpainted for the metal parts, it looks so good 🔥
I got one of these briefcase for few bucks. There was differents tools for hoby and also a complete citadel airpistol. Still need the bottle to use it but it was a good deal!
Honestly, the rubbery-ness of that old glue would be perfect for pokey bits of models like flags or banners so they bend, rather than snap.
Eyyyyyy! Casey's back! Hope you had a great holiday and glad to see you back to making videos again.
Let's hope the guy gets rules in the upcoming Arcane Journal.
If you leave metal models in acetone long enough (say overnight) the glue will dissolve, no need to pull them apart!
Yo man love your vids you did a great job on Orion he looks amazing, I was wondering where you got those small leafs you used on the base
And now your contact at Vevor can eat..

What size was your sonic cleaner?
I'm pretty sure this is a 6L model. That's the link they gave me, and it looks like the same one.

i love the old models, they remind me of ancient coins, plastic has no class whatsoever!
