We are Jacob and Jenny, a husband and wife passionate about traveling the world. We started uploading in May, 2021 with a goal to see as much of the globe as possible. After visiting Costa Rica and French Polynesia, the time was right to quit our full-time jobs, so we left everything to travel and have loved every minute of it. Our goal is to make it to all seven continents and visit as many countries as possible. Follow along and be a part of the journey!

bibim (= mix) bap (= rice)
So, to make bibimbap, you need to put the rice in a vegetable bowl and mix it well.
    And enjoy it!!
If you don't like spicy food, ask for soy sauce seasoning instead of gochujang(red pepper paste) seasoning.

@@JacobandJennyTravel I'm so glad you did that.
When I eat bibimbap, I eat half of the rice as bibimbap and the other half with other side dishes.
Rice is the main dish in Korean meals.
And all side dishes(banchan) exist to make the rice taste better.
The job of all side dishes is to season the rice.
In other words, all side dishes taste best when eaten with rice.
If you only eat side dishes without rice, Koreans will worry that it will be too salty.
Since ancient times, Korean people have wanted to consume balanced nutrition, which is why there are various side dishes.
So not only me but all Koreans will like you to try a variety of different side dishes with each spoon of rice. I'm sure every Korean viewers will want you to get balanced nutrition.
One more tip here! typically, rice and soup are eaten with spoons, and chopsticks are used to pick up side dishes.

      @DreamerToday 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@JacobandJennyTravel I'll tell you one more thing!!
I think you often eat 'ssam(wrapping)' in Korea, because 'Ssam' is an important way to consume all the taste and nutrition of Korean food.
If you are going to eat 'ssam', I recommend making the ssam into portions that you can eat in one bite and eating it in one bite.
That way, you will be able to taste all the flavors at once.
I wrote it here because Koreans feel very sorry that foreigners, when eating ssam, make it too big and eat it like a taco. 😅

Please continue to enjoy Korean food to your heart’s content.
And I'm really enjoying your video.👍

Oh... speaking of bibimbap... 'bibim' means 'mix' or 'blend,' and 'bap' means 'cooked rice.' So, you add your rice to the bibim bowl, meaning you should mix them all together rather than eating them separately. This is my first time seeing someone eating them separately. I reckon if you mixed it with rice, it wouldn't be that spicy hahaha : ) Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip in Korea xx

Hope you guys went to a makgeolli restaurant while in Jeonju. What you do is order a kettle of makgeolli and you get lots of dishes (around 10 or more) that are supposed to complement the makgeolli type you ordered. For the amount of food you get plus the alcohol, it is good deal Kettle prices range from $20 to $50,. Plus, you get to try a lot of food that aren't known in the west. Too bad you are only two people as you could try up to 3 different types of kettles and get around 30 to 40 different types of dishes (not side dishes). If you decide to try it, make sure you are hungry because you get a lot of food.

Hello again, Jacob and Jenny! Korea is not a country that I really know well, and I haven't explored it, so your video here is really an eye opener for me! It seems like everywhere you go, you find a new wonderland waiting for you - it's wonderful to be that joyful and to have that magical ability. My main contact with Korea has been through the president of my acupuncture school, Dr. Kim. He was very psychic and intuitive, and showed us how he could read a patient's life just through psychic impressions. I actually met him in a dream shortly before I met him in person, so meeting him physically was kind of like a deja vu experience.

Secondly, I wonder if you have ever thought of doing videos, or writing travel guides, that make an effort to digest and sum up all the places you've been, making some sense and order of all your diverse travel experiences. Kind of like data and meta-data, I suppose. It seems like you wax ecstatic about just every place you visit, and it keeps just getting better and better - but how do you get some sense of perspective on it all?

Before the Joseon Dynasty, there was the Three Kingdoms period. During the Three Kingdoms period, there were three countries: Baekje, Goguryeo, and Silla. Baekje's headquarters were Buyeo, Gongju, and Jeonju. There are Baekje base and Silla base in Korea. Silla's headquarters is Gyeongju. Goguryeo's headquarters were in North Korea and the northeastern region of present-day China. Goguryeo's territory was the largest, and the northeastern part of present-day China was Goguryeo's territory, and 3:1 of China's territory was Goguryeo's territory. The period before the Three Kingdoms period is the Goryeo period. The current name of the country, Korea, originated from the Goryeo Dynasty.

Bibimbap is a food that you eat by adding rice and mixing it all together. If you don't put rice in bibimbap or mix it properly, it's like eating a hamburger taken apart. If you don't know, ask the store owner to learn how to eat it properly. If you don't know something at another restaurant, be sure to ask the owner to be sure. It's never shameful to ask.

Jeonju Hanok Village is Korea's cultural capital? Nah! It's just a big theme park without walls where you can enjoy being ripped off for mediocre street foods. You can find real traditional K-culture OUTSIDE the Hanok village. Please try other parts of Jeonju. You won't regret it.
