I keep returning to this video - again and again - to reassure myself that this ravishingly beautiful performance was not something dreamed. It seems impossible for the sum to exceed the power of the composition; the transcendence of her voice; the elementally emotional fire-and-ice interplay between guitars; the deeply meaningful setting and the warmth of that fading light on such lovely women . . . yet it does. Even that 60 hertz Fender hum adds an anxious charge to the atmosphere before it is subsumed into the whole. Absolutely brilliant!
She was on her way. I remember first seeing her in an American express commercial then on letterman shortly after. I think she's to much of a real musician to fall into the mainstream. She would have had to sell out and become pop/trash. Example is someone like Jesse j who is an amazing vocalist who had to sing trash music that didn't showcase her talent. Nicole is at the top of my favorites list with tori Amos, and older bjork
So young. So talented. She remains my favourite female artist to this day. Probably her greatest track but every album has a masterpiece or two. One of the most talented artists of the 21st century. No question. Live, she's the bees' knees.
This brings back so many memories from around 10 years ago. Everything seems different now. Good times. Loved the sideshow alley series, will always do.
Nicole is simply the most stunning female vocalist alive today according to my ears. Great support on the guitar and a fine sound recording. Magnifique! :-)
We built a tower for all the town to see Bricks, concrete, metal and memories Inside the rocks and stone, spaces became our home Arguments echoing, love made me so high Searching for words for the end But we built the tower too high When the light finally dies and we look to the sky Will we finally know why The call the dawn the morning And I'd wish we'd said goodbye Years flying by, trapped all alone in the sky And you stories down and all our loved ones outside Our words turned out all wrong Intentions lost in halls Now all I want to do is tear down the walls Searching for words for the end But we built the tower too high When the light finally dies and we look to the sky Will we finally know why The call the dawn the morning And I wish we'd said goodbye Seems like the final day you'll ever come my way So please forgive me if I hold on too tight, too tight Tight, tight, tight There's a tower, there's a tower There's a tower, crumbling Crumbling, crumbling, down So when the light finally dies I'll know the answer to why They call the dawn, mourning Wish I could've told you goodbye.
Do people need their pulses checked? This is the most beautiful performance anyone could imagaine watching. I adore Nicole...such a wonderful song that hits so close to home and reminds us all of the losses from the real crumbling towers...she really nails how we all feel that in our hearts. Thank you Nicole, for being you, for being real and for sharing your gift. xo
I knew Irina before she even knew how to play guitar. She was an awesome classical pianist, then decided one day that she wanted to play guitar. She just went out and did it. So proud. Miss you Irina ~ Tex
remember me at my session with Sandra Braun at the side of Lake Constance.. She has sung there Alanis Morisette´s "Thank You" Must watching at my Channel...You can hear also the generator...lol greet´s Bernhard and thank You for Your awesome locations
The echo and ruin of once ancient Babel, towers come and fade away in to dust, in to the ground there is only the illusion of new and novel as all of history repeats.
I love this song, and I think Nicole is the best girl composer in the States in the last years, but I'm sorry, always since I heard Mondo Amore, feel like I was getting to a climax with this song, and then, the guitar solo just tear everything down. I feel like this song could've use a more technical-blues-guitar-player, more influenced by Jimmy Page or something, 'cause being like this, is like hearing a 10 year old boy playing. I've nothing against this girl, but she have to work on her skill

Fave female singer of all time, why Nicole isn't more well known is beyond me.

I saw this girl play with the Avett Brothers last year, she's incredible live! Such energy and uniqueness of her voice!
So young. So talented. She remains my favourite female artist to this day. Probably her greatest track but every album has a masterpiece or two. One of the most talented artists of the 21st century. No question. Live, she's the bees' knees.
her talent never ceases to amaze me.... her guitarist is right there too...

Wow, I'm still here. this performance is ... I'm speechless
We built a tower for all the town to see
Bricks, concrete, metal and memories
Inside the rocks and stone, spaces became our home
Arguments echoing, love made me so high
Searching for words for the end
But we built the tower too high
When the light finally dies and we look to the sky
Will we finally know why
The call the dawn the morning
And I'd wish we'd said goodbye
Years flying by, trapped all alone in the sky
And you stories down and all our loved ones outside
Our words turned out all wrong
Intentions lost in halls
Now all I want to do is tear down the walls
Searching for words for the end
But we built the tower too high
When the light finally dies and we look to the sky
Will we finally know why
The call the dawn the morning
And I wish we'd said goodbye
Seems like the final day you'll ever come my way
So please forgive me if I hold on too tight, too tight
Tight, tight, tight
There's a tower, there's a tower
There's a tower, crumbling
Crumbling, crumbling, down
So when the light finally dies
I'll know the answer to why
They call the dawn, mourning
Wish I could've told you goodbye.

reverb heaven
Mind officially blown
The equipment is her pipes. I saw her live and all she had was a regular guitar.
Can someone tell whther this is really live - it sounds dubbed? The acoustics sound like and internal recording.
how do you guys get such good vocal quality? I want your equipment lol
I want this answer as well.
I think it adds to the song. I like the unpolished sound it brings. I mean they even rigged it to a car battery.
ive missed sideshow alley
@tophlovr Martin!

What kind of acoustic does she have?
Martin & co.
i like, is different

Claudio Papucci ♫ Thanks Claudio! All Sideshow Alley episodes are indeed recorded live on location. Glad you enjoyed it.
