    Must be Karma, or big brother spying on me, lol.....but after buying 6 of these descenders yesterday, this video pops up in my recommend feed. Great job on these and I love the tip of leaving a cap with the tubing to cover the fork ends. I make mostly natural tree fork slings, but gotta give these a go

      The Smo Show l wanted to let you know I came up with a simple ad pie jig to hold these descenders which allows cutting across both forks at once, and perfectly even. Get a 1x4 pine board about 4" longer than the descender. Lay the descender flat on the board, but with the end you're cutting off hanging over the end of the board. Holding the descender firmly and flat, trace the outline shape of it onto the board, then cut that shape out with a jigsaw or scroll saw, etc.,but just "inside" your line. You want a snug enough fit to where you can lay the board flat on a table and push the descender into the cutout and flat against the table, and have it snug enough it stays in place when you pick up the board. Then, just clamp the board in a vise horizontally, clamp it and cut across both tips at the same time with a hack saw.....clean and quick. Hope that helps.
      BTW, love that green one, would love to know where you got it, or a link / URL if you have it ?
      Also, are you on the Slingshot Forum ? Lot of great guys and gals on there that love anything and everything sling related.

    No way in hell can I get the latex tubing over the fork tips, and I'm using the same stuff you are: Spearit #804 3/8"ODx1/4"ID. My fork tip diameter is 1/2". I'm reverting to my own method of wrapping the forks with 3/4"x3/8 band sets, which works pretty well, but I'll admit your tube method is a better alternative, if you can make it work...which I can't.

    • @TheSmoShow1
      @TheSmoShow1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to get a good amount of the hand sanitizer in the tube and on the fork tip, and work it on there. Sorry I can't be more detailed. I guess after making over 100 of them it's second nature for me..

    • @FTA4evr
      @FTA4evr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSmoShow1 I keep watching your video and will go back and try again, with plenty of goop applied. I'm looking for slightly larger tubing now, but it's hard to come by in relatively small quantities. Oh, well, it gives me something to shoot for. You're the man!

    • @FTA4evr
      @FTA4evr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AccordionSqueezer I use x-flock heat shrink tube on slingshots, but the latex tubing idea seemed like a simple and elegant way of doing things. I'll try a slightly larger ID tubing.
