    I’m a big Ohtani fan that’s why I now watch / go to dodgers game but Mookie, you are an awesome person and player. I know the interview was little disrespectful but you handled it perfectly. I cloud tell you responded with honest thoughts and what type of person you are. I hope you and the team have the greatest postseason. Go Mookie! Go Dodgers!

      Mookie often talks about Ohtani on his podcast & how humbling it is to play with him & how that makes him a better player. Instead of viewing Ohtani’s talent as a threat, he openly praises him to help maintain his confidence - cause when Ohtani plays his best, his team wins & helps them get to the WS.
      Also, the questions/topics discussed are all predetermined & approved by both parties, & the guest usually suggests the topics. So, this is all coming straight from Mookie himself.

    Mookie Betts, future hall of famer and deserves the spotlight! While I love Shohei Ohtani, I feel like the constant comparisons can sometimes overshadow Mookie's incredible talent and contributions to the game. I appreciate both of these legends!! To the casuals Markus Lynn "Mookie" Betts is an eight-time All-Star, a six-time Silver Slugger Award winner, a six-time Gold Glove Award recipient, a two-time World Series champion, and was named the Most Valuable Player in the American League in 2018. He is also second in Wins Above Replacement (WAR) among active position players, behind Mike Trout.

      Of course Jimmy is going to ask about Ohtani - he’s had a superhuman year & has set the bar to an unbelievable high. No one has ever seen a player like him before. I love Mookie, but let’s not forgot that Ohtani carried that team while Freddie, Mookie & others were out for most of the 2nd half of the season. With all due respect, inviting Mookie while pitting him against a teammate whom he very much respect is just not it. Both can be great at the same time, not sure why you don't ask him more of himself instead since he has a lot of materials to be asked about. Also, Ohtani has never been absent to give Mookie his flowers on lots of Japanese interviews. This is a very classless interview. I feel sorry for both Mookie and Ohtani cause this kind of BS gotta be so mentally exhausting for both of them.

    • @mikayocc
      @mikayocc หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      As an Angels/Shohei fan, this is what Mike Trout kinda had to deal with as well. It bums me out because it's not Shohei's fault he's a once in a generation talent, but asking his MVP teammates endless questions about another athlete's feats is just awkward. I definitely understand how both of them would feel weird answering the same questions over and over.

    • @Heybrotruthhurts
      @Heybrotruthhurts หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Perfectly said what I was thinking, feel like Kimmel is trying to cause drama or tension right before the playoffs...They're teammates who obviously respect each other a lot and Ohtani has used every chance he gets to praise Mookie even before they were teammates (ie: when asked who impressed him the most last year Ohtani answered Mookie). Just lame to embarass your guest by using his teammate.

    • @Heybrotruthhurts
      @Heybrotruthhurts หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@mikayocc Nah I think its the manner in which Kimmel did it in, he was comparing mookie to Sho and putting him down basically. It's fine if he just asks him about Sho (bc everyone is curious for good reason) but there's no need to compare their stats and purposefully putting Mook down.

He has never been shy about saying how Shohei is the greatest, but everyone just makes him repeatedly say it in interviews when it should have been about Mookie. @@ayydubs987 10 minutes? Are you that gullible? People don't just wake up and go there. It takes time to decide what to wear, get a clean haircut, shave and everything. It takes at least a day for all the planning. The choker is already planning to play with his bowling team after he drags down the team in the playoff. Why else do you think the Dodgers continue to get eliminated early year after year. This is why Shohei and Teo was brought in, to carry this chump and show gullible fans what it is to win.

    After reading most of the comments below, you have to realize that it's the Jimmy Kimmel Show. Jimmy asks questions to his guests all the time to see if he can get them off balance. He wouldn't be Jimmy Kimmel if he didn't. Mookie, being who he is neutralized him and caught him off guard by answering the question(s) honestly. We all know the saying: "Game recognizes Game". Mookie is an amazing talent that recognizes that Ohtani is somewhat a freak of nature and an amazing player also. That's just the kind of person "Mook" is; you heard him, he goes to public parks to play pickle ball because he LOVES it! Mookie is also a very humanitarian type of guy. After winning his 1st Championship ring with Boston when everybody was out on the town celebrating, he was out on the town feeding the homeless. His acumen on and off the field is a testament to future Hall of Fame status. Ya Betts Believe It!!
