Sick of people saying Michael Jordan won the 82 Natl Championship...sure the talented freshman hit the last shot...but the MAN in the house...the MAN who carried that team...not only in the final game....the tournament....the season....was the unstoppable JAMES WORTHY......Worthy was a beast and proved it throughout his career...I will give MJ his props as the NBA GOAT...but i believe Worthy set a burning example for MJ at UNC..One the talented freshman would ride to glory...SO at least lets give the 82 game...and Patrick Ewing says it best....GEORGETOWN HAD NO ANSWER FOR BIG GAME JAMES WORTHY !!

James Worthy came up bigger than big. Scored 28 of NC's 63 points and shot over 70 % from the field. Over 70% !!! In my opinion Worthy is one of the top 10 NBA'ers of All Time and doesn't get the level of recognition that Pippen, Malone, Duncan, and James routinely has received. He was the guy out on the fast break for the showtime Lakers.

When the Celtics and Lakers had their epic battles back in the 80s the one player on the Lakers that scared me was James Worthy. Seeing him out on the break flying to the rim was something to see and the Celts didn't have an answer for. He was like a race car leaving everyone in the dust off a pass from Magic or Kareem. I would have loved to see him in a Celtics uniform with Bird, Dennis Johnson, McHale, and Parish. With him they would have been impossible to beat literally.

The battle of Gastonia, North Carolina. Georgetown's Sleepy Floyd (Hunter Huss) vs. UNC's James Worthy (Ashbrook). The '82 final in my opinion the teams we're more evenly matched! In '93 Michigan should have easily won! They we're the best team in the country and had they played to the capability they had played with in the weeks leading up to the final in that championship game they'd have run Carolina out of the Superdome by at least 10-15 points! They didn't play to that potential and let the Tar Holes off the hook! Donald Williams kept Carolina in it long enough but it should never have gone to the wire! I've always continued with that thought Michigan had the better team but they didn't rise to the level they had shown getting to the FF and against Kentucky in the semis

I believe that although they didn't have that available in March, the fact they had it benefited them and served them well during the NCAA's!
